Actually I think it shows you something about what our society is becoming - people are totally self centered. "I" and "Me" is more important than anything else even human life
What "I" want regardless or whether "I" can afford it. "I" deserve it.
All the way to: What can the government do for "Me"
      Not a good situation

I agree up to the point of your "All the way to: What can the government do for "Me"" which just smacks of anti-liberal dogma. One could also look at it as "What can the government do to help those without, what can the government do to help 'them.'"

But that's not what people are looking at are they??
How many times to did hear people saying that Obama or McCain would do ___ (fill in the blank) for "Me"?
Not what Obama or McCain would do for those without or "them"
