Wonkette : George W. Bush Will Really Miss Presidential Food »
Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 11 months, 4 weeks ago in Political NewsGeorge Bush Junior has somehow been president for eight years , and it's no great surprise that much of the experience has been lost on him. All the ceaseless, pointless wars? The destruction of a major U.S. city? The collapse of our financial system? The cold fact that Americans are significantly dumber, fatter, sicker and poorer than they were when this clod took ( literally, ha!) office? No real impact on our simple fellow.

Dumbya may miss White House food, but America will not miss the ration of sh*t he has fed this country for the past 8 years.

The sooner he flees to South America to avoid extradition for crimes against humanity, the better! He can take that butcher Cheney with him!
Hopefully, he'll soon be getting used to the food at a Federal Prison.

I'm a big foodie myself but frequently do have other thoughts!

I was quite taken with another of the Wonkette stories too about GW eating his way through S. America:
Here, according to the AP, is a list of things Bush has mentioned and/or been excited about during his recent trip through Latin America where, when asked about the highlights of his trip he listed the following:
* “…eating some of that good Brazilian food.”
* Uruguayan beef
* Blueberries
* Hauling lettuce (”one of the great experiences of my presidency”)
* Dinner
* Tortillas with guacamole and beans
* Lunch -

This fellow Bush, ... ... ... how is it possible he became President of The United States?!
Reply
Here's a theory I've been kicking around. ... ... ... Lineage.
In old England, Kings would hand down their kingdom to their son's - whether they be deserving or not.
GW is a member of one of America's richest dynasties.
Quite frankly, I believe this fellow simply ran for office 'cause it might be fun' ... and because ... 'I'm a Bush - so I've been blessed by God to rule'.
There are plenty of people who believe a person is qualified to rule simply due to their birth. I sincerely believe that many people voted for GW for this reason ... it's a holdover from our European ancestors.
See? I'm STILL trying to come up with reasons how this draft-dodging, coke-head, alcoholic, master of the mediocre came to be our President.
... sigh ... shakes head ...-

I like your theories Goppy. At least you are trying to blame Bush on something other than the American people. Unfortunately it probably wont work. I guess the 51% who voted for him got what they wanted. I just can't figure out why so many people wanted a messed up economy, more spying on them by the government and a war that has no end. But I guess they had their reasons.

One of our local columnists theorizes that GWB represents the melding of the "church pew" and "country club" sectors of the Repubs. In line with this, he thinks that the Repubs will have a hard time finding another candidate that will fit these specs.
Reply
I also think that GWB had rivalry problems with his father. We all have those to a degree, I think; but seldom is anyone given as large a stage to act them out. At some points it seems he got into an "I can do anything better than you can/did" mode.

Of course I deplore Bush and his eight year "reign," but there's something way too facile, and undoubtedly inaccurate, about casting him solely as a what-me-worry buffoon.

Manifesting a terminal economy of self-doubt, and with no interest in introspection at all, he stands rather as The Man in the Middle--someone of absolutely average gifts, without intellectual curiosity of any kind, mistaking certainty for leadership. What he brought to the White House he also leaves with.
That's his tragedy--as man, as president.
