Gay leaders nationwide should have had this level of outpouring prior to the election to assist our California friends and relatives who needed the anti-Prop 8 vote in full force. It is miserable being on the defensive regarding what should be a civil right. For those who disagree with me, read the majority opinion of the California Supreme Court which issued its opinion back in June, 2008.

I think people are shocked that such an obvious right was taken away. I did not think Prop.8 would pass because I had faith that people would make the right decision and say no to discrimination. I was wrong. This is a setback but I think the ground that was lost can be regained.
