Comments for Fox Hosts Mock Black Reporter's Tears During Obama Win »
Posted By Neophile 1 year, 1 month ago in Political NewsLate night Fox News host Greg Gutfeld makes a living off controversy. But this is low, even for him. On Tuesday night, Gutfeld talked with correspondent Bill Schulz as the two mocked a video clip of a black ABC reporter breaking into tears as Obama's election to the presidency was announced.
"I grew up in a neighborhood that was mostly black," said ABC's Steve Osunsami. "And my father used to tell us that there's no way this country would elect a black president. Well, this evening, the country has proved my old man wrong, and we're the better for it." Several times, the reporter's voice wavered, as he was obviously emotionally moved by the news.
"I so wanna comfort him, right now," sneered Gutfeld. "Bill, you were convinced he was faking it."
"I am, and I have to say, if that's a television moment, I cry on this show every night!" responded Schulz. "Why don't we get better ratings?" The show's various cast members laughed throughout the exchange, which you can see in the video below.

The most competent person WON the election and happened to be black.

It is historic because the oppression of the past has finally been overcome and the human race in general in the US has progressed despite the best efforts of the idiots who would claim that the SOLE reason for voting FOR the most competent candicate is because of his skin color and NOT his superior ability.-

Obama was able to raise so much more money because people were voting with their wallets. In fact, much of Obama's fundraising total consisted of small donations of $100 or less.

"The details of Mr. Obama’s January fund-raising illustrate just how much his campaign has been able to chart a new path for the presidential race. He brought in $28 million online, with 90 percent of those transactions coming from people who donated $100 or less, and 40 percent from donors who gave $25 or less."
http://www.kansascity.com/449/story/854989.html
"A political watchdog group called for investigations Monday to determine whether fundraisers for John McCain's presidential campaign arranged illegal "straw" donations — contributions from people who did not spend their own money.
Campaign Money Watch urged Attorney General Michael Mukasey to probe the activities of Florida defense contractor Harry Sargeant III, who is credited with raising more than $500,000 for the campaign. It also questioned $57,000 in donations from an office manager for the oil giant, the Hess Corp. The McCain campaign last week returned $50,000 of the donations tied to Sargeant, citing published reports that some California donors did not intend to vote for McCain."
Still looking for excuses for why the Republican Party lost, other than a failed ideology? What a sore loser.
LOL.-

There is a PROFOUND difference between Obama's lack of control over outpouring of hundreds of millions of dollars coming in from millions of donors and McCain's blatant violation of campaign finance laws HE HIMSELF helped pass. There's nothing "secret" or "illegitimate" about Obama's contributions -- every dollar is reported, and donors who meet the legal threshold are disclosed. McCain should be familiar with these rules, since he helped write them. McCain wants Obama to itemize every donor, including small donors. The Obama campaign has said there are too many of them to make this feasible, and the McCain campaign, in response to a similar suit filed by the DNC, has used the SAME EXACT ARGUMENT. Besides, the Obama campaign has been actively identifying and returning such funds.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story...
"The Obama campaign says it is constantly scrutinizing the donor lists and improving the screening devices. It says many of the problem donations are caught down the line and the contributions refunded."
Also, let's not neglect the fact that McCain has been having THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story...
"It turns out the McCain campaign has some similar problems, which Obama's staff was happy to detail. One online donor to McCain listed his name as Jesus II."
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/McCain...
"Russia's permanent mission to the UN has received a letter from U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain asking for financial support of his election campaign, the mission said in a statement on Monday. The McCain campaign was, in effect, asking the Russian ambassador for an illegal campaign contribution. Accepting foreign money is against the law."
http://www.aol.com.au/news/story/Waxman-wants-prob...
"A powerful House Democrat wants the Pentagon to investigate a company owned by a prominent fundraiser for Republican presidential candidate John McCain for allegedly overcharging the U.S. government to deliver fuel to Iraq. McCain's campaign in August said it was returning $50,000 in contributions solicited by a Jordanian man who is a business partner of Sargeant. At that time, Rogers said some of the people solicited by Mustafa Abu Naba'a had no intention of supporting McCain for president so the money was being returned."
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/08...
"The Post first reported on Harry Sargeant's efforts on behalf of McCain and other political candidates earlier this week. McCain's campaign has credited Sargeant for collecting dozens of $2,300 and $4,600 checks, many of them from ordinary families in California. Sargeant told The New York Times this morning that he at times left the task of collecting the checks to a longtime business partner, Mustafa Abu Naba'a. The problem with that is that Abu Naba'a is not an American citizen. According to court records, Abu Naba'a is a dual citizen of Jordan and the Dominican Republic."
http://thehill.com/campaign-2008/group-files-compl...
"A watchdog group announced Monday that it had filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regarding a fundraiser that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) held in London. Judicial Watch argues that providing a venue for the event free of charge was an illegal in-kind contribution from two foreign nationals — Lord Rothschild OM GBE and The Honorable Nathaniel Rothschild."
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/oct/25/de...
"The Democratic Party plans to file a complaint with federal regulators that accuses Republican John McCain's presidential campaign of various violations of campaign finance law. In a letter to the Federal Election Commission to be submitted Monday, the Democratic National Committee alleges McCain has received donations from 6,653 individuals who exceeded the legal $2,300 limit by at least $1,000 and 23 donation in excess of $50 from anonymous donors. The DNC cited one donor who appeared to have given more than $56,000. Democrats cite the McCain campaign's refund of $50,000 raised by a Jordanian citizen and mentions a fundraising appeal from McCain mistakenly sent to Russia's ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin. Foreign nationals are prohibited from contributing to political campaigns."
http://www.politicususa.com/en/McCain-Ottawa-Fundr...
"The Democratic National Committee has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request with the State Department today related to a fundraiser that John McCain held in Ottawa. At issue is whether U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins and the McCain campaign violated the Hatch Act by having the Ambassador help to organize a $100 a plate luncheon for McCain. The Hatch Act forbids the engagement in partisan political activity by any ambassador, even if the activity in question occurs on foreign soil. It appears that McCain advisor Sen. Lindsey Graham used his South Carolina connection with the Ambassador to get advice about logistics, venues, and cities for the event. Ambassador Wilkins also contacted Thomas d'Aquino, the president of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and had him help sell tickets for the event. All of this violates both the Hatch Act, and State Department ethics rules."

I am curious why there was no crying or knashing of teeth when Colin Powell or Condelezza Rice advanced to high positions in the government and broke through the proverbial glass ceiling. They too were the most competant in the field.

Residents of Washington D.C. boted 96% for the Black candidate. Indeed, a thoughtful, intelligent electorate. Both candidates were pretty darn good this time; for a change. To ignore the racism expressed by an overwhelming number of black Americans is to take away from Obama's victory. Maybe these fools should have recused themselves. Obama would most likely have won without them.

Those who are making racist comments should check out what that means. If over 90% of any racial group acts in unison, that would be racist. Any clue what percent of blacks voted for Obama? As to best qualified, lets give the guy his chance and see how he handles it. Only sure way to know ill be if he succeeds or fails, and to a degree that depends on giving him a fair chance. Honest people surely cant say that George Bush ever got a fair chance from day one. Lets show enough class to give Obama a fair shot at the job. After all, he is not a black president, or a Democrat president, He is the American president of us all. That means we all need to respect and honor him, for the office he holds, and quit the whining until the next election. None of us know for sure how he will perform, so lets hope for the best. LEN

And what makes him so "competent" because he says he is? What shred of experience does he have that backs that up. Let's see 18 Mo in the US Senate in which a authored no bills of any substance and ran for president 1/2 the time! Or was it his time in the State Senate where he voted "present" more times than not. Explain to me exactly what he has accomplished, other that great soaring speeches!

I am amazed at the responses to the article posted. Much like most posts here they rarely on message. This fox guy is a nobody so who cares what he thinks, I've never heard of him or his show. In a response to Just4chickles...one of the things that made this election memorable was that a black man became President for the first time in history. I'm sorry that that bothers you. I voted for the man because I think he can do a tremendous job, I dont think that those who voted against him are all racist, that's just silly, I'm not that guy. But The election was memorable for many reason. A huge 8 million vote mandate was given to both Obama and the democratic congress, a Dem won sates no dem had won in as much as 40 years and so statistically there were all kinds of significance. In many people's eyes, especially those who are black, or those who have championed issues of civil right their whole lives look at the fact of a black president as a huge deal. Do you think Jesse Jackson was faking it? The man has giving his whole life to civil rights issues, can he not show an emotional response after all he has been through in his life all that he has seen, what he had seen with MLK? Not sure I understand the rightwing outrage to this article.

I too shed tears for this historical moment. I have already read one too many posts on these threads from the neocons who hate Jesse Jackson; one moron claimed that his tears during Obama's speech were selfish and motivated by his own failures.
Only racists and hateful ideologues would question the sacredness of a person shedding tears especially in a moment of such magnitude. Shameful.
These are people who have lost something vital along the way - that special quality that makes us human and spiritually connected to others. Most of these people have long since lost the ability to shed a tear for anyone, including themselves. Much of their scorn and cynicism stem from jeolousy and self-pity for feeling on the outside. A sad lot.-

I dident see the rev. Jacksons tears. But how can anyone think they were real when this was the same man that wanted to cut Obamas balls off just a short time ago. How do you go from cutting a mans balls off to tears of joy? Bill Clinton was right. This is nothing but a fairy tail. Most of the people who voted for this man know nothing about him. Change? Yea, from freedom to socialism.

Actually Marti your own words prove my point. Somehow you read that I am bashing Obama. That my words are hateful. Which ones? My question was about the Rev Jacksons comments. Were his words of cutting Barracks balls off hateful? How is that hateful that I ask that question? You do know that Jacksons a dem dont you? How excactly is life going for the folks in the south side of Chicago Marti? You know the community that Obama organized on his way up the the ladder to becoming president. Do you know that wonderful community had 430+ murders last year? Do you know that is more Americans that died in both Iraq and Afghanistan combined? Sounds to me like its the war in the south side of Chicago that Obama should be looking to end. But he used the wars our troops are fighting to devide this country and your words show clearly you have been led down that road of division. Nothing has backfired on the 55 million voters who werent supporting Obama. I as one of them am very clear in my thinking that it is Obama that wants to "change "(not destroy as your words suggest) this country. Yet somehow you suggest it is the right that wants to destroy the country. It is my opinion that its us 55 million that are awake. You are just following the chosen one.

I have read several posts on this site and had made a determination. It is not the REPS that are racist and harbor hate to people that are not white and are poor. It is the people that claim to DEMS. They believed that they are entitled and they believe that the federal government is responsible for raising are kids, providing our insurance, providing money to buy food. People need to take accountability for their actions, their income, their insurance, their kids, and their living environment.
Reply
It is easy to say that REPS are racist but not that easy to look at your own party to see that racist exist within the DEM party. Let’s take the easy way out and say that white people are racist but what about all the black's that are racist against white people. That is never brought out. I think we ALL have a little racist in us and if we all admit to it then CHANGE can happen.
I am proud to be a REP but I don't always agree with the actions that they take of the decisions that they make, but the government is not run by the president alone and people need to stop blaming the entire mess on the president.
Did the president make people buy more than they can afford by using credit cards, or signing the contract on a new home when using subprime loan. NO, I don't think the president held a gun to these people's head and said sign and spend or else.
The problem is that people want more then they can afford and don't think about what will happen later if they lose their job of a medical condition happens that they have no control over.
I don't hate DEMS, I just don't agree with their agenda. But reading the posts by DEMS seem to have hatred toward the REPS. I think we all need to stop hatred, but we are only human and that will never happen, let’s face reality.
The one thing that GWB did for this country is made it safer, whether you want to believe it or not. I think people need to think before responding to another post. I believe if people would think before the act in this country, things would not be as bad. People would have made the right choices when buying things on credit cards and when buying a house when the know that they cannot afford it because they got a loan with lower payments to start with and not thinking about what will happen when the payments go up. -

The republican party and democratic party of today are very different from what they were during Lincoln's time. As for womens rights and freedom of speech being republican initiatives? Got links for that? Also, given your interest in history, check out how the republican party began to change after Taft was elected (and Teddy Roosevelt ran on a third part ticket--Bullmoose Party). Also check out the changes that Harry S Truman and Hubert Humphrey began to institute within the democratic party beginning in 1948 re: race relations and civil rights. Then look to see how the south transitioned away from the democratic party and many states that had previously voted republican began to transition to it.

You are absolutely true about that. The "something for nothing" socialist crowd is in full tilt control now and the productive of this country will never be in power again. how about as a reporter, the ABC "journalist" should have been out seeking stories from the 200,000 people around him instead of making HIMSELF the story?? Do you think that no one else gathered around him was overflowing w/ emotion? Was it only HIM that mattered? No, this has NOTHING to do w/ FOX and everything to do w/ the reporter being unprofessional. The story wasn't HIM -- it was Obama. And if he wanted people to share their emotions, he's supposed to conduct INTERVIEWS -- not make it about him. The poor professionalism goes to ABC. Not FOX. The Fox show is on at 3 AM! It's REAL news as much as The Daily Show is.

If you were 'thinking' you wouldn't be spouting economic nonsense simply to try to deflect the blame from years of lax to non-existent oversight championed by the greedy conservatives currently begging for government bailouts.
But, I too doubt we're even remotely so lucky as for this to be a death knell for conservatism, greed, and hate-mongering. That's likely to continue business as usual, even if it's been temporarily chased back a little bit from the halls of power.
And, like any other evil, it will be waiting closely in the wings, ready to rear it's head again at the earliest opportunity.-

If you were "thinking," you wouldn't be spouting your nonsense simply to try to deflect the blame from liberals and Dems like Barney Franks, who pushed Freddie and Fannie to make risky variable interest loans to bad risk, low income families. They moved into houses they couldn't afford, the market became artificially inflated, then when it naturally righted itself they all found themselves homeless and "begging for handouts" as you put it. Better to give handouts to the banks and companies who will create jobs and drive the economy back up, than to the poor folks so poorly misled by hamhanded, big spending Dems.
Reply
You bandy about words like hate-mongering and evil, as if you really understand them. Hate-mongering? Look at the scorn that was heaped on Clinton this year to get her out of the way of Nobama, then the hatchet job that was done on Palin and still continues. They both make "swift boating" look like rowing on a Sunday afternoon. How about Obama referring to a war hero who suffered torture for his country as "erratic," daring to hint that this honorable senator's war time service suddenly now made him dangerous. Another example: Obama's ad saying McCain was so old and out of touch that he couldn't use e-mail. Not only hateful but stupid. The reason why he couldn't use e-mail, if someone had bothered to check the many published stories, was that his badly injured arms made it hard for him to type. He had to have his wife help him for that. Nice going, jerks.
Evil? Ever seen war? Ever been in a riot? Ever seen a dead person? Ever seen something really ugly and bloody that it will haunt you for the rest of your life? That is evil. I doubt you have really seen it our your words would not have sounded so self important and hollow. I have seen it. I have touched it. I know. It has nothing to do with empty political discussion and everything to do with what can happen at any time in dangerous situations. You had better just hope you are ready for real evil if it comes, and pray your boy has enough big boys behind him to make the real decisions or blood will flow in this country once again.

I am an independant who voted for Obama, tend to lean Dem. You are right about one thing, McCain and Palin. They spewed a lot of crap, and Obama stayed above that kind of politics. It says a lot about him. People are tired of the ole dirty politics, and that's all the Rep. had to offer. I listened to Palin's acceptance speech, and said..now there's a "wolf in sheep's clothing". The ironic thing is I love wolves, and I have known for a long time that Palin "pays" $150.00, to people who kill them. She might be a "socker" mom, but after socker; look out. I didn't like Bush before he ran, and certainly don't like him anymore today. I will pay for his ticket back to Texas. I trust my women intuition, and know this country made the right choice.

Yeah, they stayed above it because there was nothing to "spew". You really don't think associations in life say nothing about your character? Sitting in a pew with a preacher that says "God Damn America" says nothing about you when you called him your "spiritual adviser" in your very own words in your very own book!!

if this were true we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today. we wouldn't have two wars and a tanking economy. we wouldn't have had a 2nd term of bush. the media for 2/3s of the last 8 years gave bush applause, adulation and a get-out-jail-for-free card. and he's still holding onto that one.

When will people realize that Fox News has nothing to do with news. It's right-wing, hatred-filled bile aimed at anyone who doesn't agree with their narrow viewpoints. People should boycott all Fox programming--including American Idol--to put a stop to this stupidity.

Sounds like you are quite familiar with stupidity, bile, and hatred yourself. Not surprising that you advocate boycotting "anyone who doesn't agree with ... narrow viewpoints." Like yours? If the new definition of 'coming together as a nation' means simply silencing the voices raised in disagreement or opposition, then we are facing a truly dark time in our history. You still have the right to express your views, as does everyone else. When you see the expression of opposing views beginning to be stifled, well, you had best begin to worry, for your own views may be next.

nlocken has the right to his opinions, as do you. What he proposes would violate constitutional protection of the press -- it's not going to happen. Over the years I've seen many who consider themselves conservative (not you wtagg) attempt to change laws so that people like Murdoch and buy up more of the media and hence suppress opposing viewpoints on the left. Apparently, your definition of "freedom of speech' refers only to things you want to hear. Thankfully, it also allows idiotic comments from the ill-informed like you, because if you did a bit of research instead of reacting in a knee-jerk fashion, you'd know that RED EYE is NOT a news show and the people on the show are NOT reporters. It's meant to be a talkshow where events are discussed in an irreverent way. Now drink your Kool-Aid and go back to watching Bill Maher insult everyone who's conservative or has religious faith.

Sometimes, the untold story says more than the reported one. This "story" reported with typical liberal bias is meant to mislead. Red Eye is NOT a news show and the people on it are NOT reporters. It's supposedly a "hip", off-the-wall gabfest where people sit around talking and mocking many news subjects and is meant to be a comedic vein, which is why you hear people laughing in the studio. What they do is no worse than the drivel spouted by Bill Maher or The Daley Show. The show airs at 3am (est) because of the nature of some of it's contents.

Does it matter to any of you angry people who are yelling about liberal bias, that 100% of all american media is corporate owned, and 100% owned for profit, and 100% conservative board controlled?
Reply
NBC / General Electric/ Universal Studios. conservative corporate controlled, for profit
CBS / Westinghouse Corp conservative corporporate board controlled for profit.
News corp, largest media empire in the world, owned by the far right wing Rupurt Murdock, who invented tabloidism, owner of the Weekly Standard and WSJ. Far, far right wing.
ABC/ Disney....held and owned by a banking Cabal in Israel. Massive corporate structure, multi tiered conservative board controlled for profit.
Time Warner/ AOL/ Netscape/ Propeller. Conservative corporate controlled massive media for profit board controlled empire, cable tv programming and news.
Sinclair Media, Hard, hard right wing media empire controlling local broadcasts in both radio, newspapers, TV. Very religious, very conservative, owned by a billionaire republican.
99% republican controlled, 99% conservative, 100% board controlled, 100% for profit.
PBS...the chairman of PBS was the former Republican political director appointed by Bush.
You see, when you look at the facts, the house of cards blows away. The idea of "liberal bias" comes from Rush or Hannity, who are told exactly what to say by their masters, the owners of the media empires.
Please think. Please try and see the truth. Look it up online, and think for yourselves. Do you think the owners of these media empires want anything but more and more money, however they can make it. Its cut throat competitive business practice. THEY ARE SELLING YOU PROPANDA.
You conservatives are very good at making money, so why can't you follow the money on this topic of the false liberal media bias you keep talking about?
Its as if you have blinders, you can be logical up to a point, then some evangelical ideology based on hatred for objectivism or analysis kicks in, and you start shouting socalist or marxist or some other Mcarthyistic buzz word from the past.
Just think this through, and follow the trail of ownership. Roger Alies, the director of Fox News, look into his background. Read about the ownership of ABC and Eisner.-

Spare us the crack-pipe leftist fantasy talking points-the people who RUN the news departments are all products of the leftover hippie machines called NYU, Columbia, etc. Not only are you completely talking out of your hindparts in stating that they're all conservative owned (the most hilarious one-Rupert Murdoch is a DEMOCRAT you buffoon!), but the facts speak for themselves-shills like Chris Matthews (with stuff running down his leg), and Olbermann (no liberal bias there...right) are the most damning evidence. Without the overtly liberal agenda of the dinosaur media, Obama would never have been elected-a truly balanced LA Times would have released the tape of Obama toasting the Hamas fundraiser, all the networks would have played the tapes of Obama's interviews from 2002 and 2004 where he speaks of changing the Constitution, forming a civilian security force, bankrupting the coal industry, and more utter insanity. Instead, they opted to break blockbuster stories like Palin's wardrobe budget, or hit pieces on Joe the Plumber.

If all this is true, and I am supposing you did your homework, I have a question. Why are about 75% of these reporters and anchors democrat????? Now that's a fact. The mainstream media and cable news outlets such as MSNBC and CNN have been bias especially since Bush was elected. Dan Rather finally got caught up in it and here is a man I admired, a combat news reporter who let his own feelings take over his better judgement. He paid big for it. I do not watch the two guys who criticized the crying. It appears to be in bad taste, however, it's no different than what has been done by the left wing folks. It's no different than what is going on here. To the immature comments by some, both right and left wingers, I say grow up and take a look at both sides. Lack of respect gets you no where. I watch Fox because I have found it to be fair and balanced. If I didn't think so, I would change channels. We can all do that. I am in my 70's and have lived through 12, now 13 Presidents. Some were good, some not so good. I respected them all, even if I did not agree with them on some issues. I served my Country in the military and am very patriotic. I voted for McCain as I thought he was the better man for the job. He lost and now Obama is going to be our Commander-in Chief. I don't care about his color and I do not put much faith in his campaign promises. BUT, I feel we must ALL get behind this man and try to pull this Country out of this hole. Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible for what has happened. When we all accept that, maybe we can get along and all be Americans together. Our politicans have made us this way as they are boundand determined to put Party before Country. Let's keep an open eye through the next 4 years. Democrat or Republican, if they keep up this division,,,get rid of them. Our vote is so important, we moan and groan, blame the other party for everything, change this, change that. Question,,,how many of you voted for the imcombent this election?? They have been a big part of the problem, both parties, yet we keep voting them into office. GET RID OF THE JERKS. Obama is our President, hopefully he will bail us out in the next 4 years. If he does, I'll vote for him. If not, let's get rid of him. But give him a chance. AND stop this bickering and name calling and let's hope our leaders will do the same. Cross the aisle and get something done!!!

Hey Bilb1234....I agree with most of what you said. And thank you for your service to our country. I don't know if 75% of reporter and anchors are dems, but if you say so, maybe so. I watch MSNBC. I always found them to be pretty non-partisian for the most part. Yes, there is two shows at night; Keith and Rachael that don't hide they are to the left. You say MSNBC and CNN have been bias since Bush. I am not so sure it's bias because they are dems, but just there was so much to say about Bush. I never liked Bush. Call it women's intuition. I don't care if Obama is black, white, purple, green or whatever. I watch a lot of politics, and do research. I find him to be genuine; above the frey of the ole dirty politics. So we will see. We as a nation have to stand by him, give him some time to resolve the problems of this nation, cause God knows; we have many. I think the bar is set high, because he is black, and that's unfortunate. No matter who, there is a large mess to be dealt with.

fox news has the highest rating on cable news for one simple fact: they are the only conservative "news" station out there.

Having news anchors and/or news people crying over this stuff makes me crap! How can you sell the news as impartial when you have correspondents and anchors weeping and getting all misty eyed over ANY news event! Sorta shows that maybe there actually IS a liberal bias in the major network news, don't you think? I think all these guys were pointing out is that hypocracy.

Morons the guy is supposed to be a reporter not a cheerleader thats the point. Thats the only reason Nobama got elected in the first place because the media has been his cheerleader for 22 months. Reporters are supposed to report news, not cheerleader. If the reporter can be objective, he needs to find another line of work.

i think that they were refering to the fact that black people voted for obama simply because he is black. they dont care about the issues. who he hangs out with, his socialist ideas. i dont give a **** what race a president is as long as i think he is the best to run the country, and i dont think he is. to be honest i dont think mccain was either. but that just goes to show you that washington is going to put into power whomever they want. the president is a puppet anyway if you really think about it. he cant even take a **** without asking permission from secret service. so how can he "change" the world. congress makes all the laws. he just signs them in. so its that liberal wacko pelosi everyone should be worrying about. this country is going down the wrong path when you elect someone to the highest office just to say he was the first. dont be mad at me for my ancestors. maybe these people ancestorial chiefs should not have sold their ancestors to the white man. crack open a history book if you dont believe me. and while you are there look up how to democratic party had a strongarm branch called the kkk whos job was to kill republicans black or white. i believe there where over 3000 WHITE people who were lynched. so that is the most ironic to me that black people are now all the suddeen democrats. if you think im prejudice you are dead wrong. i am simply a reader of history and i simply state the facts that so many people painfully overlook.

If your a BIGGOT just say it, If your a RACIST just say it, GO AHEAD,, type it in the big box, I AM A ____________ ,, dont try to rationalize, and search through history to compare what African Americans can do and say, or what they have and dont have, SAY WHO YOU REALLY ARE,, Fact is, Its not about POLITICS, or ASSOCIATIONS, Its about the President Elects RACE, the fact that he is BLACK, and the ignorance of mainstream white America. Its about how dare he run for the highest government office in this land and win. I got a test for you all,, Raise your hand if you, (1) Have a Degree in Law, (2) Graduated top of your class at Harvard, (3) Qualified to run for the office of President of the United States. If you couldn't raise your hand to atleast 2 of these then dont hate, because President Elect didn't take anything from you. Heres another test for you. Raise your hand if you (1) Fear President Elects name. (2) Fear President Elects skin color. If you have raised your hand to any 1 of these, keep your hands up,, now SLAP YOURSELVES 10 times

"Somewhat American citizen?" Guess you can't use a calendar or an encyclopedia. The queen was overthrown in JANUARY 1893 with a provisional government ruling after that. Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959. Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, AFTER Hawaii became a state.

BTW, it is not "dueche bag." The correct spelling is "douche." This attests to your lack of education and ignorance. Do you not own a dictionary?

While you are checking out that dictionary and history book, as so aptly suggested by "catpurrson" (love the name!), please find a calculator while you're at it, because this math will be too much to count on your fingers and toes. Try subtracting 1961 from 2008. Or if working a calculator is too complicated, check out a newspaper or something, which gives Obama's age. Or go to wikipedia and read Obama's bio. I'm not going to tell you his true age...an inquiring mind would try to get it right on his/her own.

How dare they mock someones tears. I am an african american who voted for Barack Obama and I too was choked up about it whether tears were shed or not it was still an emotional moment. If Mccain had won fox news would have shown continuous coverage. I know fox news is not a fan of Obama but who cares he still won. You have to deal with it whether you like it or not. You are not african american so you could never understand how we feel. May I remind you that in this country we were enslaved, lynched, forbidden to get an education, forbidden to vote and denied opportunites at one time or another, but now with the election of a president who happens to be african american and white it means so much more. God knows what he is doing and we just need to do what the bible says and pray for our leaders.

sebs5, I understand that you think non-African Americans cannot understand how you feel.
Reply
No, we can never really know. But I want you to know that many of us are as close as we could ever get to understanding. I grew up in a racist home, but somehow it didn't "take"...probably because one thing my (racist) father always taught me was to think for myself. The joke was on him when I marched out of the house the first day of ninth grade, refusing to go to a white private school and caught the school bus to the newly-integrated high school in 1965. That same day, I volunteered to share a gym locker and to be the biology lab partner for the only Af Amer in my grade. It wasn't a rebellion of my father...it was because it felt right to me.
This was the first presidential campaign I ever worked on, and I worked hard., but not as hard as many others. And I was there at the Democrat Victory Watch when the Victory was announced. We were all overjoyed to have our candidate win, but I (we) understood the deeper meaning to all of us, and the even deeper meaning for the Af Americans there. This was in Huntsville, Alabama.
Don't pay any attention to the ignorant bloggers. They are afraid of the unknown, just like the segregationists used to be. There is a whole nation of white folks who "get it".

And you betcha there were an equal number voting just to be voting against him because he is black, or because they bought the ridiculous propaganda that he is an Arab-Muslim-terrorist. I don't see much difference. Everyone's vote counts equal no matter what their motive is.
BTW, according to an AP article released on Nov 5, this election was not the largest turnout in history....the Kennedy-Nixon election was.
FYI, more of the white electorate voted for Obama than voted for Bush in 2004.

Look folks, if you all want to say this guy has no class, fine. I'll agree with you. However, everyone needs to get off their rampage against FOX News. Making ridiculous comments against FOX News such as "Fake News", "wannabe news journalists", etc. just shows that most of you do not do your own research before speaking. Why is it that Fox News has been ranked #1 in the U.S. for the past few years if they are so horrible and unbalanced? Also, a recent poll stated that Fox News was by far the most fair and balanced in their staff representation. I believe the numbers were roughly 45% Republican...38% Democrat...the remaining amount were Independent. Compare those numbers to MSNBC, CNN, NBC, etc. where the same poll stated that approximately 80%+ of the staff for these companies were Democrats and Republicans only represented about 8%. Please, folks, before you make comments that are just flat out false, and thus make you look very uninformed and unintelligent, do some research! I don't care which side of the line you want to walk on, but just respect ALL sides and do some research. There is nothing worse than hearing misinformed people speak.

Par for the course for Fox News. Fox and its affiliates clearly make up a huge percentage of the 25% of the national population that thinks George Bush is a good president. Fox needs to take "news" out of the title because there is no "news" contained in their reports, it is all biased, right wing "chatter" that should be copy for a comic strip somewhere.

Empathy is a trait found only in the most intelligent species. Morons and animals rarely exhibit even a trace of it. Hence, Fox news, Hannity & Colmes, Bill O'Reilly, as well as Greg Gutfield and his comically challenged cohorts are not suited to understand one man's and perhaps an entire race's emotional response to Obama's election win. I don't know if I can truly relate to what the reporter felt after witnessing the first event of its kind in the history of our nation. But then again, my great grand parents weren't slaves, my parents weren't denied the right to eat at certain tables, and I've never been denied a job, loan, or entrance into a social organization because of the color of my skin. Since I cried that night having experienced none of those things... I'd have to say I admired the reporter's self control. Congratulations Obama and all who voted for you!! Oh, and Greg and friends, good luck in your next careers maybe next time you could try the high road like our new president.

Why is it "low" to mock a Obama supporting reporter? I missed the news flash the said mocking public figures is "low". I know if I were to look into the archives on this blog I would find similar comments on how tasteless it was to mock Sarah Palin. After all this blog must maintain a strong degree of credibility.

Greg Gutfeld is making a point the news media refused to acknowledge this year. "Reporters" like Steve Osunsami should not have been covering the election. They wanted Obama elected. The should not have been acting as " reporters". They would have been more professional if they had disclosed their bias.
Can anyone say Chris Matthews?
"Journalist" try to convince people they are not biased. Almost anyone with a decent education can figure out a reporter's bias just by listening to him/her cover a few stories.
Was Obama's election an important day in American history? Yes. Should "reporters" lose composure when covering a story? No. Dollars to donuts those people who think the reporter's tears were justified because he was black, would be that same people who would complain loudest when the see video of police officers losing composure after an intense chase, and arrest of a violent offender. -

Obama, who is half white, is no more "black" than Tiger Woods is black and doesn't have a single drop of African-American blood in him, nor does he have any "slave" roots, so stop gushing over him. He grew up in a priveleged world, allowing him access to the best schools and acadamies. Like any slick politician, he identified himself with the group that would deliver his biggest political base. He's using that base the same way Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do to further his own ambitions for power... and the masses of as*es swallowed his "promises hook, line, and sinker. People will soon realize the mess they created with a Democrat congress and a rubber-stamp Democrat president. I fully expect another Republican Congress in 2 years, the same way we got one after the first 2 years of Clinton.

As for Obama, while he is of two races & two religions, no slavery history other than family owned some, abandoned by his father, denied his mother, raised by his grandparents (whom he less than choice words to describe them)... this had to create major internal conflict... making him rebellious esp when seeking out friendships & ideologies.
He supposedly wants to identify himself only as black (denying white) but if one were to look at how he "protected" the blacks in Chicago.... you would say he has no respect for the black community. He was in it only for his & his croonies financial gain. It's terrible that he isn't proud to be black either. He proved it by totally screwing those poor people who believed 'one of their own' would protect them! Unfortunately, those people & many others could only see the opportunity to have a black person in the White House...without educating themselves first!
Going back to radical ideologies, look at his friends & mentors...sure hope his deep deep hatred of so many things from such a radical upbringing doesn't come at a cost to our country & all of it's true American citizens. God Bless America.-

Folks, my fellow blacks are going overboard. Obama is biracial. I would wager that he does not consider himself as an "African American." This would be very offensive to the memory of his white mother, grandmother and grandfather. He was not raised by his black father. Obama didn't really know his father. His white grandmother essentially raised him. I think it is very wrong to put him in the history books as the 1st African American President. In my opinion, a person would have to be at 75% black to get that label. Remember, folks, Obama is just as white as he is black.

Ask any Holocost survivor what it felt like to be singled out because of their beliefs and I am sure they would feel the same as that reporter. It makes me furious that a young football player was released from his college football team for using very bad judgement and posting something very hateful and yet we stand for this?

Freedom of speech, yes but to what extent. Fox News is by far the scurge of the national news media. The network appeals to the right wing fringe that appears to relish class eltism based on race. The network employes the most socially dangerous demogagues in the US. From Hannity (the fat faced bigot) to O'Reilly (the emotionally disturb diarrhea of the mouth constipation of the brain denizen of the airways) to the far right anarchist such as Karl Rove, Ann Coulture Oliver North, and the mentally disturbed G. Gordon Liddy. Oh, forgot the supreme 'ditz' E. D. Hill ("I got that news from the Internet")

From another perspective, the real shame is there is a market for these far right zealots.-

You're absolutely right-the airwaves should be reserved for only far left fascists like you. The truth only seems far right to you because you're so far left you're out of frame. Do you know which president stood up for the virtues of tax cuts as a means of stimulating the economy, and free enterprise as the best means of creating jobs and prosperity? JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY-if he were around today people like you would label him 'far right'! Some intellectually dishonest liberals wanted to paint Obama as a new JFK, yet Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country", while Obama said in a radio interview in 2002 that the Constitution is flawed because it only deals with what the government can't do to you, rather than dealing with what he believes should be the case-what the government HAS to do for you. Who's the one who's out of frame here?

dezd - You are partially correct. Kennedy was for tax cuts, but he was not strictly a supply side economist. The prevailing business atmosphere was against Kennedy. He was labelled anti-business.
Reply
Why?
Because the tax cuts he wanted were for the middle and lower classes. Kennedy was a strong believer in demand driven economy. He believed tax cuts for the middle class would create rising demand for goods. The business and upper class were strongly opposed to those kinds of tax cuts. In the end Kennedy had to compromise on his original tax plan.
Kennedy's tax policies were actually much closer to Obama's than to Bush's. Bush is strictly a trickle down disciple where tax cuts are primarily given to the rich and to corporations. Trickle down has been discredited by the economic conditions of the past 2 decades. Under Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II, all 3 of whom instituted trickle down tax policies, the poverty rates went up; even as the economies seemed to boom.
Bush I had the misfortune of meeting up with a recession that forced him to increase taxes. The poverty rate by the end of his term shot up to 15.7%
Only under Clinton did we see tax rates properly increased to the highest 1.2% of income earners and large tax cuts given to the middle class and 90% of small businesses. His economic policies launched a 10 year economic expansion that extended into the first 2 years of Bush II's term.
Now Obama wants to return to the tax policies of both JFK and Clinton and increase the taxes on the rich and decrease the taxes on the middle class. He wants to raise the demand side to stimulate the factories (supply side) to increase production and create more jobs.
The truth only seems far left to you because you're so far right you're out of frame. Some intellectually dishonest conservatives refuse to paint Obama as the new JFK.
In reality, the terms of Kennedy and Clinton prove middle class tax cuts and demand side economics work far better than tax cuts to the rich and trickle down economics. Obama is simply following tried and true formulas. The Republican terms of Reagan and both Bush's have each created ever record-setting heights of budget deficits and soaring national debt.
Who's the one who's out of frame here?

I cried too, out of total disbelief that Americans would elect someone they know nothing about, only based on the color of his skin and not based on his qualifications, his beliefs, or what he can do for this country. It was a sad day for America, a loss for capitalism and democracy and only a gain for the socialists.

He's their to report the news. Not tell us his life story and say how proud he is that Obama made it. This was a big problem with the news station and papers during this elections. They were in the tank for Obama and could not report responsible or fairly. You people Bitch about Fox news but then say nothing about MSNBC and their reporting. Funny how you have two sets of standards of reporting. This proves to me that the press is in the back pockets of the our politicians. And also swayed the out come of an election. And I don't mean just by Obama betting McCain this also goes back to the primary race. It's very sad that the press has lost their morels and standards and has shaped our government and should have done nothing but report the news.

I think the whole thing is funny. His show is based on sarcasm. Geez, get over yourselves. And just remember this. Obama is 1/2 WHITE and 1/2 BLACK. He's not African American, he's caucasian/black. So that means he's just as white as he is black.......so stop with all the flag waving.....it's only 1/2 a victory.

Why can't a reporter show an emotional side of himself at such an important time in history. I am a white, middle-aged, retired teacher who thinks it is disgusting to mock this man's emotions and to say that he was faking. Who are these people to judge his emotions.

I FIND THAT FUNY. NOT REALLY HA,HA, FUNNY. BUT IRONIC FUNNY. I THINK THIS REPORTER WAS JUST OFFENED AT THE FACT, THAT NOW WE(USA) HAVE A BLACK-AMERICAN PRESIDENT. WHATS FUNNY(HA,HA FUNNY) ABOUT THE ENTIRE STORY IS THAT , FOR ONE HE WOULD'VE NEVER LAFFED IN THE GUYS FACE FOR CRYING, AND TWO I BET HIS FATHER NEVER SAID TO HIM, THAT THERE WILL NEVER BE A BLACK PRESIDENT. IN THE UPBRINGING OF THE REPOTER WHO LAFFED NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH RACE, UNLESS HE WAS FIXING TOAST TO GO ALONG WITH HIS BREAKFAST. AS A BLACK MAN LIVING IN AMERICA, LET ME, LET YOU GUYS IN ON A LITTLE SECRET.... RACISM IS A WAY OF LIFE FOR ALL AMERICANS... SOME OF US (MOST OF US) DEAL WITH IT AS A FORM OF INJUSTICE. AND SOME OF US DEAL WITH IT AS A WAY OF JUSTICE AGAINST SOMEONE WHO LOOKS DIFFERENT.. BUT WE ALL MUST GET BETTER AT IT AND UNDERSTAND THAT, IT IS A MAN-MADE CREATION, THAT CAN ONLY BE DESTROYED BY MAN. TATS MY TWO PENNIES.... IF I OFFENED ANYONE ON HEAR WHO MIGHT READ THIS, MY BAD-LOL. GROW A PAIR AND DON'T BE SO SENSITIVE.

Interesting to note that people indeed poked fun at Sarah Palin for her inability to speak coherently. Her own campaign team is now venting their true thoughts on the woman whose ego vastly outstripped her abilities. Bush too has been called quite a few names because of his inability to tell the truth, lead, speak coherently, or say the word nuclear. Their emotions were not in dispute it was their repeated acts of incompetence that made them funny if not pathetic. The night of Barack Obama's win we witnessed history and some people who thought that day would never come may have reacted viscerally to that event. Black reporters have never had to face that situation in the history of our country. We might cut them a little slack. Or, at least we can hold out the possibility that their tears were genuine.

Fox news is a bunch of stupid little robots who will only cheer on Republican successes.... which lately has been things like Bush not falling down, or throwing up on someone. Im a white guy, but if they think that Black reporter was faking tears, they are even "stupider" and more bitter than I can imagine. This is the Fox News that cheered Bush on as he declared an immoral illegitamate war on IRAQ, the same Fox News who cheered Bush on as he lied to the AMERICAN people some 900 times. The same Fox News that cheered as Bush cut taxes and ran our economy into the friggin ground. The same Fox news that Cheered Bush on as he insulted and alienated all our previous allies, the Same Fox News that cheered Bush on when he said 3 months ago that our Economy was "SOUND"....

So sad that so many white people actually feel this way. Until they've walked in a Black person's shoes, they will never ever understand just what Obama's winning this election means. They obviously are trying whatever it takes to get some laughs. Commedians they are not. Nor are they journalists. Just faces on the tv screen. They can make light of it all they want. The facts remain! History has been made!

Look out the past always re-visits the future. The white man will never be owned by the black man and vice versa. This is deeper I believe a civil war is coming that the black man can not win. Nor the white man. All hail the anti-christ. It is not about black or white this election was about Godly principles against wordly principles. Funny how people are so easily fooled. Turn from your sin and serve Jesus Christ not Barack Obama or (MOAAB) I should say.

Fox News represents the "dark" side of what passes as intelligence in this country....what some of the Joe Six-Packs WANT to say and guffaw at but don't dare, partially because it's just offensive and partially because it harks back to the 19th century. Please...the man was elected and people who never thought they would see it in their lifetime were moved...and we are the better for it and probably have shocked the world more than we know. The chuckleheads who pass for anchorpersons on Fox News just don't know how to deal with it yet.

What an A-Hole these so called men are.... The reporter was real and I have a lot more respect the reporter for showing his emotions than these nitwits...Greg Gutfeld and his apparent sidekick Bill Schulz... I am white and I never thought I would see this day, either...and I am proud of my fellow citizens who voted for hope that we can turn this messy economy around rather than by race, which by now shouldn't matter... But, because of these sort of nasty talk show folks, we know it still does... When are they going to get the message that race means a lot less about a person than what they want to do... Most of us realize that... They need to grow up and learn a few things.

I don't think we should make fun of a person who is happy that his party won and cries about it, but ABC issued an order several months ago forbidding its reporters from wearing American flag pins because it would imply that they would take sides. If this guy wants to cry, do it off camera. ABC is obviously biased. Anti-American, pro-Obama. No wonder people are turning away from the network news. I can get promotional materials from the DNC for free as junk mail...I don't need to watch it on TV.

First of all, he's not an anchor. He hosts a comedic program that pokes fun of the news. Reporters are supposed to control their emotions, not take a side in the news and report the facts. Some journalists have even gone as far to say that they wouldn't root for US soldiers when reporting a war. That's why many won't wear a flag pin. Why should this election be any different??

Professional reporters don't show emotion. Anyone in the media who can't report the facts and keep their opinions to themselves (essentially all the formerly major networks) should work for the Enquirer. The way the formerly large networks are in the tank for the Democrat party is pathetic.
