Inmate escapes German jail in cardboard box »
Posted By BronxBomber 1 year ago in NewsA manhunt is underway in west Germany for a convicted drug dealer who escaped by mailing himself out of jail. The 42-year-old Turkish citizen--who was serving a seven-year sentence--had been making stationery in a prison workshop. At the end of his shift, the inmate climbed into a cardboard box and was taken out of prison by express courier. His whereabouts are still unknown.
The chief warden of the jail, Beate Peters, told the BBC this was an embarrassing incident: "For years I had been asking for more security guards from the government. But now they'll have to listen."
The prison authorities in Willich, near Duesseldorf, said the man, who was tall and broad-shouldered, had hidden in a box that was about 150cm by 120cm. When the weekly express courier arrived to pick up several boxes of merchandise, the one containing the prisoner was also loaded into the back of the lorry.
Shortly after it had passed through the prison gates, the inmate made his dash for freedom by cutting a big hole in the tarpaulin of the lorry and jumping off. The driver alerted the police after he noticed the tarpaulin flapping in the breeze.
The warden noted the man must have had accomplices outside the prison. "As soon as the prisoner jumped off the back of the lorry his friends would have picked him up," she told the BBC. "We have no idea where the fugitive is hiding. We assume that he is still in the county and is lying low before making his move."

Europe is a continent...not a country. Being a Muslim is a religion, not a race, so it's an assumption to say that the Turkish man was in fact a Muslim, like it's an assumption to say that all Muslims are criminals...think about that.

Smooth move Turk! What an idiot, though, 7 years: should've just done the time. Wonder how long he had to go. He probably would've only had to do 4.5 out of 7. I could do that standing on my head. What a wuss.

Sorry charlie they do not have reduced sentences in Germany - you di the crime you do the time! We should try the same over here --- instead of giving these scumbags reduced jailtime or plea bargain when supplying information to the Prosecution . -

I think this is the funniest thing I've ever heard. I hope they never find him. It's the Prison's fault. How about the Wardon blaming the goverment thats bull. I know you aren't going to do that here in the U.S. at least not this day and time. It is crazy though cause here in the U.S. It's like automatic 10 Years for excape from any Jail. Rather it be a County Jail or a State or Federal Prison. Run like HELL Turk..

That's Germany....in this country- USA-....he'd be back on the streets in 5 yrs or less...all his medical, food, and roof over his head paid for with my tax dollars! And if he wanted to escape...he can just steal a guards uniform, and walk out the door!
