Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 1 month ago in NewsBelinda Davis just wanted to get something off her chest. So she called the Rush Limbaugh radio show to vent and, much to her surprise, ended up with a new Chevy Tahoe.
“I was frustrated about movie stars who helped with Barack Obama's campaign and the millions of dollars they gave to him,” she said.
Davis, a Kerrville resident, didn't like all the attention and praise celebrities got for supporting Obama, while working stiffs like her and her husband were ignored.
Limbaugh thought she sounded under the weather and suggested she try an over-the-counter cold product called Zicam, which advertises on his show. “I would go out and get some and swab your nose,” Limbaugh said. “I'll tell you what else I am going to do. I'm going to send you a copy of Vince Flynn's latest novel. In addition to Vince Flynn's latest novel, I'm going to buy you a car.”
Davis didn't know what to think. “I thought he was joking at first. I had no idea he was really serious about this,” she said. But two days later, she was at a local GM dealer, where she picked out a $58,000 fully-loaded Tahoe. “I'm just so thankful to Rush,” she said.
Limbaugh told CNSNews.com that he made the offer on a whim because “she sounded so tired, distraught and frightened about her and her husband's business future with an Obama victory.”

How very right you are! Starting about four years ago, and often since then, conservatives and the Republican side of the aisle, including President Bush, have tried to convince Democrats, like ole Barney, that allowing the big investment banks to purchase and rebundle suspect subprime loan instruments was financial suicide. You shouldn't loan that kind of money to people who you KNOW can't pay it back and you shouldn't allow banks to float the debt they said. Barney Frank and scores of free spending "everyone deserves to own a home" Democrats shouted from the rafters that Republicans hated poor people and minorities and were MEAN because they didn't want banks to carry these dangerous, bundled, suspect loans. Well, the Democrats were wrong then and they're wropng NOW. Some people DON'T DESERVE TO OWN A HOME, especially one they clearly can't afford. Of course, Democrats hate any suggestion that we all aren't exactly alike and should be treeated exactly the same and therefore shoved the banking law changes through anyway, with predictably disasterous results. If you want to REALLY place the blame where it belongs, look up Bill Clinton's changes to the banking laws through 1996. He and his administration so relaxed financial regulations regarding "newly created" financial instruments, such as bundling and subprime mortgages, that the eventual failure of the whole mortgage industry was virtually a certainty. Remember, the ENTIRE Congress has been under solid Democrat control for the last two years and since then we have seen $4.00 a gallon gas, the virtual collapse of the mortgage industry, the collapse of the housing market and, very nearly, the failure of the American economy. Now, tell me that's just a coincidence...

It was the conservatives that deregulated the industry to begin with. Phil Graham and his buddies started this. You stupid Republicans had total control for the first 6 years of Bush's presidency, you could have done anything you wanted and this is what you gave us. Stop whining and take credit for what you caused. Rush should have given her an economy car so when the gas prices go back up (and they will) she could afford to drive it.

Some time ago, I was among those who did not like Rush. Until someone asked if I had ever listened to him. I had to admit I hadn't but "everyone knows what type of person he is". For someone so frustrated with other people spending their money while a "working stiff" like her got ignored, she sure doesn't seem to have a problem spending close to $60K on a car with other people's money. Did she NEED the fully loaded SUV? NO, I'm betting she got it as a status symbol. She's being hypocritical.
If Rush doesn't try to use it to his advantage in some way, then I will believe it was done with genuine selflessness. However, if he tries to use it as a talking point ala "she sounded so tired, distraught and frightened about her and her husband's business future with an Obama victory", then I will have no doubt he did it to score some points somewhere with some target group. -

A 46 year old music store owner from the St. Louis area, Elliot Sanders, is claiming that while a college student at Southeast Missouri University in 1971, he had an affair with Rush Limbaugh. Sanders claims that he and Limbaugh, the well known talk radio star, had an affair that went on for about 3 months in the fall of 1971...

Sanders stated that he met Limbaugh in a class he was taking, but it was only after meeting his sister, who was openly gay at that time, that he found out Rush himself was gay. "Rush was a charming man privately," says Sanders, "I met him in a class I was taking, and got on a first name basis with him. I didn't realize he was gay until his sister came to visit him. She was gay, and like, we hit it off, and she seemed shocked that I didn't know Rush was gay as well. When I found out I was like ... wow!"
Sanders says that privately, Limbaugh was very sensitive and caring man, but that he was furiously angry that KFBK, the top 40 radio station he worked while still in high school would not offer him a full time job.
"He was furious about that," said Sanders, "And he often told me that he was really going to show them." According to Sanders, Rush's politics at the time were somewhat middle of the road. "Rush said that he though most people are incredibly gullible, and he felt that the key to radio programming was to reach that crowd, and that it would be really, really easy. He thought he thought he could get anyone to believe anything he said, and the more outrageous is was, the more they would believe it."
When asked when he thought Limbaugh "went straight," Sanders replied, "What are you talking about? I mean, he's been married four times now, do people really not get why he doesn't stay married? I guarantee none of those marriages was ever consummated."
Sanders would not divulge any further details, but when asked if he feared retaliation from Limbaugh for his revelations, he stated, "No, Rush wouldn't do that, he's really a sweetie at heart, but some of the people who listen to him might. I think most of them are psychotic. I don't think these people realize he's just pandering to them for ratings, but if they find out, I wouldn't want to be there

I was definitely torn between the two candidates this election and figured I'd be disappointed either way. The thing that definitely ****** me off is the "does race have anything to do with it" aspect of it. I think everyone made it about race. Every time there was a photo of Obama supporters it just so happened they were African American (or in the case of his Kenyan family straight up African), and they would show McCain supporters as rednecks. I'm tired of the ******* race card and I'm a minority but I worked for where I am today and where I'll be going for my tomorrows without the use of the ******* race card. For everyone out there, quit expecting somethings out of nothings and learn to have some pride by working for it. So as for this lady maybe she was well deserving of a new car but maybe not. Its amazing, that folks who are SO clueless, can have an impact on something as important as a President.
Most folks would fail a general knowledge test, on our own government, or a simple geography test.
We are in for a real awakening, on the new world Socialism, as we have never seen before. Big Brother will control almost everything. We never hear a word about the millions Rush donates to our military each year, as well as many other charities. Rush doesn't have to flaunt his wealth and he doesn't. Why would he? How's she going to pay the taxes on it? If he pays the state sales and license tax, she is still gonna owe the feds for the whole enchilada as income. Probably bumped her into a higher bracket than she was in, so she'll have to pay even more tax on whatever earnings she and her 'workikng class' husband made before their gross income went up by 60K. And, don't tell me Rushbaugh paid her federal tax, too. He could, of course, but then she would just owe tax on not only the 60K but also the tax he paid on her behalf. No free lunches, folks. She will likely have to borrow money (which she can't do because of the failed R "leadership" of the last 8) or sell the SUV (which nobody wants or can afford to put gas in) to pay said taxes. Or, she could take bankruptcy and keep the car and her house (you can do that in Texas) Good job, Rushbaugh. Made some tax lawyers and bankruptcy lawyers some money today!!

i was listening to Rush's show the day he made the announcement that he was going to give her a car. While he sounded surprised that he offered the car, he showed a great compassion for a fellow human being (american) and is in my book an honorable man. There were no strings attached and he gave her a wide open choice of the vehicle she and her husband wanted. He did not limit a dollar amount and even suggested that she go for an SUV. Regarding the taxes on the car, there are none as Rush paid for it in full including the taxes.

The peculiar thing is that Limbaugh denies he ever had a pilonidal cyst, dismissing it as "internet bull", though the record is plain.

ACtually, I feel badly for those who will be out of work with the tax changes that Obama might bring about. If I am taxed and can't make my house payment, I plan on laying off employees. I've taken note of which ones campaigned for Obama. Since they beleive in his social programs, they can be the first to benefit from them as they lose their jobs. I hope every small business owner does the same. There is a movement around the country now. 70% of Americans work for small businesses. The bigger, international businesses will merely send labor over seas. NAFTA has given them that right. Ask anyone who is out of work in the textile industries of the Carolinas... which "used" to be the center. If you go into a major departments store and look at their big ticket clothes, they are usually from Indonesia or the like. More jobs will be farmed out to those nations. Hopefully, those who voted for Obama will be able to find their welfare.

In fact, people were begging for larger loans in order to get into houses they couldn't afford. Now those that won't be responsible for themselves are creating havoc for the rest of us and whining as if someone owes them a way out of their payments and of course they think they are entitled to keep the house.
I have sympathy for those that met up with hardships, but not those who jumped into adjustable rate loans without considering the future. I think they are impatient spoiled brats who are fully responsible for the mortgage crisis. -

Oprah fooled people into believing she gave cars away, when in fact, it was a GM promotion for a new Pontiac model. She paid for nothing. She got the "corrupt" media glory but spent not one cent. Ted Kenedy never had a day when his trust fund went below the "poverty line" Unless you define the poverty line in the low millions.
Besides, The honorable mr.Kennedy has people who are more than willing to give him money in effort to gain his favor in legislation.
I challenge that Mr. limbaugh knows what it means to be broke, As does Glenn Beck, And many other famous people who worked in their respective feilds of prominence and gained the respect and prominence as they learned and took advantage of opportunities that they recognized and utilized to benefit themselves and those they work with.
Mr. Limbaugh CHOSE to offer this gift to this particular caller, and cuold have let the comment pass with the wind, but he insists that he honors his word and reputation.
You people who complain that the "rich" are disconnected and don't understand are too damn lazy to find out just how well people like Limbaugh understand and remember what it is like to be poor.
Limbaugh worked hard to gain his wealth, and his riches have not negated his memory of his earlier plight.
Just because there are people who have more money than you does not mean that you are somehow prevented from gaining your own wealth.
Face it. The government is not going to make you wealthy. If it did, you are so greedy that you would try the same tactics you do now to hide it from those who cry with envy against those who are generous with their resources. -

Did you know that over 4000 soldier have died for the eight years Bush has been in office.....AND, GET THIS.....did you know that over 8000 soldiers died during the eight years while Clinton was in office? Isn't it strange that while we are actually fighting a war that only half as many soldiers have died? What the heck was Clinton doing? Great job, Bill! Close half of our military bases, and set us up for the 9/11 catastrophe. And why didn't he kill Bin Laden when he had the chance? What has happened to the American Citizens. Never a kind word or a compliment for anyone. I work at a Christian school with young children and we emphasize to be kind and never say an unkind word to one another. To help and say kind words to each other. Maybe some of the adults and news media should go back to school and learn the basics all over again. I think it is great Rush helped that lady. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN????? I wonder what God thinks of the way we are today. We Built the USA let's don't DESTROY it!!! Actually there is a story of President elect Obama giving a lady who did not have enough money to get all of her luggage on a plane when she was trying to join her husband. Obama overheard the lady telling the ticket agent she didn't have enough money and gave her the over $100 to make up the difference. This happened when he was not making a lot of money himself. The lady posted this story a few weeks ago, this goes to show that you only listen to Rush, because I am sure he would never report such a story about President elect Obama.

Rush does things like this all the time. A few years ago I was listening to a single mom struggling to take care of her child, work, and go to school. Well Rush knew the tremendous stress she was feeling, and told her to pick out a Sleep Number Bed so she could get enough rest to take care of her obligations. Rush is a nice man that does good things with his wealth. He may not announce these things to the public to hear, but he does not have to boast about what he does to help others.

If you hated Saudi profits you would attempt to open up domestic oil production. This would allow local producers to offer cheaper fuel and undercut foreign oil prices. Our recent $1.30 a gallon drop in price is in part because of the mere suggestion that the US would open up domestic oil production. This was part of the Republican platform and has been supported by George Bush and republicans in both houses. If you loved Saudi profits, you'd block US production. Funny I was reviewing the tax records that were released by the candidates. Palin and McCain individually gave far more than the Obama's and Bidens combined in charitable gifts

Sorry, but she didn't say that. That assertion came from an unnamed, unconfirmed source and did not specify a time or place. i.e. It was a nasty lie, said to discredit her. How do I know? The interview never surfaced. How does that happen, exactly? Obama's "I've been to all 57 states" made it to You-Tube. He also said, regarding the middle east, "We have a lot of work to do. It’s a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border." It was televised. So, if you are correct, I'm impressed with Palin's ability to say things that apparently aren't caught on tape. Like her belief that dinosaurs roamed the Earth 10,000 years ago. I am a 30 year old white female who is going on her fourth year of being legally Disabled. I lost my job, I lost my car, after I became disabled my husband began drinking and became violent, and I am now living in my parents basement because they don't have a real bedroom for me to sleep in. Liberal, conservative, whatever, I don't see anybody handing ME a darn car, paying my medical bills, or giving me a home of my own. And you know what? Nobody will. The only reason my family even HAS the internet is because my two 18 year old sisters are still in school. No, there is no bus line through my town, either. I am NOT on welfare, I don't get foodstamps, the state does not pay for my healthcare, nor provide housing or transportation for me. So all of you can sit here and whine and name call all you want, I've never listend to Rush Limbaugh in my life, but if he gave me a car, whether I agreed with his views or not, I'd cry for joy and thank God. If ANYBODY did anything nice for me, no matter WHO they are, I'd do the same. I'd be grateful for something with four wheels and a solid engine and a one room apartment that isn't in a crack house! So while you all sit here and sling mud at each other (with exception to the few), about race and politics, while I'm freezing my butt off in this basement, in too much pain to sleep, you can all think about THAT! If you can take 5 minutes to post something on here, you can take 5 minutes to put yourself in MY shoes,and the hundreds of thousands of Americans just like me, or who are worse off, before you head off to your warm beds or get in your cars and go off to work, and be grateful you AREN'T me.

You know what would be nice? If you all would think about this.I'm coming up on my 4th year anniversary of being legally Disabled. I lost my job, my car, my home, and my husband to it, just for starters. I am 30 years old, white, if that matters, which it shouldn't, not on welfare, don't get foodstamps or state paid health insurance. I live in my parents BASEMENT, because they don't have a real bedroom for me to stay in. They both put in over 40 hours a week, and try their best to keep food on the table for me and my two 18 year old sisters, while the roof leaks and they drive old cars. I've never listened to Rush Limbaugh a day in my life, but if he did something like that for me, for whatever reason, I'd cry for joy and be forever grateful. And then probably have to sell it to pay off my medical bills and school loans, and use whatever was left to buy myself something with four wheels and a solid engine. I'm not a begger, I'm not a whiner, life handed me a crappy deal, I got sick, and nobody is going to bail my butt out of it, even if I got on my hands and knees and begged and pleaded for a beat up junker and the money to see the doctors and get the treatments for my disease I can't afford. But I'll tell you this. If I had money, and I'm not talking millions here, but enough that I could have a decent standard of living, I'd GLADLY, GRATEFULLY help out people like myself. And thank God every day I that I'm able to do so. Because starting at the age of 12, I worked. My tax money went to help people, and I don't begrudge a single cent of it. So while most of you sit here and sling mud and call each other names and complain about racism and politics, remember something. We are AMERICANS. We should be helping each other instead of being cruel to each other, judging each other, turning our backs on each other. Is THIS who we are? I hope not. I hope we can do better than this. So before you climb into your warm beds, or go off to your jobs in your cars, take five minutes and think about what it would be like to be ME. The woman who worked her butt off until one day she woke up and wasn't able t anymore, and lost everything she ever worked for. And I'm grateful that it happened. Because if I didn't suffer like this, I wouldn't care about others. I wouldn't be grateful for what I DO have, which is hope and courage. So before you post your next comment, imagine being me for a minute. Me who worked for everything she ever had, never asked for anything, and lost it all, not because I'm lazy, or stupid, or ignorant. Because it just happened. And I have to live the rest of my life with it. Because nobody is going to hand me anything. Before you say something hateful, stop, think, and FEEL how it's going to affect someone else. Because someday, that someone else might be you.

Yes, opra gives away cars and not a penny from her own pocket and all the lib's cream in their pants just crying and cooing. rush give a lady something from his pocket and everyone is attacking him, I guess he gave one more car then all the demorats gave of their own money. But give Biden/Obammmmmmaaa time and they will give all the idiots who voted for them something for nothing (oh I forgot I pay for that) but that dosn't mean anything.

You know I read these comments and some are blaming the donkeys and some are laying it on the elephants, but it in actuality we are all in this together. Hey those with big bucks, they did what they had to do to get them and they are spending it the way they choose. We can voice our selves on what we think they should be doing and how they should spend their own earnings, but how would it be if it were "YOU". Yes, I consider myself a Democrat and I've been let down by them just as the same with Republicans. Rush did a charitable thing and it will be claimed on his taxes for a return you can best believe. So what is going on here is we all complain, we all are heard, we all stomp on each other's comments, but who really gives a flying fart? Hah hah hah. Y'all have a good one, ya hear.

A $58,000 gas guzzling Tahoe which gets 15 mpg? I have friends who own Tahoes. One of the friends owes $20,000 on the vehicle and attempted to trade it in but was offered only $8,000 because the Dealer said they aren't worth much these days. Another friend rarely drives his Tahoe because it sucks the gas like no tomorrow. Quite frankly, nobody could give me a gas guzzling Tahoe.

Its too bad that Limbaugh didn't do the poor woman a favor by giving her a fuel efficient car which gets 35 mpg. If she drives the Tahoe 20,000 miles per year, and depending upon where she lives, the total amount of gas she will use is approximately $3,338 for one year; whereas, if she was given a fuel efficient vehicle, the total amount of gas would be approximately $1,428 which is approximately $2,000 less than the Tahoe.

It would be a hoot if Limbaugh decides that this vehicle is given as a prize, because the woman would have to pay income tax on any prizes for the fair market value of the vehicle which is $58,000. If he so chooses, he would get to deduct that from his income tax and she would be taxed at a rate of approximately 25%. ROFLMAO!

blkbryent:Surely you are not serious,I've seen a photo-copy of Obams's birth certificate that says the father is,or was a caucasian.Now just about everything on the document had been redacted.In the America I grew up in this piece of crap would be worthless as a source of identification.Thats what were stuck with.It seems to me that no one wants really wants any real answers.Someday we will wake up,and realize our mistake,I also believe we will have to fight once again to save America from its self.
