A correlative study has linked the having of "too many birthdays" with becoming "old".
Dr. Manfred Syngensyn, Professor of Oldology at Miami State University said, "After years of research our study has determined that those we call 'birthday hogs' often suffer adverse affects. In fact, in every case, the having of too many birthdays was fatal to the celebrant."

Feeling old and useless means you have dementia. Being old and useless is what depresses you.

A lot of studies have found that giving elderly people something to do is great for their physical and mental health.

I mean, I don't condone forcing grandpa into hard labor, but keeping them physically and mentally active is not a bad thing. :D

That being said, I cant wait to be old and useless. I'm going to torment the crap out of everyone cause I can.

When I become older and useless (notice that I said older and not old) I want to have dementia or alzheimer so I'm not aware of how old and useless I've become. No depression for me.

I do not fear the Reaper.
I know that today is the last day of my life so far; that we are all dust in the wind, asses to ashes, and the circle of life means you get a ham sandwich today and tomorrow you are a ham sandwich.

Ok, I don't get that last one but I just type what they tell me.

Anyway I like being old and useless; people rub my bald head for luck and girls change clothes right in front of me because they assume I don't care anymore which is a mistake.

And the Reaper is just an old friend I haven't met.

It is important to cultivate a positive attitude so that when we become old and useless we can enjoy it. For instance, if we should develop dementia or Alzheimer's, we can look forward to new shows on TV every time we watch and we can go to bed with a new woman every night.

(In my case, I'm lucky that the new woman will be my wife each time. I had to throw that in here in case she reads my comment.) It was our 21st anniversary yesterday. Hi honey!

Somehow this doesn't seem very scientific for a supposedly "scientific study." I mean, if I was 25 and sat at home all the time listlessly watching tv and viewing photos of my ex, I'd be pretty damn depressed too, right?

Comparing productive, employed young folks with unproductive old folks seems like the results wouldn't mean squat. Are they in their homes BECAUSE they're depressed, or vice-versa? Is age actually a factor at all?

Seems like it'd be a more meaningful comparison if they compared non-working couch potato "under-60s" with the non-working couch potato old folks in this study...Or active, working old folks with non-working old folks.

I'm just happy to be in the "under-60s" group.

Me too..Its depressing to think that I may get depressed when I get older and depressed....Fight it all the way to the end...

The thing I find most distressing about--how shall I put this discretely?--getting old, is that though the spirit remains entirely willing, the flesh, the edifice, begins to crack and then crumble.

And of course the latter fact affects the former.

What we really need to do is convince those who spin the wheels of commerce that old people are an entirely active--no, positively salivating--market.

Once the market caters to the more mature...well, general social approval will rapidly follow. Children will no longer run everything. And the world will be a better place.
