JERUSALEM The enactment of a "single payer" socialist health care system; passing laws to make joining a labor union easier; raising the minimum wage and increasing labor union support all these are just some of the policies the Community Party USA has mapped out as crucial for Obama to push through during his term of office.

FTA Norman Markowitz says "A stronger left that follows the tradition of the Communist Party,"

That's our direction far left toward a tradition of the Communist Party. Change we can believe in!

    YES WE CAN!!!!!!!

Be careful what you wish for because you've got it!

      Editorial: Eye on the Prize
Barack Obama is not a left candidate. This fact has seemingly surprised a number of progressive people who are bemoaning Obama’s “shift to the center.” (Right-wingers are happy to join them, suggesting Obama is a “flip-flopper.”) It’s sad that some who seek progressive change are missing the forest for the trees. But they will not dampen the wide and deep enthusiasm for blocking a third Bush term represented by John McCain, or for bringing Obama by a landslide into the White House with a large Democratic congressional majority.

A broad multiclass, multiracial movement is converging around Obama’s “Hope, change and unity” campaign because they see in it the thrilling opportunity to end 30 years of ultra-right rule and move our nation forward with a broadly progressive agenda.

This diverse movement combines a variety of political currents and aims in a working coalition that is crucial to social progress at this point. At the core are America’s working families, of all hues and ethnicities, whose determination to move forward does not depend on, and will not be diverted by, the daily twists and turns of this watershed presidential campaign. They are taking the long view.

Notably, the labor movement has stepped up its independent mobilization for this election. It is leading an unprecedented campaign to educate and unify its ranks to elect the nation’s first African American president. Last week, AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka told the Steelworkers convention that there is “no evil that’s inflicted more pain and more suffering than racism — and it’s something we in the labor movement have a special responsibility to challenge.”

If Obama’s candidacy represented nothing more than the spark for this profound initiative to unite the working class and defeat the pernicious influence of racism, it would be a transformative candidacy that would advance progressive politics for the long term.

The struggle to defeat the ultra-right and turn our country on a positive path will not end with Obama’s election. But that step will shift the ground for successful struggles going forward.

One thing is clear. None of the people’s struggles — from peace to universal health care to an economy that puts Main Street before Wall Street — will advance if McCain wins in November.

Let’s keep our eyes on the prize.

Well, RedRiverJ, this is another story to which all I can say is: So what? It outlines what Communists wish, want, hope, look forward to, pray for, long for, yearn for, and desire from the Obama presidency. It doesn't present one shred of evidence that these groups influence Obama at all, or even have any contact with him.

"Communist Party strategist maps out Obama's agenda"? You or I can outline his agenda just as easily, but the question is whether he would listen to either one of us.

guess the fact that the Obama's being voted the MOST far left senator in the senate and the fact that the communist party's agenda is kinda like that of the far left Obama seems a little interesting.
It will be interesting to see how long many of you say SO WHAT as your country, freedoms and culture is gradually chipped away........say so what then.

Well, now, according to the criteria included in this study, I am a liberal. I am surprised by this, since I feel certain I am much closer to the middle than I am to the left. I disagreed with only one vote, the death tax vote.

I guess this makes it official. I'm a liberal.

LOL, I don't think I'm a 'liberal', I disagreed on a few more points than you, (immigration) but I would have preferred to see fewer 'did not vote'. Those were some of the more important issues to me.

Klarissa, I don't know if this denial of Obamas actual voting record, and his actual words, is a creation of Obamas design, or if he is simply the man with the intelligence to take advantage of it. Blackwater, wiretapping, pro-war, the bailout, it's all in the public records.
I know I'll get hammered for the pro war comment, but he did support a white pro war democrat, Barrows, over an antiwar, black woman democrat, Thomas.

The Democrat campaign successfully used these methods:

A Latin phrase which has come to mean attacking your opponent, as opposed to attacking their arguments.

Bandwagon and "inevitable-victory" appeals attempt to persuade the target audience to join in and take the course of action that "everyone else is taking."
Inevitable victory: invites those not already on the bandwagon to join those already on the road to certain victory. Those already or at least partially on the bandwagon are reassured that staying aboard is their best course of action.

                Euphoria
The use of an event that generates euphoria or happiness, or using an appealing event to boost morale. Euphoria can be created by declaring a holiday, making luxury items available, or mounting a military parade with marching bands and patriotic messages.

                Intentional vagueness
Generalities are deliberately vague so that the audience may supply its own interpretations. The intention is to move the audience by use of undefined phrases, without analyzing their validity or attempting to determine their reasonableness or application.

The intent is to cause people to draw their own interpretations rather than simply being presented with an explicit idea. In trying to "figure out" the propaganda, the audience forgoes judgment of the ideas presented.

This thread is pretty interesting because it points out something that is not talked about much.

The endemic anti-intellectualism of the Modern Republican Party.

I find it interesting that Kowabonga's comments are ignored, but his age and college affiliation are pounced upon as being all the evidence one needs to demean his participation.

In my opinion, Kowabonga has as much credibility as RedRiverJ.

Let me rephrase that, I would trust Kowabonga's comments FAR more than RedRiverJ because RedRiverJ is so blinded by Right Wing Hatred for Democracy, he/she cannot possibly make a reasoned case about politics.

Kowabonga is studying the issues with fresh eyes, thinking about the issues, even collecting data points by viewing Propeller.

The truth be told, and in my opinion, given the chance, RedRiverJ and other right wing members here follow the same reference points as General Augusto Pinochet in Chile. A military dictatorship that represses liberals and intellectuals. And I personally believe that it would not take much prodding for these 'citizens' to take a step towards some form of violence towards those they disagree with.

It happened in Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua, and Russia.

This is the blue-print for hardliners the world over. Whether they be hardliners in Russia, Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua, .... or the United States of America.

Tell Kowabunga the story about how colleges are inherently liberal. Tell Kowabunga how they get more liberal every day. Professors are ideologically driven these days and are unashamed to wear their liberalism on their sleeves. And how do you know Kowabunga is a "he"? All of Kowabunga's comments have been non-gender specific. You have either assumed Kowabunga to be male based on the arguments and words they use, which is an indication of your views towards women, or you know Kowabunga because you are him.

Most Propellerites know of your penchant for using multiple personalities to drive home your point. It's often funny to see you defend your alternate egos.

In this case it's more sad than anything because in defending Kowabunga, you have revealed your latent prejudices.

In the future, when you use a new character who is supposedly a college student, you should introduce words that these people use. I recommend the Urban Dictionary for a little background work.

Kowabunga uses the word "buds" quite a lot to describe his friends. "Buds" is from the '80's.
You should use something like "bro's", "homies", "homeskillet", "beotches", "gangsta", "brothas" etc.

Anyway, your latest puppet was too easy to spot, try harder next time, pimp.

Taxes = I pay my share every year. They are a necessity to living in a free society.

Abortion = The pregnant woman's choice to make. My right to say it is immoral in most cases. Not a religious type of immoral but a human type of immoral. Humans should be better than that.
P.S. - With a name like JEBUS, I would be curious to know what you think of this subject.

Gays = Same as me, same rights, same benefits, same penalties. Humans should all be classified the same way. Take the vote in California for instance. The people of the state voted and their will should be accepted until which time a new vote can be taken. Any judge who says differently should be removed from the bench.

The Democrats and Obama support one simple idea: Basic Human Rights for all Americans. Basic Human Rights; Each person regardless of position in society has the right to freedom, privacy, safety, an adequate standard of living, education and healthcare. ALL Americans should expect no less for its fellow citizens. If YOU do not value social policy that supports basic human rights for all Americans then YOU are following the path of Hitler.

If you feel you are entitled to something better than an adequate standard of living, healthcare and education than you can use the Capitalist systems to pay for it. We all know those who believe they are deserving of more than others. You certainly have the freedom and right to place yourself above all others but don't believe for a second the rest of us regard you in the same manner.

So, extra taxation for people who have an education and have worked hard to make something of themselves; to pay for the people who are too lazy to work and prefer living off the government, makes for an adequate standard of living? And, if I don't believe in this "social policy", then I must follow the path of Hitler? Wow, is there a specific type of crack that you prefer to smoke?

No, extra taxation for those who have those possessions and instruments that require defending.

Let me ask you this concerning national defense and security: Who is more worried about the country being invaded and taken over - a millionaire or an inner city lower class working family whose full time wages are neither a source of pride or enough to exist upon?

Remember that poor people and millionaires have something in common: in many cases one does not pursue any course of action, or have any choice in which one they are.

They both should have concern for being invaded and taken over. Any person, no matter what their financial standing is, would have a concern. The point you are missing here is that the new taxes Obama is looking to enact, started at $250K. The last that I heard, and don't quote me on this because I have never stopped to verify the fact, was now $100K. These are not millionaires that you are talking about. These are people who either own or run small to mid-size companies. The same group of people that employ about 80% of the American workforce. My comments above say nothing about defending ones property, only about the taxing of one class' income, and giving that tax money to lower income to "even things out"; aka socialism.

I have never seen anyone until now use the figure $ 100K. I have seen comparisons of both McCain's and Obama's tax plans which were published during the campaign and Obama's increased taxes on those above $250K while lowering those below that rate. McCain's lowered everyone's, but was disproportionate in favor of those making above $ 250K.
Obama's would appear to give tax cuts to those most likely to spend the money now and thus be a plus to the economy (2/3 of our economy is consumer driven) while at least potentially not adding to the National Debt.
McCain's would have potentially gone directly to the National Debt and whether it would help the economy is nebulous, at least in the short term.
Please note that there was an upper limit on the Stimulus Package doled out last spring by the Bush Administration. It would seem that they agree there should be an upper limit for a "tax cut". I didn't get one because I make too much money and it didn't bother me in the least.

Here is one link, it's an article submitted by Populist just a couple of days ago. The cutoff figure has been bouncing back and forth for some time now. If you were to search propellers' past articles, you're bound to find something about the figures.

Obamas promises only appear to lower taxes for the middle class. By his own admission, Obama will have to scale back his plans. All of his promises cost money that the feds don't have right now. He can either tax everybody more or drop his plans.

I did get a check last spring, and I have 3 kids; so it was a descent check. It was nice to get one, but really did not last that long or really help. It was meant to make consumers spend more, I ended up paying off some credit cards and other small bills. It would be nice to get one now before Christmas, because that's when I stack up most of my credit card debt.

freedom is not free - you rightwingers apply that policy to the cost of another man's(soldier) life, but not to your own check book - i would gladly give x tax dollars to help out those less fortunate than myself - while i would not appreciate the small % who leached the system - the number is higher if you use your right wing propaganda - it would be worth helping out the larger %

they would be spinning in their graves realizing that their successors have turned this into another third world nation - if they couldve foreseen the rising costs burdening the average citizen while not effecting the rich - and see that our country has no interest in helping those out who are less fortunate -

while they were not in favor of heavy taxation - they were also not in favor on impeding upon one's rights and opportunities - especially seeing that numerous other countries have developed systems to provide these basic rights have worked, there is no reason that we cant go above and beyond improving upon these once again being the role model for the modern world

but we are too damn proud as a nation to follow by example -

what about invading whomever and whenever - is that not showing arrogance - so sorry i believe that the world can look up to us - after all isnt that what we are taught, is that america is the best nation in the world - are we done improving our country?, mccain ran on change, was that change for the worse - i am just saying we can set a positive example by showing we care for our own citizens - we use our war powers to show that we believe in human rights, that isnt what the world wants to see

Moxxxxxx, you said that the Democrats and Obama support one simple idea: Basic Human Rights for all Americans. Basic Human Rights; Each person regardless of position in society has the right to freedom, privacy, safety, an adequate standard of living, education and healthcare.

The Constitution gives us the right to "Pursue" the standard of living we wish to live wether it be adequate or above adequate, depends on how hard you want to work for it. The capitalist system is what made America the country it is today.

As far as Democrats wanting people to have privacy, look at what they did to "Joe the Plumber". They dug into his life and smeared him all over the media because he asked Obama a simple question about his tax system.

The Democrats and Obama want a Nanny state and control of every aspect of our lives. They will get rid of the middle class and all that will be left will be the workers and the rulers who will have all the wealth. How's that for "change"?

He used our fear of the bogeyman to extend the government's reach into our lives, and he gave to the wealthy (the "ownership society") while protecting cheap (immigrant) labor. You are comparing Obama to a myth; why nottry comparing him to reality?

And Americans have advanced the Constitution to allow "pursuit" in a society based on equality.

Opportunities to pursue an adequate standard of living are neither equal or just in America.

I agree, God help our country when so many Kool-Aid drinkers are voting for people like George W. Bush ... just because he says he's a Born-Again Christian.

In my humble opinion, anyone who voted for George W. Bush for President should not be allowed to use terms like Marxist, Communist, or Socialist. Because clearly, you don't have the slightest idea of what those terms mean.

For instance, George W. Bush just took money from the taxpayers and gave it to banks. What do y'all call that?

Yeah, now they want to bail out the auto industry that's been ravaged by the same unions that have supported Obama and his party.

...For instance, George W. Bush just took money from the taxpayers and gave it to banks. What do y'all call that?...

it was GW Bush AND the democratic congressional leadership. let's not forget the democratic leadership.

you ought to get past that idea that the Democratic Party can hide anymore. they will be exposed for the weenies they are.

The Republican genius can knock Obama and make claims of his plans all they want. Seems the one sided President now and his Buds haven't a clue how to help anyone but themselves. Republicans should try coming up with a plan that would actually be something to help this country instead of focusing on Spin Doctoring Bullschitt on others.
You guys are quite Pathetic. Thats why you lost the election.

Seems the greed of the one sided conservative has sent this country to the schitter. There are one or two programs that they use else where in the world that are socialist programs that work quite well which should be tried here. Its interesting that Republicans are so closed minded and one sided that they wouldn't be even interested in seeing if it can help the country. By they way azzholes,,, it doesn't mean we will be communist. If theres any communist its Republicans wanting everything one way their way, one sided.

And the fear and smear continues. But who thought it would stop among those for whom the world is best drawn as (double-meaning intended) black and white, as us versus them.

Of course those commies made a great "them," and the opportunity to resurrect the cold-war paradigm of moral capitalism versus immoral, bogeyman communism is just too tempting.

What Red River and others of like mind should do is figure out what within them requires this unceasing dichotomous division of the world.

It is possible that Obama might do a world of good for this nation. Why not wait a bit to see how effective his government is before crying that the sky will fall?

I must admit that though I was intrigued by the headline of this story, I couldn't make myself read yet another ridiculous World Net Daily story. However, I can tell you from the story's summary that at least part of it is a lie.

Obama does not propose a single-payer system (and I still support him, even though I wish he did). In fact, Obama's healthcare plan doesn't even cover as many people as the one Hillary Clinton proposed during the recent elections. The single-payer idea was killed by the insurance industry's massive ad campaign (remember "Harry and Louise"?) when Hillary first proposed it during the 1990s.

But just keep the lies up, Republicans. This tactic of lying about your opponents' positions rather than offering anything new of your own in order to scare voters into voting against Democrats clearly resulted in a disaster for your party.

As long as you all continue to live in the world of conspiracy theorists, your party will continue to disintegrate. In bad times that require real solutions, the voters aren't buying distractions anymore.

The article is headlined on a false premise. There is nothing to suggest that the CPUSA even understands what Obama's agenda IS. They certainly have neither the authority nor the inside track to "map it out." This article is a freakin' joke (as is the CPUSA.)

What is interesting is that the Republicans attempts to divide and conquer did not work this time: they could not get us to dislike each other. Could it be, that Obama, by not being too defensive, was able to keep the conversation away fron the spurious non-issues that needed no answering?

I am confused, didn't the greatest generation fight and die to protect this country from communism. I wonder what they think of the new Red Untied Socialist States of America. How long will it be before you need papers to go from state to state. Oh by the way I think GWB squandered the biggest chance this country has had in decades to do good things AT HOME after 911 when the country was more united than ever.

.... and bundle you off in the middle of the night on an extraordinary rendition flight that jets you away to a bare boned, brightly lit, blood spattered cell effectively cutting you off from all contact with the outside world that now regards you as missing presumed dead, including your wife, your children, your family, none of whom you may ever see again while you are indefinitely detained without charge so don't even think about anything as civilized and humane as legal representation.

no that's not sarcasm, that's happening and been happening for a few years now. it's one of those things we do best

"passing laws to make joining a labor union easier"
The "card check" laws proposed are not to make joing a labor union easier. They are about make not joining a labor union harder. This may be merely a subtle difference for some, but it is unsubtle enough that even George McGovern gets it.

Are we going to war or are we pulling back? Hitler went to war and i am sure the USA is not on the war path. The next 4 years will be spent on cleaning up the mess, bringing home the troops, get the American lives back on track.

What a commie liberal fasist nazi homosexual anti-american idea, to unionize walmart. The walton family needs all those billions to support their mega church and send millions to lawyer up against the nazi homosexuals who want to sodimize your children.

This country was built on the 100 hour work week, at less than minimum wage. The rich are rich because the baby jesus made them so, and the nazi socialist single payer facists want to tear the fabric made by the baby jesus.
