Yes, all of it was put 'off the record' until after the election. Often this sort of thing is a condition of having your reporters part of the press on the plane following the campaign around.

Sounds like Palin was a real Diva. I mean, who refuses interview prep unless they think their sh!t don't stink?

It was a trick question, continents aren't mentioned in the Bible.

Interesting point about the timing of Obama's rise. Prior to the Katie Couric interview, Palin wasn't speaking to the press at all. When she opened her mouth, McCain's numbers went down.

Beau, that is an overlooked point, many would prefer to credit McCain's fall and Obama's rise to the collapse of the DOW, but I think it was really the Couric interview that decided which way lots of people were going to vote. McCain's campaign slogan of "Country First" was just not believable when he picked Palin, which was clearly a matter of politics first.
I work with an older lady who was a big Hillary supporter during my state's caucus and she found the choice of Palin as a Hillary replacement to be insulting. I can't say that she would have voted for McCain if he had chosen differently but his choice of Palin cemented her vote for Obama.

I thought the Charlie Gibson interview was first, since Katie Couric asked some questions which seemed to be a follow-up, specifically with reference to Palin's claims regarding international relations experience.

Yes, the Charlie Gibson interview was pretty disastrous, but some people were probably willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because that was her first interview. The Karie Couric interview convinced them that they had heard right the first time.

The only thing convincing about the Couric interview is that Couric should be back on the morning show. CBS made a huge mistake in putting her in the place of Schieffer. I abandoned CBS news when she came on board, NBC is my choice now, much more professional, IMHO of course.
