I’m going to assume that most of you reading this aren’t planning to attend tonight’s 20-course, $1,500-per-head dinner at Alinea (though there are probably a couple of seats left for you impulse buyers). So here’s what you (and I, sadly) will be missing. This is the second of three dinners in which Alinea chef/partner Grant Achatz (right) will alternate courses with former employer and mentor Thomas Keller; the first took place Nov. 11 at Keller’s New York City restaurant, Per Se, and the concluding dinner will be held Dec. 9 at French Laundry (Keller’s original spot) in Yountville, Calif.
