Alternet will be updating the site all day, check out the early voting numbers now. An estimated 1/3 of Americans have already voted. Take a look at how they voted here.

Here is what to watch for my friends-
7 PM EST. Polls close in Virginia and Georgia, as well as most of Florida and most of New Hampshire.

Virginia, for my money, is the most important state in this election. If John McCain loses it, his path to victory is exceptionally narrow. Obama remains about five points ahead in most polls of Virginia, what we're really looking for is a quick call on anything before 8 PM that would indicate that the map has indeed changed from 2004, and not in McCain's favor.

Also Georgia and New Hampshire are a bit less essential electorally, but they may tell us the most about whether the polls are off in this election. If there's one state where Obama is likely to overperform his polls, it's in Georgia, where 35 percent of early voters are African-American, and where almost 30 percent of them did not vote in 2004. These are the sorts of voters that may erroneously be screened out by "likely voter" models that rely on past voting history. Obama could not only carry the state, but he might help boost Jim Martin to victory in the U.S. Senate race there—giving the Democrats a plausible path to a 60-seat caucus.

At 6:05 A.M. Pat Buchanon, on "morning Joe" says that he has dinner reservations at Elaines at 8:05. Looks like he believes it's going to be an early night.
      I hope he's right!

Voting in my district was actually fun, people were chatting it up .The crowd was divided into archtypes pretty easily. My guess is that the smiling cheerful folks were there for Obama and the sour angry-faced grumpy ones were not.

          A high turnout is favorable!
And 1st time voters are mostly in Obama's camp.
I think the youth vote is key, they came out big time in the primary.
If they follow through and vote in the general today America will be on the path to salvation!

Normally in all elections there is never a wait in my town. Today I had to wait in line and all the booths were full. There were many confused voters because it was their first time voting and they didn't know which precinct they lived in I found that rather silly because we only have three precincts.

Hagan Beats Dole in North Carolina

Kay Hagan takes another Senate seat for Dems.

Score one for the Godless American Sunday school teacher.

This is the third Democratic Senate pickup of the night; Warner (VA), Shaheen (NH), and Hagan (NC).

                        MN isn't done counting yet.

Obama is ahead, Franken is ahead (closer than Obama and McCain), looks like Keith Ellison (YYEESS!!!!!!) is way ahead of his competition and the closest race of all is Bachmann (Evangelical Christian) vs Tinkelberg (Christian Minister. I'm so glad the rest of the nation didn't have to hear Michelles attacks against him. They were pretty bad.). Betty McCollum looks like she's relected almost by a landslide.
