Right-wing media feeds its post-election anger - Los Angeles Times »
Posted By bruhaha 1 year ago in Political NewsRush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity dive shamelessly in, talking about the 'Obama recession' and other partisan lines.
You have to give Rush Limbaugh a perverse kind of credit. At least when he is demonizing Barack Obama, fabricating Obama policies, blaming Obama for single-handedly causing the recession and the stock market crash, he doesn't pretend to be fair.
Opening his first post-election rant against the president-elect, Limbaugh launched in with a certain relish. "The game," he told his radio listeners, "has begun."

I have been listening to Rush for the last couple of weeks to get his take on the election and I thought it was funny how he has been blaming Obama every time the DOW has dropped but doesn't bother to mention the DOW when it goes up, like it did on Friday. Rush really counts on an audience with almost no memory to speak of. Last Monday before the election, he told a caller repeatedly to either not watch ANY election coverage or to at least ignore it, that call was followed by an ad with Rush telling his listeners to watch FOX for the best election coverage. Something similar happens when Rush goes off about the fraud global warming is and how it's idiots who purchase smaller less fuel consuming cars and then GM has an ad about it's new smaller, less fuel consuming cars.

I think as a society we should forgive Rush Limbaughs mother for dropping him repeatedly on his head as a child. This man is a methane filled windbag who enjoys only one thing in life and thats listening to, Ya You Guessed It, Rush Limbaugh. As for the 15-20 million listeners of his show, PLEASE quit before the brian damage becomes permanent.

You saw it on propeller here even before the election. All our favorite righties claiming that the drop in the stock market was because Obama might be elected....blah blah blah.

There is no help, other than maybe an intervention, for Limbaugh listeners. You can point out and show how wrong he has been, point out the hundreds, thousands of lies.....and they still will take anything he says as gospel. -

The only word for Rush is "disingenuous". He calls himself an "entertainer' but how many entertainers survive (and even thrive) on hatred of others? But how can he hate the likes of Clinton and now Obama? Because without them he would have no target for his anger. No Goldstein for his sheep to drown out with their bleating.

As I was raised by a psychologist I often attempt to evaluate people's intelligence when I first meet them. If I start at 150 and start subtracting from there the one factor that would cause an automatic -50 reduction would be for the evaluee to mention they are a Limbaugh listener. Because either they were once intelligent and Rush snuffed out much of their thought process or they started out at around 100 and Rush has inflicted further damage. Right-minded people do not listen to such mindless discussion. They just simply don't. You have to have a bit of Rush's paranoiac egomaniacal personality disorder to start with. The belief that somehow, "Of course I am better than you but my insecure paranoia requires that I view you as sinister and dangerous, because I may not be as smart as I think I am".
Rush has no answers, no solutions. Never has, never will.
All of these attributes also apply to Hannity, O'Reilly, Malkin, Coulter...etc. No solutions, just mindless seething hatred of the opposition. None of them have benefitted this country in any particular way. Yet their followers see them all as great "patriots". Whatever that word apparently means any more?-

there's a lot of entertainers that thrive on (fill in the blank). Howard Stern does it with body humor. Jerry Seinfeld does it with nothing. Bill Maher, well, does the same thing Limbaugh does (near as i can tell. i turn them both off. they offend my sensibilities when they are in full BS mode)

re read your post. then consider:
let's say i came up with an arbitrary ranking scale, too. when i hear or read dumba$& hate speech that person slides down my scale.
you've (and many other lefty az$hats here on propeller) slid way down that scale because of all you (the royal you) can do is beyotch and moan. when some of us rightards say that we hope Obama does well, we don't say it to appease your rinky dink sensibilities. its because we clearly wish him well, yet you (the royal you) happily spit in our faces.
and yet, you accuse us rightards, of seething hatred.
houston. we have a problem.

One of the biggest winners in this election were the Right-wing radio talk show hosts. They were running out of ways to blame the Clintons, Reid and Pelosi for every possible thing that had ever, was currently, or might someday possibly go wrong.

Now that President-elect Obama is in office they can go back to dividing the country along character and wedge issues rather than trying to use their "power" in a good way to help bring the country back together.
"With great power comes great responsibility" is the quote. But, I think Rush and Hannity heard it this way:
"With great power comes the opportunity into leveraging that into more money for me." -

meanwhile..just as they always do..none of these comments address the substance of the article which is the dem plan to socialize your 401k..but dont let the facts get in the way..they've been having hearings on this for over 2-3 weeks and the plan getting the most play is the one from teresa ghilarducci which she presented a while ago to a senate committee looking into just that ..CONFISCATING your 401 k...her words..not rushs..not mine..this new school professor has all over promoting this plan and getting a lot of attention for it..to say that the dems are not looking into this is just flat out false..the lib hero ron paul has been railing against this plan that doesnt exist--but its much easier to call me or rush names than actually respond to the facts...at the VERY least this congressional committee has recomended eliminating the tax breaks for all 401k's or similar accounts

I think you are badly mistaken. There has been a total of 1 (one) person espousing the government takeover of 401(k)'s. One.

There have been several Congressional committees looking into various ways to help people save for retirement while keeping their investments safe. There are a lot of retirees and soon to be retirees that are really hurting right now because of the way their 401(k)s are managed.
Just imagine if the Democrats had allowed President Bush and his Republican allies to privatize Social Security. -

Limbaugh is smiling BIG these days. He's at his best when his target is the White House (remember how he used Clinton as a cash cow). His ratings were flat for the last eight years compared to what they were the previous eight. He can hardly wait for January 21 to tell us how the enemy has taken over the White House but not to worry. He will be our faithful patriotic guardian and report every single "misdeed" committed by the demon occupying the White House. He will leave any so called good news coming out of the White House to the obviously lying elitist liberal press. As far as Rush is concerned it's time to light a big cigar and sing a chorus of... Happy Days Are Here Again!!!

I agree. Rush spent at least 1/2 an hour today talking about this article but I don't think he's all that angry. As you point out, the last Dem President is what put Rush on the map so he's got that to look forward to, not only that he has more money than Scrooge McDuck. Rush is more concerned about having to turn his lights off at his beach front property because of baby sea turtles than he is the common person so it was funny listening to him compare himself to 'Joe the Plumber'.

The one that's angry, almost borderline in need of some therapy angry, is Sean Hannity. Hannity's radio show is opening with 'special post-election coverage' into the song "Eye Of the Tiger" from Rocky. Then Big Voice Guy talks about the radical takeover of America followed by some choice quotes of Obama interspaced with plenty of Rev. Wright. I am surprised it doesn't feature either a countdown to the next election or even better a count of the number of days America has been under 'radical' control.
Anger aside, they are all talking about Obama non-stop and complaining about Obama isn't going to win anything for them in 2012. Instead of focusing on what's wrong with Obama, Republicans need to focus what's wrong with Republicans if their party is to have a future.

no-one is laying the lunacy in the markets at obama's feet..but what people at cnbc , bloomberg ,wins are is saying is that the hikes in capital gains taxes etc that he IS proposing are sure fire economy killers..his new cap gains rate would be 39.6 %..thats on his web site..as well as raising taxes on everyone by letting the bush cuts sunset..whether you agree with that is one thing..to say rush is making it all up is just plain not true..
