I just don't understand why Obama isn't making this point himself. Wouldn't it make people happy for him to say that he would take down these Wall street thugs in an investigation of sorts? Obviously Bush isn't going to do anything. So where does that leave us? This would be an easy victory for Obama and he would be praised by every American if he took these guys down. We know they are screwing us so why aren't they in jail?

Yet Nothing. Obama signed onto the bailout package and same old politics as usual. Could it be his Fannie Mae connection that no one is talking about?
Something fishy going on with our politicians. Business as Usual.

Some of the Bush admn. strongest supporters are skeptical of Paulson...did he just give money to his friends?...there is a conflict of interestfactor since he is from Goldman Sachs and they are assumed to be the primary recipients of our tax dollars.

Something these days just isn't adding up. The entire country seems to be getting ENRONED.

Seems no one is being held accountable for this wide spread corruption and theft by people at the very top. We give them BILLIONS of $s in bail out money and they seem to just squander it away, not needing to answer to anyone. Something is really wrong here. I don't understand it?
One would think the world is about to end, it's EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES!!!
Perhaps this is what's going on. I have no better explanation to the insanity we are currently seeing all around us. Do the big wigs at the top know facts that we are left out of the loop on?
Learn what Marshall Masters, a CNN science feature field producer has to say about PLANET X....many cultures say, the year 2012 marks the end as we know it...who knows for sure, but I will say, this story is really scary! This Planet X thing seems to be much more then just some whack jobs spewing their own brand of BS. You read about it, or better yet, watch the videos, they are very convincing, then you decide...

Even worse than the gutting of this nation is the spread of fear that a Planet X will come back to enslave us. We are already enslaved by our fears. What we need is a worldwide positive focus on what could be and not what has been. The combined energies of our thoughts will bring about our very salvation.

2012 is really about a galactic alignment, kind of like when the second, minute and hour hands all align for a split second in time on your analog clock. It may not really happen in that year, but it will happen. I welcome it. -

I'm very skeptical about this whole bailout. I didn't like the way it was pushed on us and I don't like the way it is changing. It was supposed to be used to buy up the bad debt, but now all it seems to be getting used for is to help a few banks swallow up many smaller banks and leave us with a near banking monopoly.

Black Projects. Only this time they were caught.

I read recently where a bill was sent to Congress asking for money for stealth spy projects. The word "Aurora" appeared in a bill in the 80's by accident, and was removed almost immediately before it became public record.
Quoting the article: "The first suggestion that these studies might be translated into operational hardware appeared in the Fiscal Year 1986 procurement program document, colloquially known as the P-1, dated 4 February 1985. A line item in this document, labeled "Aurora," was slated to receive $80 million in 1986, and over $2.2 billion in 1987.<73> Since this line item appeared next to the line funding the TR-1 reconnaissance aircraft, it stirred up a hornet's nest of conjecture that a secret aircraft was being developed to replace the aging SR-71.
The Air Force quickly denied the existence of a secret program, and said the "Aurora" budget line was simply one site for B-2 bomber funds when that program was highly classified.<74> One Air Force official commented, "I wish I could say it is (an SR-71 follow-on), because we'd love to have it. But it's just accounting, I'm afraid."<75>"
Now I am wondering why all the moon missions. -

The Treasury Department agreed to post every transaction on the Internet, but all it shows is the list of banks and how many billions they got.
The brand new Financial Stability Oversight Board has met four times already but they don't know how the banks are using the money.
There's no hint in the first official Treasury report to submitted to Congress last week.
And Congress promised to create its own special oversight board, but more than five weeks later not one person has been named to the panel.
So, CBS News decided to ask the banks what they're doing with the money. We talked to the nine biggest recipients, who pointed out there's nothing in the bailout law that requires them to disclose specifics.
CBS News does know from public information that at least four of the banks are using bailout funds to merge with or take over other banks.
Bank officials told Attkisson that taxpayers will have to trust that the money will be used wisely.
Congress does have the power to hold back the second half of the $700 billion if it thinks the first half isn't working out.
But as one bank official put it: If anyone thought for a minute that every penny was somehow going to be tracked, they're going to be sorely disappointed.-

Congress can block release of the second $350 billion. It can also rewrite the law to put new conditions on its use.

One of the congressmen from Oklahoma sent out a letter today that he is calling for congress to cancel dispersing the remainder of the bailout money, approximately $350 billion until there is more oversight of the money.....something that should have been done at the very first.

if the banks aren't willing to give us itemized reports, then we shouldn't give them any more.
Reply
and before any more is paid out to anyone there shoud be requirements enacted for weekly itemized expenditure reports. That shouldn't be too much to ask, I know my company tracks daily income and expenditures as a matter of course.
I also want a contract, a signed contract. There's only one other organization that allows for loans without contracts.. "not for nothin',eh.. ya don't pay up, my uncle sammie is gonna send a couple treasury agents over to have a little convo. ya know what I'm sayin? bata bing!"-

Every dollar not spent in the way it was supposed to have been spent should be taxed as 100% unearned income/profit, along with 100% of the salaries of all the execs. No bank should be allowed to get a bailout and claim lobbying, exec salaries, or misuse of bailout funds as anything but pure profit.

Congress got punked. Instead of listening to and following the wishes of their constituents, they allowed the corporate/banker mafia to strong-arm them into signing the government to them. There's always a price to pay for not standing up to bully's - they keep taking until there's no more to take. Once you grow a spine and break the damn bully's nose, they'll back off every time.

How does it feel getting ripped off again from the same people who brought us Iraq and failed the victims of Katrina?
Reply
Cheney, Bush, and the gang should be brought up on charges so that it becomes clear that this will never again be tolerated by our country. I only wish... but the spineless supporters of Bush who are still beholden to the same profiteers and lobbyists care more about their lousy careers than they do their country.
Don't be surprised if the Bush administration gives our nation one last screwing before leaving office... Maybe they can pretend how they are going to bail out the car industry too and then pocket that as well. -

I feel a lot of this is do to the fact of the housing going out of control, President Carter wanted everyone to be able to have a house then President Clinton made it happen. They had the criteria that worked for years changed, to make it easier for everyone to be able to have a chance to qualify. When I bought my 1st home you needed really good payment history, good credit and enough income to pay the house payment in one weeks salary. After Clinton was done all that was gone and the price of the houses was able to go up since people could qualify for higher prices.

When the republicans seen what was happening they tried to get a bill together and the democrats voted no on it, why do you think that is because they were getting kick backs from it and the #2 guy that received a huge amount of money out of it was non other than our President elect Obama.
By the way if you haven't figured it out when people max up their cards to try and pay for a house they couldn't afford to begin with and they lose it all they tend not to spend money on other things and that is why a lot of businesses are going under.
Bush is responsible for the gas prices he could've done more to keep it from going out of control, I will not put all the blame on him as it seems so many of you want to do.
Start listening and learning from different sources instead of the main stream left wing news media, while you still can before President elect Obama changes that, by the time he is done you wont hear anything bad about him, because he wont allow it.-

Way to look at the subprime scandal honestly. NOT.
Reply
There were several participants in every single foreclosure that was due to owners buying mortgages they could not afford.
homeowner
loan broker
loan underwriter
bankers
etc
To put the blame solely on the homeowner is to pretend gravity does not exist. It`s illogical, irresponsible, and basically out to lunch.
Who in the above list are the professionals who have the tools to design, calculate, and formulate what the owner can or cannot afford? For every owner who lied to get a loan he/she cannot afford, there were several brokers, underwriters and banks who lied to the customer and/or each other to get the homeowner a loan he/she could not afford.
So please, could you start taking a sincere, honest look at the problem so we can all work together to sincerely and honestly go about creating a solution to get through this and prevent it from happening again in the future?
As if the Republicans did not see this coming from several years ago...why do you think the banks bought the Republicans in Congress and WH to get them to pass new bankruptcies laws in 2003 that make it harder for people to start over?
