Those who support and those who rejected Proposition 8 will now have their chance at proving to the court the merits of their respective arguments. Gays and lesbians want the opportunity to present their case which claims that marriage in all forms is a fundamental and deeply personal right. It is a right so basic, no government entity should be allowed to block it for any reason.

Opponents of gay marriage claim that marriage equality will tear at the very fabric of society and violate traditional values. I disagree with the underlying theories of this premise. First, gays and lesbians, whether one wants to accept their existence or not, are a part of the fabric of life. We do exist, and we will not seek refuge in a closet any longer.
As for traditional values, St. Paul in the Bible talks about slaves needing to follow the commands of their masters. Yet, our nation abolished slavery in 1865, and finally updated our civil rights laws as late as 1964. Traditions can and should change to keep up with societies which recognize injustice and tyranny when it is thrust upon a minority of people. I applaud the justices for following the spirit of the law of fairness and equality in our nation. -

I am all for equal freedoms, but when this stuff begins to affect the children, that's when I have an issue with it. As long as people don't force their way of life on others, it should be fine. Based on the information I've gotten so far, that was not the case. If the lifestyles of gays or lesbians were taught in our kids' schools, being the parent of two little girls, I'd have to be against it. Skin color or gender cannot be discriminated against, but actions and morals should be...

Gays and lesbians exist. You cannot and should not shelter your children from them forever or they will maintain and foster the same level of hatred or animosity you seem to harbor. No one is forcing straight people to marry gay people, that would be preposterous. As for gay and lesbians relationships being taught in schools, ask yourself, would you rather have teachers present a curriculum of tolerance and acceptance of other people, or would you prefer to force the legislature into writing laws which protect gays and lesbians from the abuse thrust upon them by ignorant children who should have learned better if only they had not been taught to hate?

In this instance, Harbeas, "the people" are at the very least ignorant, and at the worst, bigoted.

Mass will isn't in itself invariably a good thing; it can be challenged and overrode, and should be when it's discriminatory or harmful in other ways.
As it is in the case of Prop 8. The irony is that the institution of marriage is strengthened rather than the reverse by allowing gay people to wed one another.
Those who believe the opposite act out of irrational fear and/or moral obtuseness.-

Here someone goes again. To disagree with the gay community automatically marks one as a bigfot. Not! "The irony is that the institution of marriage is strengthened rather than the reverse by allowing gay people to wed one another". That is absolutely untrue. Did you just make that up? Once again the gay community wants the government to stay out of marriage. But they are not averse to going to them and asking them to disallow 2 seperate votes by the people rejecting same sex marriage. Because if the supreme court keeps reversing the outcome of elections what's to stop them from reversing the presidential election or any other elections?
