What a garbage piece. It is normal for the opposition to congratulate the winner and wish him well. This author must come from a different planet where that is not done. He takes what is normal and makes something else out of it.
Reply
The political writers and talkers have never been party to that even though they will wish him to do the best for the country. Right now the waiting starts. After the inauguration the MSM will have a honeymoon time of about 100 days and then the criticisms start from them. That is traditional as well.
Then the fun begins libs. Obama will be fair game for everybody.

Finding unity sounds like what America needs. -

These hypocrites and snakes should be kept at a distance. They did not change but opened their foul mouth for the moment to make believe that they are on the right side of HISTORY made on 11/4/08.

. Everyone at FOX News
. Joe Lieberman
. Elizabeth Hassleback
. Lou Dobbs
. Rudy Guiliani
. Mitt Romney
To be honest, on 11/4/08 we had 4 weddings and a funeral:
Weddings: CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN
Funderal: FOX News
No one from FOX News should be allowed in the vicinity of the White House and no one should be allowed a question at Obama press conferences. Let them move Arizona and Alaska.-

The same applies to you.
Just because someone didn't support your man they are to be 'put in their place'? That is exactly what is wrong with America. That kind of thinking. Working together will help solve problems and a two party system will continue to give our country balance. Grow up -

As much as FOX loves to twist the news and promote lies, no media should ever be banned from covering the White House. That said, some of those 'journalists' in the White House should grow a pair and ask serious questions. -

WHAT? What a ridiculous and ignorant statement.

This isn't North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, China or Russia! As Obama said, "This is and always will be THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"
EVERYONE has the right to free speech, even if you or I don't agree with them.
But, I'm sure glad that you aren't the typical type of person that backs and supports Obama because if you were, there would be absolutely no way for any type of unity in America. -

You are the hypocrite nikkibabe. You have Absolutely no understanding of the American political process. This is a normal thing that happens after every presidential election. Live in reality instead of your foreign fantasy land about what you think America is.

I'm not going to annoint him or anything. But he did win the election, and he's the Prez. He deserves a chance to show what he can, or maybe can't, do. To me, the economy is job the first. What he does may take a long time to come to fruition, and the short-term numbers may not always show success. Forbearance for commentators may be the order of the day. Think that like any newly elected Prez that he'll have to work around the edges for awhile.

Here is something that came out of a COUPLE or Washington D.C. elections.

If you are a Democratic Mayor and found guilty of smoking crack in a hotel room with a hooker, after getting out of jail, you can run for Mayor again and get reelected!
As Chris Rock once said, "Smoke crack, get your job back? How the hell did that happen? You can't even smoke crack at McDonalds and get your job back! They won't even let you handle the Happy Meals!"
Then get caught again with Marijuana and Coke and you still get your job back!
How the hell does that happen?
Gee, what filtered thoughts your little mind has!

I don't really think that the statements directly out of the article are "praises" for Obama as the author states.
Reply
Maybe one from Lieberman's spokesman is a "praise" about being a patriot.
In general, these seem more like praise for the fact that a huge barrier has been overcome and about “a tremendous signal we sent.”
Ms. Bachmann
=============
“extremely grateful that we have an African-American who has won this year.”
“a tremendous signal we sent.”
Ms. Palin
=========
“Barack Obama has been elected president,”
“Let us, let us — let him — be able to kind of savor this moment, one, and not let the pettiness of maybe internal workings of the campaign erode any of the recognition of this historic moment that we’re in. And God bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family.”
Mr. McCain
===========
“a historic election” and hailed the “special pride” it held for African-Americans.
President Bush
==============
“a stirring sight.”
Mr. Lieberman
=============
congratulating Mr. Obama for “his historic and impressive victory.” It continued, “The American people are a people of extraordinary fairness.”
Marshall Wittmann, a spokesman for Mr. Lieberman
================================================
“It’s over, and it’s genuinely time to find unity and move forward behind the new president.”
“He believes that President-elect Obama — and, then, Senator Obama — is a genuine patriot and loves his country,”
==============================================
I still disagree with Obama's Ideologies that he stated during the elections, but now that he is OUR President, I hope he is a good President and I hope he is successful in somehow or other heading us on a better path from where Bush took us.
I still hope that he doesn't raise taxes and I still hope he doesn't implement THE MAJORITY of his economic, spending and social plans that he stated during the elections.
I also hope the mainstream media starts being fair and truthful about what Obama is doing and does, and I hope they speak up when/if he makes mistakes and or dumb decisions, but even with this article, it seems that they will not.
As I've said, only time will tell about Obama's Presidential performance and also, if the MSM will be fair and truthful and will speak up for and against the good AND bad decisions that Obama makes while at the reigns of America.
I honestly hope, ESPECIALLY because of the historic role that Obama is in, that when his Presidency is over, that we can look back and say that he really did end up being a good, even great, President. -

It is interesting to see that now the neocons ans right wingnuts want to work "together" to rebuild our country. No doubt it is a noble idea. What surprises me is these same folks were busy slashing and burning whatever bipartisanship that was left, before the election.

The article asks, Does this signal a new era of cooperation within Washington politics. Judging from the raging debate I see above, I hardly think so. :)

Maybe a bit more civility can creep in, though. Any move in that direction is a good thing, because as Jesus said, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation." -

So what do the dems want? To continue to fight the election? Or get past it and on with the business of helping the country?
Reply
I'm getting the distinct impression that it is the former.
So when people are gracious in defeat and offer their congratulations that's wrong? My daughter's T-Ball team had more class and maturity than what I'm reading, the parents insisted the teams line up and congratulate each other regardless of who one. Some people learn these lessons at an early age, but I guess some never do.
AND, I thought the reason you guys won is because you are the party of inclusion, just not repubs, huh?
Some people are poor losers....and some are poor winners. -

I think that there is a big difference in wishing one well or congratulating a person and praising him. Congatulations were in order after winning the election but the praise will have to be earned. I was looking for a change in your country but I will say that Obama was sold to you like a new model of car, so it will take time to see if he is new and different or just another car. I hope that this comment is not look apon as an insult to the man but it is how I felt about his campaign.
