Swedish inflation rate for Oct. down to 4 percent
Posted By ap 1 year ago in Business & FinanceSTOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ Sweden's annual inflation rate fell back to 4.0 percent in October from 4.4 percent in September, mainly due to lower fuel prices, the national statistics agency said Thursday.
Statistics Sweden said consumer prices rose from September to October, but that the 0.2 percent rise was lower than it had been during the same period a year ago. The month was plagued by higher housing costs, especially increased mortgage interest costs, and bigger price tags on package holiday deals and tomatoes.
In a move to relieve the effects of the financial crisis on the Swedish economy, the country's central bank, the Riksbank, slashed its key interest rate by half a percentage point to 3.75 percent in late October.
