I think the habit of expressing in conservative-liberal, Democrat-Republican dualisms tends to handicap our discourse.

It is fairer, IMO to say that the democrat and republican parties have both been taken over by corporatists, and that the values of both conservatism and liberalism are betrayed daily in Washington DC.

Hence the fad of "bipartisanship." Beware of it. Bipartisan measures tend to be those measures which betray the common agenda of the apparent duopoly.
