No, God forgives those that are righteous. God asks us all to love God and love our neighbors and pray for our enemies.

The quote suggesting that God helps those who help themselves is from Benjamin Franklin, not from God. The Bible says "He [God] causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

" and pray for our enemies"

No. Christ commands you to LOVE your enemies. Praying doesn't hurt either, but you should at least get Christ's words right, yes?

        Hi, Dionys,

I sure hope that I was not misrepresenting Christ's words, but if somehow you feel that I did, I am sorry. I did not explicitly quote Christ's words about how we are to treat God, or our neighbors, or our enemies, but I think my representation was at least accurate, if not precise. IMO, your recommendation is also accurate as I think the Christ made both statements. The full quote from Matthew (5:43-45) is this:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor* and hate your enemy.’
But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. [NIV]

Thanks for the opportunity to clarify.
