The nudists at Florida's Caliente Resort have asked Pasco County elections officials to set up a clothing-optional polling place for their community. Brian Corley, Pasco's supervisor of elections, dismissed the request as a publicity stunt.
"I think they're just doing some marketing hype," said Corley, adding he heard there was a news release by Caliente touting its request.
Corley said the request came a few weeks ago, and there's not enough time to set up a new polling place for this election. Even for 2010 would be difficult, he said. "Polling places, you don't tinker with them before apportionment unless you have to," he said.
Plus there are more practical considerations. Nothing in state law prohibits a nudist polling place, but how would the clerks and deputies wear their badges? "Even if I was behind what they were asking for--which I explained I am not--it's just too much to ask right now," added Corley.

Nude people of the world, get a life. With multi-hour long waits at polls, suggest throwing a sheet over your nudity for the duration of the vote will do nicely. I bet your local grocery store insists on shoes, shirt and pants! Only in my beloved home state of Florida would this be an issue. And maybe California, a state that according to a poll, is just like Florida, just not as tacky.

Ah yes ! Every spec/interest group catered to...finally we're getting somewhere. I.e : folks who are: Cannabals, who walk on their hands, walk backwards, joggers who want to keep up pace, self mutilators, spitters, folks who vowed to keep arms up in air at all times, germ freaks, Touretters (sp?), folks who always want to have pets on shoulders, horse riders not wanting to dismount to vote, those with voting machine fobias, who only will vote if sung to.......I think you get it! Should'nt we provide for these if we are gonna be inclusive?

I got to appraise some of the condos there when I lived in Pasco County many years ago.. not sure if it's the same development there are several in the area.. for the most part very affluent people.. .. very strange to see whole families roller blading down the street NAKED together....

this is america and voting is an expression of policical freedom. therefore if you are a nudist, why should your rights be infringed on by requiring you to wear clothing. this is contrary to the manner that you live your life. in america i always believed we should have a live and let live attitude.

They can vote absentee - or they can get off their lazy butt, put some clothes on and go vote at their assigned poll station. This has crap to do with 'rights' or 'freedoms' - as a functioning society there has to be some rules otherwise we have anarchy.

(I belong to a clothing optional club - and I chose to vote absentee - and I don't believe that Election Officials should bent over backwards to accomodate my private life).

Their right to be naked stops where my right not to see naked people if I don't want to starts! If they could get a particular time slot, I wouldn't mind, but at least that will give me and them a choice to exercise our rights without infringing in somebody else's.

It seems that transgender issues are au courant on college campuses these days.
What this country needs is to cater to the whims every sect, sub-sect, interest group and sub-interest group. Wouldn't that be the measure of our goodness?
As a matter of fact, while we are at it we should be catering to the whims of everyone in the world. Shouldn't we always be consulting before every move we make domestically and internationally? Is not our standing in the world a measure of how much we are liked? -

Being nudist isn't a bad thing..it's how clean these nudists are, I mean wipe good, wash pubic area, deoderant, have someting to wipe the ooze? HOW FRIGGIN DUMB CAN NUDIST VOTING BE??? There is no need for special polling locations. If you wish to make a statement, make it with your vote, not your feelings that everyone should cede to your ideas. Live with society as it exists and exercise your rights if you wish to without offending others. I have no problem with nudism, but others do, and that is their right. As far as those who wish to bash one candidate or the other, grow up. This is about choice, or did we forget the reason we vote? I'm sick of the attacks from both sides....most of them come from the parties and not the candidate, they're led around like ponies. Vote, and accept the results. That's why we vote.

What is it with this American paranoia about rights, rights, rights ... what about responsibility and respecting others? I belong to a 'clothing optional' club, but voted absentee ... if you can't vote absentee (which for today is propably out), then get off your lazy nacked ass, put some fricken clothes on and go to your assigned polling place and vote and shut the hell up already, spoiled brats!

I am sure you would have a good voter turn out, I wouldn't be ashamed to vote in the nude, really I think it would disperse with some inhibitions. The voting experience should be a pleasant one and it is one to be enjoyed by every American. Let us disperse with all the humor, even though I think the media would have a field day with it. Wouldn't you love to see their faces when it aired and to have a heart monitor on katie to see her real reaction.

Again more hate... Just because most nudists are conservative, nudists get mocked for asking to vote nude. At least they can think for themselves and do not need the liberal press to tell them who to vote for. Caliente is a very nice place with very well off people living there.

It is not what is best for America, it is all about certain groups getting special rights and privileges. They have the right to be nude, but more importantly, many more people have the right to NOT see them nude in public. Lets face it, too many americans really do not need to be seen naked.. if you know what I mean.

Please...they did NOT ask to be allowed to vote at other places nude where others would be forced to see them... they asked for their own voting place within their own community. Basically adding a precient I guess so they could vote from a building on their community's grounds. So comments from people saying they have a right not to see the nude people.... you would never of saw them because they would've voted in their own area. Make sure you understand the whole thing before making comments. If you don't understand some thing.. either ignore it... or learn about it before making judgement.

It's amazing what people will do to practice self expression these days. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with nudist as long as it is in an area where children can't see it. Some people use there brains and other's? Well, you can guess. If they stood there naked waiting to vote there probably would be a lot of moaning so how could you concentrate on who to vote for and then, oops! Where'd that baby come from! Come to think of it, I wouldn't want to see some old, fat, shriveled up prune standing next to me and poking me with his "kickstand". Ewww!

When your about to have sex with the opposite sex, half of the fun is watching them get undress. I wonder if you guys had a normal sex life. You probably didn't. Its ok to be naked once in while, but you better have control over body fluids if nude for more that 3hrs.

What is wrong with putting on a few clothes and going to the polls to express yourself. Give me a break! Hey I walk around naked all of the time in the privacy of my home. Being a nudist does not give you the right to infringe on someones rights and beliefs. Stop being so ridiculous. We are Americans, lets use some common sense for a change.

I have heard of two nudist poling places, the North Pole and Antartica. So all you Floridian nudist requesting that special polling place move to Antartica or the North Pole for your special rights. They welcome you there with open igloo's

What if you were in the precinct and WEREN'T a nudist, and didn't care to see everyone else's bare behinds? I think THOSE folks should be taken into consideration, also - and they obviously were. Also, if there were nudist families, I wonder what their kids do for clothes in attending school? Are those communities large enough that they have nudist schools?

my boss just fired people because of obama,,,the new tax hike has him regrouping for the storm to come,,,,i guess the lower tax break is great for people with no income,, nothing from nothing is still nothing.. tell obama to get them new jobs , maybe picking up trash on the highway like back when FDR was president
