How is this not socialism? The government steps in every time the Automakers are about to fail and provide them with money to pay their workers and 're-tool' to make gas-guzzling monsters that break down within a year.

The Dems are wrong on this. As much sympathy as I have for the auto industry workers, bailout money will most likely go to CEOs for their retirement packages and greedy retired workers who want more than they're entitled to.
The auto companies have either failed or almost failed something like six times in my lifetime. Obviously their business model is *wrong* in some fundamental ways.
It's time to let them collapse, go bankrupt, fall into ashes so that some bright phoenix can arise and find a new direction for the transportation industry in America.-

The auto industry pays workers not to work. It is ridiculous and stupid for tax payers to give them money for them to give to workers who don't work.

I agree. Let them fail. Capitalism is about failure isn't it? Only the good business plans work. So let them fail so something new can take their place. Something that works. -

The Chrysler "bailout" was a loan that Chrysler paid back with a very large interest rate because they had to give the government a chunk of stock they had to buy back at the then current stock rates. Then people like you say GIVE instead of LOAN. You liberals just like to rant about lies.-
