The people of Alaska remind me of a situation in Arkansas several years ago. The elder Senator Pryor was running for Governor and accepted bribes associated with the AMPI Milk Scandal.

The two Bribers were convicted of bribing a public official (Pryor) and were sent to the Iron Bar hotel. Pryor claimed he didn't realize he was being bribed and was elected by the good old Arkansas electorate with over 70% of the vote.
It is impossible to underestimate the intelligence of the people when they don't want to believe something. -
