the senate dems, as a group, and reid in particular, deserve a different name. low-life hypocrites is one, but our language is lacking in some ways. most common terms that would fit are unfair to the group described. scum, for instance, is a valuable part of the ecosystem. pigs are just mammals. and so on.

Yeah, I know what you are going through. Trent Lott and Newt Gingrich use to do the same to me but at the moment it's Lindsey Graham that makes me want to barf.
It's funny how other peoples representatives in congress are the ones at fault and the ones you voted for are doing the right thing.-

John Boehner, Rep House minority leader looks like he's just 'itchin' to sell me a used car! God knows the republicans have sold us a load of crap for 8 years. Now that the Repubs have a chance to redeem themselves and start repairing their image by actually working with the new administration, but all they can do is continue to harp and bash, lie and smear.

I understand Obama wanting to go on record as not holding a grudge about Lieberman campaigning for McCain. I don't believe he should keep his chair. I suspect they simply want him to continue to caucus with democrats so he doesn't go over to the other side. But my thoughts are that Lieberman put the lobbyists for weapons industries and defense contracts ahead of the interests of the people. He did MORE than just campaign for McCain, he contributed to the outrageous lies about Barack and Democrats in general stating he "feared for the country if democrats got a filibuster proof majority..

What good is he?
No good.
Give him the boot Democrats, on principle he is no ally.
He chairs the dept. responsible for oversight among other things and never once lifted a finger to question the Bush adm.
(In contrast his counterpart in the house, Henry Waxman initiated many investigations).
Let Lieberman run in New England as a republican, it will end his stain on politics once and for all.-

He was defeated 2 years ago in his primary as a Democrat so he switched to independent and regained his seat. I do believe he's cooked his own goose with his constituents this time though. I don't believe he could get elected on ANY ticket next time.

If Saxby wins in Georgia I think Lieberman will be history. At the moment the Democrats don't want to rock the boat with a 60 seat majority a possibility but if they fall short, I look for the Democrats to use the ax and chop him from the committee. The committee chair would hold Lieberman in line but removing him would push him over to the Republicans which really wouldn't matter if the Democrats ended up with a 57 to 59 seat majority.

I've always admired Joe for putting his country before his 'party'. You know, the same reason the Democrats used to admire McCain, when he used to do the same thing and side with the Democrats on some issues.
Why are those that are Democrats so willing to go down the vengeance road when someone doesn't toe their line? Will this administration be the uniting administration of hope and change or will they simply use their newly won power as vigilantes? -

One might conclude that you believe Joe Lieberman has more 'patriotism' than Democrats who opposed the Iraq war.
It's hardly patriotism to be 'PRO-WAR'. It just means you have aligned yourself with those who believe we should have the right to invade any nation ... any time we want.
Of course ... this was the philosophy of the old Soviet Union under Communism ... and we HATED the commies for that. (All except icono ... icono is a Propeller member who is a former Communist Party Member ... but who now is wandering on Propeller ... countryless.)
For the record ... I DON'T believe Joe Lieberman should be kicked out of the Democratic Party. He still supports Social Justice ... something that is anathema to the Modern Republican party.
He's simply acquired a taste for the Neo-Conservative Ideology ... even as it's been proven to be Morally Vacant and as unsupportable as Communism.

Afterall, one could argue that Lieberman was simply being bipartisan in his thinking. That he was putting the problems of the country ahead of his party loyalty.
Politicians say things in the heat of a race that they don't really mean.
Obama has already stated that he wants to keep Joe in the Dem caucus.
He should let someone else do the dirty work. -

First off, Lieberman is an Independent and not a Democrat or Republican (his claim). By his actions shall he be known and stumping for McCain speaks volumes. Therefore, either Party can lay claim to him according to the way he "leans." However, I don't see where he can lay claim to either Party and expect anything...period.

Secondly, there are obviously some other deep-seeded issues going on for Lieberman to speak out against Obama during this campaign. Personally, I believe that Lieberman was scared of loosing his position and power within the Senate if Obama became President.
Thirdly, I believe Lieberman has allegiances to Israel and felt that those interests would be better served under McCain than Obama.
The reason Reid is trying to protect Lieberman’s position is that Lieberman is like a lightning rod right now and is keeping attention off of the senior Democratic leadership that has been so inept to this point and complicit in many of the Bush policies Obama is looking to overturn. In other words, they’re scared that their heads will be on the chopping block sooner than later.
I know some of you think that Pelosi and Reid will be secure now that Obama is President and that they will be essential to getting laws passed through, but Obama has talked about real changes and some of the Democrats in charge have not shown they have the balls to implement such plans.
As I’ve stated before, there will be a power struggle in both Parties as the new guard and old guard jockey for position, and favor, with the new administration. Yes, there is seniority, but with the popularity of Obama’s election, many in the House and Senate will want to show that they are part of the change and not part of the hindrance toward progress. -
