"Titanic" was probably the most successful of these, considering box office, critical acclaim and awards. The production was also the result of creative financing, underwritten by two usually competing major studios, with one handling domestic distribution and the other international. Taking domestic distribution affords a better opportunity to minimize risk and contain negative financing costs because it provides a faster return on investment.
