The greatest tragedy of all is for a parent to have to bury their child.

You are so right Uncle Dave. My sister, and 2 of my brothers have had to bury their children. Neither one of them have been the same since. One of my brothers passed away 2 months after his son was killed in a car accident, my other brother only has weeks to live now. My sister isn't well, but she tries to keep working to keep her mind off things, but it doesn't help her much, the Dr's keep her on antidepressants. It is such a tragedy for the whole family.

Ouch, N2N, that is tragic for your family.

I feel very very lucky that in our family we have never had this happen except for a still born grand child. We are very blessed.

I never want to know and pray that I will never know the agony of that pain.

            n2n,

My condolences go out to you and your family. My Mom had to bury a son and it took a terrible toll although she was a very strong woman. My brother died in the 80's from AIDS before most of us even knew what it was. He was in the hospital in another state and my Mom was able to be with him when he died but it was only a matter of a few days before we found out until he died. My biggest regret was that I wasn't able to travel to be with him too because I was pregnant with risk and my Dr. wouldn't allow it.

This song made me cry again.

One can not imagine the pain involved in this. It's a crazy story. The boy had been playing a game where he ran up to the window, touched it and then ran back. Some workmen were replacing one of the windows and had not done a good enough job of closing off the area. The boy ran up, touched where the window should have been and was gone. Absolutely devastating.

It makes one want to believe that there is somewhere after this so that Conor and his father can be together again.

That song is beatiful, and knowing this about his son makes it more beatiful and I also have to admitt it make me cry.

This reminded me of a woman I knew years ago. I knew she had recently lost her 16 year old son to cancer and when I walked up to her to give her my condolences she was happy. I was surprised, and told her I admired her ability to go on. I'll always remember her response. She said after watching her son in so much pain over 2 years and not being able to take the pain away, she was relieved that he was no longer suffering and was now in a better place. She was the first person I knew who didn't think of herself at the loss of her son, instead rejoiced that her son was free and finally pain free. I can't think of a greater love than that.

What hell he and his former wife had to endure. But there was so much beauty and healing in this song, I felt it was worthy of making a video.

Clapton needed to surrender to the fact that he could not live in heaven with his son yet…

To go on with life after burying your own child is such a nightmare to even contemplate. But, I could feel and hear resolve and healing in the anguish and love that this song expresses.

Thanks Spade. I love this song so much. I just had it in my mind this week because my paternal grandmother whom I love so much passed away. And just last month my maternal grandmother also passed away. Yeah, would they really know me when we see each other in heaven...that's something we have think about. It's really important to show how much we love a person while they are still alive and with us...life's too short:(

I've always been moved by this song.

I've always believed that Mr. Clapton had a little someone holding his hand when he wrote it.

It's simply beautiful and beautifully simple.

                                Thanks Spadecaller.
