I have to agree with mntnman.

Each state looks to their Constitution to define how they want to be governed. In this case, when Californians studied their Constitution, they determined that isolating homosexuals from rights granted to the population at large is not in keeping with social justice.

It was those who were opposed to granting rights to homosexuals who are trying to force their values on everyone else.

Personally, I look at is as a Civil Rights issue. In the 1960's, the Federal Government finally began to enforce the Civil Rights of Black people. This was opposed by people who were opposed to Civil Rights.

When you think back on what their rallying cry was ... it was ... "We resent the Federal Government trying to force their values on everyone else."

It's taken me a long time to 'come-on-board' with gay marriage. I was always for equal Civil Rights ... and I think that should extend to marriage.

And why not ... gays certainly couldn't do any worse than main-stream Americans ... or Christian Conservatives ... as Ted Haggerd, Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggert et al ... have proven.
