Yes, all of it was put 'off the record' until after the election. Often this sort of thing is a condition of having your reporters part of the press on the plane following the campaign around.

Sounds like Palin was a real Diva. I mean, who refuses interview prep unless they think their sh!t don't stink?-

Beau, that is an overlooked point, many would prefer to credit McCain's fall and Obama's rise to the collapse of the DOW, but I think it was really the Couric interview that decided which way lots of people were going to vote. McCain's campaign slogan of "Country First" was just not believable when he picked Palin, which was clearly a matter of politics first.
Reply
I work with an older lady who was a big Hillary supporter during my state's caucus and she found the choice of Palin as a Hillary replacement to be insulting. I can't say that she would have voted for McCain if he had chosen differently but his choice of Palin cemented her vote for Obama. -

Yes, the Charlie Gibson interview was pretty disastrous, but some people were probably willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because that was her first interview. The Karie Couric interview convinced them that they had heard right the first time.

The only thing convincing about the Couric interview is that Couric should be back on the morning show. CBS made a huge mistake in putting her in the place of Schieffer. I abandoned CBS news when she came on board, NBC is my choice now, much more professional, IMHO of course.

If you listen to the report all the way through, you'll notice that it was one of her "aids" that said she said and believed it. The same aid that Palin accused of screwing up her pre-interview texts. The same "aid" also said that Palin didn't know what countries are part of NAFTA. Oh, and btw, I voted for Obama for reasons OTHER than Palin or McCain. Like the McCain campaign aids, these people are OUT OF A JOB now and covering their butts for future employment. It's time to move on gang!!!

Ask the Republicans why they are doing it. My guess is that they have a lot of practice in it, and by now it comes naturally.-

They're out of a job, that's why the smear from the inside. They don't want to be associated with the losing camp so they do what they can to alienate themselves on their resume for the next job application. This is nothing new, it happens everywhere, not limited to politics.

because this woman was running for.......... VICE PRESIDENT!!!!!
Reply
thankfully she lost but she should never ever have got anywhere near this far. there's some crazy talk going round saying she may run in 2012 but if there is an ounce of any intelligence remaining in the republican party she should be banished to the antipedes forever never to be heard from again!-

Question: Have you ever taken the time to actually read factual accounts on Palin without being influenced by the media trashing, etc. I think you'll find, as I did, a very bright and resourceful individual that "gets things done". She has enemies in Alaska just like every politician has in every state of the union. Did you know that she is the Commander In Chief of the 49th Alaska National Guard that is the ONLY National Guard unit in the U.S. that is on duty 24/7/365? Did you know that the 49th is the first line defense in case of a missile attack from across the Pole and their responsibiliy is to shoot 'em down? Did you know that Palin has a security clearance higher than that of Obama AND Biden? And on and on ...

Well, the election certainly worked out for the best, then, didn't it?
Reply
Will we see her in 4 or 8 years? I have more doubts now than I had previously.
I mean, we don't want someone who apparently "cracked" (Carl Cameron's words) under the pressure of running as a VP to crack under the pressures as a President, do we?-

The GOP is in a catatonic state following the botched campaign. So much so that anyone involved in the GOP will say anything about anyone connected, even to the extent of trashing the candidates, Palin included. Like MotiGui mentioned, anything to cover their butts now that they're basically out of a job. Unless you actually hear something she said I wouldn't take too much stock in it, media included .. ESPECIALLY the media !!

I wouldn't say that we were catatonic. We're greatly disappointed. On the good side, we're not in charge. So it will be interesting how the media and Dems explain the greatest decline in the markets after a presidential election. Obama wins the election and the market drops 400 to 500 points in 2 days. Huh, go figure.

Under normal circumstances, the markets thrive on certainty and spike right after the election. I expected to happen on Wednesday. The thing is, these are not normal circumstances--the markets have been in a crazed state of volatility for many weeks. I'll be curious to see what happens throughout the rest of the month (I mean, even more curious than I would have been otherwise, which is plenty).

As opposed to the say 2,000 or 3,000 points it's dropped over the past several months. The market is very volatile right now, with or without an election. To ascribe the decline solely to the election of Mr. Obama is a wee bit myopic. Really, in October of 2008 we had the largest singles swings in the market ever. Perhaps we should wait until the President Elect takes office in January before we begin assigning all of the country's economic ills on him alone.

All one needs to ask themselves is what was the DJ at 6 months ago? This should fill any questions you have about the markets constant downward spiral. -

Out of curiosity BB64, did you happen to note the other news that hit the market this week? The unemployment rate is up and retail sales are down. If you believe that is somehow Obama's fault than I have to conclude that you're drinking the koolade. And I don't mean Jim Jones -- I'm talking Ken Kesey here.

Certain members of the GOP, yes, but there is also an element of the GOP that loves her. It remains to be seen which factions will gain control of the GOP, but if folks like Rush Limbaugh have anything to say you can expect Palin will return to the national scene.

The woman is pathologically self centered and a compulsive liar. She was allowed 20-25K for 6 suits and spent over 150,000, inlcuding clothes for Todd.. When asked about it, she said "that's just false.

It's pretty evident she is a taker, a faker, and a liar. She should be stoned for all her lies-

Please read the actual account before posting. She did not spend 150,000 and in fact most if not all the wardrobe has been sold and the proceeds went to charity. For almost the last 3 weeks of the campaign she went back to wearing clothes from her favorite consignment store in her home town. So did Todd and the kids. Look at her latest interview with a closeup of the earrings. Those came as a gift from Todd's mother, a Yupik Eskimo. It was the RNC that thrust the wardrobe on her, it wasn't her idea, that's why she felt uncomfortable and went back to her usual rags.

If you go to Yahoo.com, on the front page is a video of Palin, and a news clip saying that no one knows where the clothes, jewelry and luggage is that was bought for Palin, and that many of the donors are upset by the bills she ran up, because she was only supposed to be getting a couple of suits, but ended up spending thousands more than she was supposed to, and they don't know what happened to the stuff she bought.

I would give you the link, but there is none except Yahoo, com!

This is yet another example of the elitist liberal media unfairly attacking real conservatives like Sarah Palin who aren't beholden to the special interests that are promoting their erudite agenda of knowing that Africa is a continent and which countries belong to NAFTA.

I said FOX is part of the liberal media that's trying to nail Palin. I bet it's because they are trying to prevent her from running for President in 4 years even though she is more then qualified not only to be the future President of US, but also to be a nuclear engineer and a rocket scientist at the same time.
Liberal media like FOX are just afraid that someone who has THAT much intelligence will become the next President of US and they wouldn't be able to suppress her First Amendment rights any longer.

I'm surprised that Fox aired this at all, but this little tid bit of information is more telling of the people who worshiped her unconditionally than it was of her. Sarah Palin was full of herself, she thought she had all the answers, had gone farther than her highest expectations, and had probably bullied her way to where she was.. I think she thought that her ability to bully people was going to pay off for her in this election, and she got fooled.
Reply
I haven't heard any definites about Ted Stevens yet, but his seat in the Senate affects everyone in the whole country, not just Alaska.. If he's censured, and Palin seats herself, we are still stuck with this KNOW NOTHING of a woman, who gives intelligent women a bad name. She has set women's chances back 50 years in just a few short months.-

I blame others for giving her a false sense of competency. IMO she's either very naive or...I don't know what.

I know this sounds mean, but since she's out...we've lost 4 yrs of some really great opportunities for entertainment. I usually don't care for political satire, but the recent weeks....just too funny!!!! especially SNL -
