Gay people matter. They are doctors, educators, lawyers, child-care workers, florists, journalists, artists, and mechanics. They are woven into the fabric of everyday life in ways most of us do not even realize. The families we create and raise are important to us and should not be taken away just because some organization or group claims we are not worthy. Much more can be said of the gay rights movement than just marriage. More than wanting recognition for our marriages, we want recognition of our lives and our families. We exist and will not go back into the closet. We will not be subjugated any longer. The fight continues.

Is this not true of everyone?

The bankrupt, they lazy, the straight, the gay, the hard worker, the Indian, the child molester, the killer and the victim?
All are people, all are woven into the fabric of everyday life.
I'm not asking you to go into the closet, I'm not asking you not to exist.
I am saying that I do not believe it is the same a marriage between a man and a woman.
If you want to come up with your own thing, don't take my work and change it, come up with your own word.

The ONLY strategy I can see for winning gay marriage in a possible land-slide, is to invite down space aliens with a 20 million year old civilization. These aliens would have to have no concept of a personal, MORAL, God, and, that the ONLY word in their vocabulary resembling anything LIKE the word "god", would be "gawb", a word they'd use for their fecal matter. BUT, can gays FIND these aliens? THAT's the question.

We won our rights fairly in Massachusetts and Connecticut in the courts. African-Americans won the right to marry whites if they so chose in the US Supreme Court Case Loving v. Virginia. How swiftly all of us forget that the definition of what is traditional is always in flux. Some day we will not need to fight for our civil rights because we will realize that they should not be the fodder for elections.

How about realizing that small government Republicans are mostly your allies on this? Do you realize that over 95% of blacks voted for Obama and over 70% of blacks voted for Prop 8? Over 70% of Latinos voted for Obama and over 60% of them voted for Prop 8? Who said to vote "No" on Prop 8? How about California REPUBLICAN radio personalities like Larry Elder, Doug McIntyre, Al Rantel, and even firebrand Tammy Bruce.

You are confusing religious beliefs with political beliefs. People voted for Obama as a result of his stand on a variety of issues including his position on gay marriage. His position happens to run contrary to inclusion. The blacks and Latinos whom you cite often voted for Prop 8 as a result of their religious bias and fear. They happen to vote for Obama because they did not want John McCain. Hence, your explanation for how that works.

John McCain and the Republicans are not the friends of gays and lesbians you purport them to be. After all, it was the Republicans in Florida who pushed for the gay marriage ban there. Come to think of it, they have been responsible for gay marriage amendments in most states.

Radical militant christians are more dangerous to America than radical militant muslims simply because there are more of them. Both want to take away our freedoms. Both have no tolerance for other religions. Both will resort to violence and intimidation to achieve their goals. Radical militant christians, however, have been empowered by years of neo-con rule and have political power within the US. This makes them more dangerous to the freedom of Americans.
