Trypanosoma vivax is a disease causing Nagana, or Animal African Trypanosomiasis in animals. This disease had a significant effect on African history by keeping horses and camels out of much of Africa. Isoenzyme comparisons reveal a high degree of similarity in the disease occurring in different parts of Africa.
