You know, I am no Sarah Palin fan, but I tend to agree with her on this one. All those back biters who are now so willing to throw her under the bus when just a week ago they were kissing her butt and pretending everything was wonderful have done nothing to be commended for. If they were so outraged by her behavior, then where were these "leaks" when it might have counted? They didn't seem to find a problem with the "Wasilla hillbilly" until the election was lost. But if they had won, she'd have been their "folksy hero."
Reply
I think what she's done is despicable..spending campaign money on shopping sprees for her family, etc...and I am very glad she wasn't elected because her lack of working knowledge of basic world facts (like Africa is a continent, not a nation, for example) make the idea of any administration including her beyond frightening. That being said, however, doesn't excuse these cowards for now piling on. They SHOULD have said these things weeks ago. Since they didn't, saying them now makes them look even smaller and pettier than the woman they are now trying to tear down. Frankly, its a pathetic spectacle that all involved should be ashamed of. -

Let me see. I heard from someone in the Obama campaign that he wears pink panties. Obama is the anti Christ Obama said he was in 57 states. Does this sound ridiculous? Anyone can make statements, but to make them without a name or a hint of a name is cowardly, The person the charges are made aginst cannot really comment. I think the RNC has to get into this. The RNC is close to losing conservatives like me. Frankly, it would probably be better to have 3 or 4 parties any way. We could have a conservative, a liberal, a libertarian, and a I don't know who to vote for because I don't know anything party.

I admire Sarah Palin for running for vice-president and for exposing her family to the "Sickness" of some campaign tactics. I believe that she posed a threat to the political corruption that is the backbone of the American political system.
Reply
Enough American voters trusted the Democratic rhetoric to vote them into both the presidency and congress. If these people are paying attention, they will notice that the presidential advisors are from the Clinton and Carter eras and they were chosen by the party leaders because of their EXPERIENCE.
If these people followed their own history, they might notice that it is not until the SYSTEM changes that REAL change happens. McCain and Palin lost this election because they were going to attack political corruption which is rampant in our system. Why do people think that people become career politicians anyway? When Citigroup, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America spend 4 to 5 million dollars to lobby in congress something is wrong with THE SYSTEM. Obama is not ignorant either. Hawaii is known for its "Good Old Boy's." You have to buy Birthday Party tickets to talk to politicians about anything. Then, its the group that makes the biggest donation that gets what they want. Until we the people demand and elect Hired Help that has some integrity nothing will change and career politicians will continue to rake in the bucks.-

What you don't seem to grasp is that the "change" democrats were voting for wasn't a change from what worked in the past for leading democrats. It was a vote for change away from the past decade or so of republican rule and partisan divisiveness that has become the norm. The fact that Obama is smart enough to tap into the talent that's been proven to succeed in the past shows he knows what he's doing, not the opposite.
Reply
Change from partisan politics..not change from successful, proven government. BIG difference. Not that any of this has anything to do with Sarah Palin being thrown under the bus by her republican contemporaries... -

We need to not let up on the incoming administration. There is simply too much at stake. I am glad that Obama has been elected, but that does not make everything alright in my book. He needs to show us that he can tackle these problems and get out there and show some courage for America.

I do not envy him at all. He has a mountainous job in front of him. Lets give him all the help he needs, but don't accept anything but what is right to correct this path we are on. -

You are so right with the corruption. I have company insurance that cost me $380 a month. This year they decided to make the deductable $1,000 per person in my family. That is $5,000. Last year my insurance co paid out 0 dollars to doctors for my family. I tried to cancel my insurance and the co said NO!. Then I get a letter that the company is paying out all these millions in insurance cost and the price is going to go up. Where do you go to get a break in this country. If I dont pay the insurance I could have saved $2500 last year.

I dont care who is in the White House as long as they can fix this kind of crap. I know the Republicans have had their time in the white house as have the Democrats. Congress is the one that runs the cournty anywas so we need to quit paying so much attention to the President and get a decent and honest Congress in there. -

I think Palin and McCain have each become representations of 2 of the directions different factions within the GOP wish to see their party evolve towards. Palin representing the conservative wing who think that the right stance on culture war issues is more important than intellect. McCain representing the more moderate faction who seeks to be more inclusive.

The idea that Palin can, in 2012, become President is simply grotesque. This is a woman who has never applied for a passport, has never been outside the U.S. Someone who took 6 years to get an undergraduate degree in "communication" from some backwater college. If her interview with Katie Couric did not scare you, perhaps the fact that she fell for the prank of the two Canadian radio hosts will. They mentioned the film "Nailin' Sarah Paylin to her, a porno which they called the "story of her life" and she was delighted by it. They called the Canadian Prime Minister the name of a Qubecois country singer, repeated ithe name twice and then asked whther she had ever met that Prime Minister. She said no, she had never met that Prime Minister but was looking forward to do so in the future.
Reply
The woman is an uneducted empty suit, her appeal lies with the ultra right wing social conservatives, a group that is getting smaller and a hindrance to winning election. RIP Palin you had your 15 minutes of fame, now shut up alreaqdy.-

I wonder how well you would have done. Let's see she's giving speeches in 3 - 4 states a day, the call was put on her schedule days earlier, campaign staff answered the call and told her it was French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Obviously ther is no way she could know the voices or names of every dignitary in the world.
Reply
Let me ask you who the Canadian Prime Minister is, can you do it without looking it up? Didn't think so. Can you even name the Senators of your homestate without looking them up? How about your state representative for your district?
Like my grandmother used to say, "Just remember those who point fingers at other have 4 more pointing back at them."

Another thing, campaign staffers are supposed to do everything they can to help their candidates be as successful as possible. If they were supposedly putting the VP candidate on the phone with a foreign dignitary they should have had a short bio on the dignitary ready for her when they handed her the phone. The fact that the call got through and even took place shows what a crappy job those jerks were doing to begin with.

Sarah Palin is one of the most intelligent, down to earth ladies I know of. She doesn,t let it go to her head. I wish she could be sitting in Nancy Pelosi's chair. If we had someone like her in Congress, our economy would not be in the shape it is in. If McCain's camp would have left her alone they would have got somewhere. Now that they have lost, they want to blame someone besides their self. So Sarah is their Patsy. If the NRP had someone to go pick out her some clothes, they must have got several items for their self. I can't see Sarah spending that much on clothes in 20 years. she is a down to earth girl. not the stereotype they have sitting up there in their offices spending our money however they want. That would not go on if Sarah was in there. I , plus a lot of others have a big problem having to help pay for peoples homes, when they tried to live above their means. My home is nice, but modest,And it is paid for. So it is time to quit downing someone who just tried to help you get elected, I believe she would have if you would have let her. Whoever is telling all these slanderous lies should at least admit who they are. Sign your name, it will eventually be let out, eveything else is. And Sarah didn't even want the clothes.

Gov. Palin you are the biggest joke of the year. You really dont believe the hype around your VP candicy. The clothes, your travel, your embarrasement to all working class moms wasnt enough. You have nothing to cry about. Be thankful for what you got and if you are asked to give it back then just do so. Your neighbors in Russia will toss you something from the backyard fence.

Your joke about Russia in the backyard may not be such a joke if they decide to launch a missile attack. Guess who is the first line of defense in case that happens? You guessed it, Alaska's 49th Missile Defense Battalion. They may likely be the ones to save our butts someday, who knows.

McCain and ilk are trying to make her their "fall-gal". The thing is, no Palin, and, McCain would have REALLY failed against Obama. But, Palin was caught between being the Conservative she was, and being the Liberal that McCain was. Mixed signals, mixed messages, it wasn't long for her to realize that she was screwed.

Do you really think that Sarah Palin personally went in all these stores on a wild shopping spree? Don't you think the media would have been following her like a pack of wolves whenever she stepped outside her hotel door? Don't you think some sales person, wanting their 15 minutes of fame, would have come forward by now and told their story, including what size she wears?

So, UNTIL they come up with her signature on the credit card receipts, I will withhold judgement. I think she was just doing as told and is now being smeared for someone else's actions. -

First of all, I don't think that Palin was all that far from just being as normal as the rest of us. She was drafted by the McCain camp to run for VP, and in this neck of the woods she was very popular. But after the election, when I saw Faux news bashing her right and left, I didn't believe most of what they were saying. It seemed to me that they were needing a scapegoat, and she was the perfect candidate.
It reminded me of the weeks following GW's inauguration when rumors were going wild about the Clinton's and their alleged vandalistic acts when leaving the whitehouse.
I consider all of this just more Republican smear. Sara Palin has just learned one rough lesson!-

The vandalism wasn't alleged, the GSA revised their initial report, and the vandalism was real. It just wasn't the sort of thing the media wanted to talk about, it didn't fit the agenda. And our President didn't want to lower himself to waste time on the past, he had better things to do than smear someone else's administration. I think it was probably Ms Barbara's influence. But dang it dear Lady, I know the "If you don't have something good to say about someone say nothing" maxim.

The sad story is that McCain couldn't choose the running mate he really, really wanted, because of strong opposition from the right wingnuts. Joe Lieberman, who stood behind McCain for 18 months, and staked his own future with his party, with the hope of being a running mate again, lost again. Then, in a strange and reckless Hail Mary Pass, McCain chose Palin on the recommendation of a bunch of neocons who were dazzled by the "attributes" of Palin during their trip to Alaska. No vetting, no background check, no credential check! He thought that her beauty contest runner-up charm would add the star power to his ticket.
Reply
For a man of his age and supposed wisdom, he should have seen the fallacy of his impulsive decision. But he didn't! The rest is history.
Palin never had the qualifications, experience or the depth of knowledge to be prepared to assume the office of the President at a moment's notice. She was just a babe in the woods.
She can cry all she wants and blame every one on this planet, but it just doesn't change the fact that she just didn't have it!
McCain's campaign staff has been grumbling about her "diva" style and shallow knowledge long before the end of the campaign. It was obvious to most of us who saw the hype and theater at the Republican convention. The carriage was destined to become a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight, and the horse was destined to become a mouse!
It was the end of a fairy tale!
I think both McCain and Palin deserved what they got! -

Ms. Palin's clothes are no concern of anyone's. as the party may spend contributions as they see fit. This isn't taxpayer money. As for the attacks on her, this has been predictible from the start, as she is not "politics as usual". I spent 30 years in the federal government, faced down serial killers and psychotics, but never had the nerve to face the nasty business of politics, as she has. She has more guts than most anyone the liberal media talks about. Hang in there , Sarah !

Sarah Palin is who she is. I turned away from McCain with seconds after her selection as his VP preference. Serious times requires serious and rational decision-making. After hearing her explain positions (and I do not refer to some of the nonsense she got caught in), I am convinced that she should remain in Alaska as long as they will have her. Most likely, she is a great person and a terrific mother, BUT she does not belong in national polictics. If she is in contention for a presidential bid in 2012, it will be a big disappointment to me. The Repuican Party has always been the most consistent preference to me. Now, it is the least plausible and rational approach to governing.

Palin is being used as a scapegoat. I voted for Obama, and I would have voted for Micky Mouse if he ran against McCain. I would have voted for Minnie before Palin. I think she was and still is woefully unprepared for the office of VP. Some punks in the Rep party are blaming her because of their stupidity. She is getting a raw deal, but that is the game she chose so deal with it. Selecting her just shows how corrupt the party is.

Every time McSame uttered those words, "Country first!" I wanted to either toss my cookies or throw a brick through the tv at him! He had the "audacity" to imply that Barack was more about winning the election than anything else, when he was the one who was guilty of that grievous attitude of complete selfishness. He gave not one thought to the country's welfare when he picked Sarah Palin, knowing that she was dangerously unprepared to assume the position of leadership in the event of his untimely demise! He just wanted to win at all cost! That was unconscionable, to say the least!.

McCain's team was criticized early for not properly vetting Palin. To the extent these anonymous cowards are right about Palin, they merely validate the critics who said they didn't exercise due diligence from the outset.
Reply
The reality is that Palin spared McCain a huge electoral landslide. She and she alone energized the GOP base to turn out for a contest that many, myself included, had planned to abstain from.
Republicans who continue to think our path to the White House is vis-a-vis imitating Democrats are simply not getting it. Aemricans respond positively to authentic conservative candidates. The problem is that the GOP refuses to provide them with one.
We need new blood, not beltway-sclerosis. We need to constructively engage liberals, not fight scorched earth. Conservative principles need to be upheld, clearly articulated, and effectively translated into legislative initiatives. The GOP establishment is its own impediment to progress.-

Think about if for just a minute or two regarding the anonymous cowards, etc. Those "aides" that were responsible for helping Palin prepare for interviews and speeches are now out of a job. They don't want to be associated with the campaign in any way now that they are job hunting and filling out resumes, etc. Some think that the best way to distance themselves from a failed campaign is to embark on a rumor-mill tactic trip, taking things out of context said by Palin in confidence and on the cuff so to speak and then anonymously "leak" this information. Doesn't really take rocket science to figure that out on one's own.
