Would that be similar to Verizon Fios? Except you'd own the line in from the road?

There is a great deal of work being put into ways to "future proof" homes for immensely improved service delivery and inter-connectivity as higher speed services are made available.
The cost is a still a bit high but cabling is available now that will allow you to make media points anywhere in your home. This cabling comes with telco, ethernet, coax video, shielded pairs, low voltage power and fiber all in a single sheathed bundle. This can be run to any location and centrally switched in one single "master" location. It's become very possible and easy to set up a home system for mass media theses day.
If you had fiber from the house to curbside the sky would be the limit. -
