This is why it takes more than troops and bombs to win the war on terror. You must win the hearts and minds of the people to prevent them from wanting to join these kinds of groups. These groups feed on poverty by lifting up the impoverished.

Yes, you have a point. And military force should only be used as a last resort. I understand trying to teach the younger generation a different way of living that does not call for martyrdom. But you are going to have 2 or more generations that as too far gone. They only know war, violence and martydom. And military force is the only way to deal with most of them. Some you MIGHT be able to reel some back into society. But not many. Hezbollah has used its money and influence to help people but only to further there cause of war with Israel and the west. So, you must wiegh the benefit with the cost of dealing with a terrorist organization. No different then street gangs, organized crime, the KKK, and our own govt. No I am not comparing our govt. to a terroist organization. I am saying you never get something for nothing. And the American public does not have the will to commit to a long term involvement. We have grown use to fix it quick now and leave. And that is a problem, no long term/ forward thinking. And now you have elected a govt that wants to do to us, what Hezbollah has done to its people. Made then dependant, but for a price.-

I understand Hezbollaha's reasoning. They grasp the concept of 'you catch more flies with honey.' But this is no different than any political force that needs to keep the people in its pocket to survive. It doesn't matter what the reasons. What matters is that it works. And if we want to get a handle on the people in the ME, we aren't going to achieve it by force. They'll fight back....to the bitter end. Better to have a bigger pot of honey.

Yes, it does matter the reason. If you use people for your dirty work then you are as much of the problem then the solution. That makes you a thug , living a thug life, only using the people that you are pretending to care about. If that is your motive then the people are better off fending for themselves. By not taking your hand outs only to be persuaded to do an act of terror for you. Feeding there(terrorist) agenda and not yours. The ones that fight back , will fight just because that is all they know. You have to deal with them one way or another. Educating the children is a way to help stabilize the future. Black adults would tell black youths that they will amount to nothing because they are black. Not in a white world therefore causing more problems then fixing. NOW, we have a president-elect that is black. So that arguement is mute. Something, I don't know what yet, has to happen to prove to the ME that martydom is not the way. Fighting, bombings, suicide attacks are not the way. There are other ways to get your voice heard without pulling a trigger or pushing the button of a detonator. I just hope we figure what that something is soon because the weapons are getting more powerful by the day.

So now you call someone a thug.....then what? How does that diffuse a bad situation? As long as Hezbollah helps the people, they're going to stand by Hezbollah. So WE have to find a way to get past Hezbollah, and reach the people. And we're not going to do that by tough guy tactics. I'm not trying to say Hezbollah isn't 'bad.' I'm only saying we have to find a better way to deal with the ME mess.

I call it how I see it.(thug, terrorist etc) As I said, Something, I don't know what yet, has to happen to prove to the ME that martydom is not the way. Hezbollah feeds on the hate, distrust and possible destruction of Israel with money and weapons from Iran. I don't know, broke that support. No one has found that answer yet. H*ll, if I knew, I would not sitting here. But we can't be hamstrung on dealing with the "thugs of Hezbollah". AQ in the Anbar Province used heavy handed tactic that got them kicked out of the area by locals. Maybe the way to discredit Hezbollah is to cause a riff with the locals, either natural or man-made. No local support, no hide outs, no recruits. Maybe we can learn something from Anbar Province. Using the same tactics for street gangs, if the community is not cowed down they can't run around and do there trade.

Why? So we can have a third generation that knows war and nothing else?
.

I agree with the leave part, but what have you fixed quickly or at all?-

If we don't deal with the 2+ generation that have gone to far, then they will deal with us. Most likely by force because that is all they know. They will see us as weak and try to take advantage of it. Sound familiar??

Fix quick comment: Any and every peacekeeping/ military opeation that was done from Operation Urgent Fury and Beruit (1983) until now. Pick one they are quite a few. This has been the longest conflict since Viet Nam that we have been engaged. Everybody got use to in-out or fought at 20,000 ft. It caused more problems then it solved.

these people have had their homelands taken away, destroyed and family killed so it is not hard to understand how they feel. One only has to look at the film 'Occupation 101" to see exactly how these people are being treated. Palestine is a jail where the Israelis starve them of food and water.

The USA is no virgin in terrorism as it has supported terrorist activities against left wing countries like Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. They have supported the right wing dictatorship of Guatemala where over 100,000 people have disappeared because they wanted a better living and working conditions. God bless Chiquita banana.
Let us not forget the economic terrorism of the embargo of Cuba for close to 50yrs and the IMF and World bank is another one of it's tools to exploit 3rd world countries of the resources

Jovial is correct, in my not so humble opinion. By perpetually restating the problem, it fuels the fires that prevent the clarity of mind that we need to search for solutions.

The majority of the people in Israel, Palestine, and Jordan do not want more killing. They want peace. It is the bitter extremists, the militant terrorists, the corporate profiteers, both foreign and domestic, who constitute the driving force behind the violence in the region.
When seen in this light, the masses of people affected by these oppressors may be able to unite and work to expel those who are entrenched in a need to wage war. -

Sad, in this world that we still feel the need to murder innocense and love. With evil and hate.
No one wins in this routine, for the stakes get higher and higher, until the whole world must take a stand or become held hostage by extremists from all sides.
We are not able to live in peace for we know not what peace is.
Peace is not submitting to the whims of the evil in world, nor is it waging a "holy war."
True peace is the acceptance of Him who created us, His Way. Not our ways.
I'm sorry, in this world I see many who confuse religion for righteousness !!!!
None in this world are righteous !!!!
There is an answer, but few will acknowledge it.
But hey satan keeps pouring gasoline on the fire. We keep adding hatred to the mix. Pretty soon the world will go BOOM !!!!-

Had to think on your post as to me it is more than religion, much more.
You, being a Christian see the Bible as the way, but India as a different religion see a different way, as does Islam, Confucius, Tao and many others.
To me it is an idea taken to an extreme, Nazism, Communism, Democracy, Christianity all this does it create fanatics, and there is very little reasoning with fanatics, and it only takes a few to twist it into what it was not meant to be.
Theories are great and do work, until you add people.
Cheers. -

AMAZING,,,How in this article about the scary and dangerous group know as Hezbolah does someone see the need to put down the Democrats,,,Democrats are hugely supportive of Israel...always HAVE been..so what is your point.....it has been Democratic presidents that have brokered peace agreements between the Israelis and the Arabs.Bush sort of ignored the whole problem or asked much more concessions of Israel then any Democrat ever had.Just because a Democrat may understand the dynamics of HEZBOLAH better than you by saying that they have helped the people with health care and given them money for other social programs does not mean we condone them....Our point is we need to also give people these things if we are to fight on an even front....

moski388, for whatever reason, there are people on propeller who actually call themselves "liberals" and "conservatives" who have an ongoing juvenile blame-game where everything negative or destructive that happens is the fault of the other.

It's become so polarized that it's a circus to watch. The name-calling and ad hominem attacks are endless on both sides.
They are destroying each other from within--never mind outside forces.

Sadly, brainwashing and violence goes on on both sides. Neither excuses the other, but unless we are willing to face the facts and recognize that all coins have two sides, the situation is pretty hopeless.

Lets be honest here. The only ones who can make any difference in that part of the world our the Islamic leaders there. When the Islamic leaders and the people of these countries say they have had enough then this will stop and deminish. Until then nothing from any leader out side will change a thing.

I guess they do not realize that they actually keep themselves from experiencing anything on the otherside other than the vegetable state for thousands to millions of years because their etheric, mental and emotional body has also been ripped apart along with the physical body by the bomb. Those bodies do go onward with all memory of life and now those exploded bodies are damaged, shattered and far from whole. Sure eventually they can be made whole again, but what a price the soul pays for such misinformed guidance. Even worse is being blown by an A-bomb... and forget some of the new stuff man is coming up with. These are not play toys, nor interesting, they can erase your existance forever and in the least for quite a long time. We can only live heaven and a worth filled life through love, not by war or hate of others.
