YouTube - A Prayer for Barack - Braddah Iz »
Posted By Spadecaller 1 year ago in Arts & EntertainmentAfter the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., many of us are especially concerned since the momentous election of Barack Obama. The following video is a tribute to President elect Barack Obama and features a poem (“Into the Winds of Change”) about this subject; written and narrated by Spadecaller. The paintings of Bougereau, Flavitsky, and Hopper augment Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s recording of “What a Wonderful World – Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

Into the Winds of Change
Reply
A violent history haunts our nation’s triumph like a ghost
Amidst the tears and cheers for President elect Barack Obama.
I hear John F. Kennedy, brother Bobby, and Reverend Martin Luther King,
I can hear their voices whispering louder than ever
Into the winds of change.
In a world at peril a noble leader has risen above the cowardly chatter.
His name alone taunts the bedeviled soul,
Who lives by fear and thrives on hate alone.
Calling to our better selves,
We join him on those ancient steps
Before the Promised Land,
Where our greatest martyrs had fallen
Thousands of years ago.
In the darkness of our time, kindred spirits heed his shining pledge for peace and hope.
Gray-haired leaders, young idealists, and untested warriors we take the road
With Judas Iscariot’s army of spies,
Marching with the anglers of ambition, partisan patsies, and lurking lobbyists
Who roam the halls of Washington
Preying on our weaknesses like hungry jackals.
In the smiling eyes of Obama’s children I see the reflection of a nightmare past
When the trumpet once blared and the guns fired
To mourn and honor the death of another young president
And to the heavens I cry, “let him live this time!
Hasn’t enough blood stained these shadowy steps?”
Let us climb them together despite the predators of hope.
Protect him. Free him from the violence of our past.
Keep him safe from the assassins of change,
The anglers of ambition, and the hatred of racism.
Let our children see our leaders triumph in the name of peace.-

What a waste of 8 minutes of my time that youtube video was. Comparing the Kennedy's and King to this current situation....unbelievable!. I can understand the King reference, and I am with you...I celebrate America in electing an African American. However, the democrat party today is by no means the democrat party of yesterady. Bush would have been a leftist to the Kennedys. I did notice Jesse Jackson crying at Obama's acceptance speech. Most people would think those were tears of "wow, we have overcome all obstacles and now a black man is in charge of the country". Nope.. Jackson's tears were for himself. Now him and the other race pimps like sharpton are out of a job.

I would love to see Obama have a successful presidency. I am glad the race pimps are running scared. But in all honesty, no matter who was elected...a lot of tests and trials are to come.

the relief we all feel is but the first step in this new chapter.

since we now know the role the secret service and fbi played in past "mishaps," we cannot help but wonder about the future.
and as you say, all we can do is ask the gods for protection. thank you for this.-

I wonder if we'll ever know in our life time the real facts about those "mishaps". A lot of people associated with them moved to high places and it sure was a "lucky" break for Nixon who was in danger of losing his bid for presidency by another Kennedy who was very popular.

Thanks dade. Those of us who lived through those years, when we lost our must respected and loved leaders cannot help feeling concerned. Barack is smart, real smart; I imagine he has devised some new checks and balances. It is certainly a dangerous position for he and his family.

Nice work Spadecaller. It is sad that in order to make America a better country his life is in jeopardy from the get go....even worse that he fear it happen on American soil more than another country and in another contrived event.

It is time that American stop interfering in other countries. -

My brother told me this last night. His wife's daughter said she was praying for Obama's assassination! My brother is dying of lung cancer, and he was so upset that his step daughter could be praying for something this heinous. My brother and his wife are both Democrats, and both voted for Obama.. He thinks his step daughter said that to hurt them because she knows how they voted.

This is less than a drop in the bucket of the people who feel this way.. Keep the prayers coming for Barack Obama and his family Spadecaller, they need every prayer they can get.-

You can be certain that all presidents have had people that would like to see them dead. Reagan was shot, Bush's death was called for by members of this very site.

No one should ever want a president to be assassinated but the truth is there are always people that want whoever the president at the time to meet an ill fated end. -

I'm sorry for your brother and his wife.
As for the daughter who is praying for that. Well, I'm quite sure she is not alone. Nor are her prayers not heard. I'm very sure she will be disappointed when she comes to face her reckoning before God.
Not quite sure God will be real pleased with that.
Nor will she be pleased to know many of us are praying for Gods divine guidance for Obama and His hand upon him in all that he does and faces.
Yes there is the chance of an idiot doing it again !!!
But I honestly don't believe they will get through this time !!!!!

Well done again my friend.
Sanity is a flexible term.
One might be sane in many things but insanely murderous over various perceived wrongs in the world.
Scary sh*t man.
Remember to some idiots racism is a good thing.
They take pride in being hateful to those they feel are beneath them socially, economically, racially,.... fill in the blank.

I have prayed for this day to come for years, in fact you can go back to my comments from the early days of Propeller when I would pray for God to drive Satan from our Government and Corporations only to be slammed by the Rep. shills "are you calling Bush satan", etc.....Yes, I am calling him a pawn of Satan....

I do consider my prayers answered with this election and by the looks of Wall Street house is being cleaned out there also. I did neglect in my prayers to add that no innocents would suffer.......but I see I have to amend my daily mantra of prayer to include financial relief for those who did no wrong but have gotten hurt in all this.
President Elect Obama needs Prayers of protection daily due to the racist evil in our country. I have read comments on this site that are so hateful, and what bothers me is that there are enough nut cases out there to plot some thing.-

There's already been one active plot thus far -- well and boldly foiled, thank God -- and that was while he was still just RUNNING for president. And it's not merely racist loons like the Tennessee skinheads posing such a sinister menace at this breathtakingly unique juncture in our nation's history. In fact it needn't be any kind of "loon" at all, be they racist, jingoist, supremacist or what have you. Think of the visions of Camelot 48 years ago, and ponder the present-day parallels. Think of what that Camelot meant back in those days as an overt threat to the shadowy aims of the then comparatively nascent but already far-reaching and powerful military-industrial complex -- the very entity about which our preceding head of state had so assiduously, and presciently, warned us. Consider the sheer strength of the forces now in place after eight years of a rapidly closing society under republi-fascism, and it is readily apparent the most compelling threat by far to Obama's survival comes not from the fringes of discontent and the inchoate rage simmering among racists and other whackos, but from deep within the frozen, darkened, pathological heart of the very seat of power over which he will now preside as chief executive. With the forces of fascism having worked this hard for this long to close our country down into a fear riddled garrison-state, who among us, including the president, is any longer at liberty to feel safe?

After what Liz Trotta said on faux noise, and the fact that the host laughed about it, 2 Democrats were gunned down. This is a very serious and believable situation. Does anyone else remember this?

I was at work the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was a terrible day for all people and for our country. I was also there to see Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy killed. I am praying that we as a civilized country have moved beyond that third world mentality. I know that is pie in the sky hope but I hope that Barak will be given the opportunity to show us the change he so eloquently promised. We must put aside the divisive partisanship, our prejudices and unite as Americans and support our president in hopes of producing a change that we as a country so sorely need.
