"Its the word of God revealed to the Prophet then written by men."

I just spilled hot McDonald's coffee on my lap. OUCH!!
How the Heck do you know what the word of God is?
Surely you don't believe that some random dude named Mohammed spoke to GOD!

Help! I can't breathe, laughing so hard... LOL!!!

Is this the kind, moral, ethical response we can expect from secular humanism? I guess extremism of any kind addles the brain.

Extremism = posting a comment on netscape. LOL!

Yet you are very quick to scoff at the notion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

        Extraordinary beliefs require extraordinary evidence!

Pasta has existed for many centuries and still is enjoyed my many.

Haven't you ever heard of the Olive Garden of Eden, or were you brainwashed into believing that the Body of Christ is a rice cracker?

If this is the example that is going to be set by the new Prophets of Atheism, then I guess it's no surprise that there are so few self-proclaimed atheists.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.. True enough. How's that supercollider that you're building in your backyard to provide independent proof of quarks coming? What, you say? You're depending upon the word of those higher above you on the science hierarchical structure to provide proof? Priests have always loved wearing their white coats.

Scientists aren't telling people quarks are providing moral lesson and unlike gods, nobody has an emotional investment in quarks.

"nobody has an emotional investment in quarks."

Try saying "quarks don't exist" to a scientist. Or an atheist. Or a secular humanist. Plenty of emotional investment.

You're right that most people aren't saying they provide moral lessons. But they do support a framework of science. Which proports to teach moral lessions.

"science purports to teach moral lessons"

I would say science teaches us more about truth and consequences than it does morality.

I am an atheist and you can safely tell me that quarks don't exist, because I have no emotional investment in their existence. My being an atheist, an American, a human, a father have not a thing to do with the existence or non-existence of quarks. If compelling evidence is found for quarks my life won't change, likewise if compelling evidence shows quarks don't exist, my life won't change either.
Quarks do not support a framework of science either. Just as above, if compelling evidence if found showing that quarks don't exist, science won't fall apart as you suggest would happen if quarks were really a "framework". Science is a means, not an end.
