This is continuing, in a different way, the theme started by Spadecaller and Jovial earlier this week.

I submitted this, because I'm outraged that two of the women involved are getting slaps on the wrists. They are model beautiful, white middle class, worked in a position where they were to care for the vulnerable and did a horrible job. They verbally, physically and sexually abused vulnerable adults they were to care for.
If they had been a. white men there would be no talk of "he was just doing his job" by his relatives. Or the media has blown this out of proportion. People would be outraged and rightly so. b. People do not realize that the majority of nursing assistants and aides in hospitals and nursing homes are minorities and (at least in the Twin Cities) African Immigrants. The majority of this group do a wonderful and amazing job. However if two of them had done this they would lose their green card, visa and serve jail time. c. An American minority doing this would be sitting in jail.
My first job as a teen was in a Nursing Home. NOWHERE in the job description was there spitting on, groping of privates, or abuse of any kind.
To me Equal Rights includes all the benefits and negatives that go with it. Women who comment crimes such as these two women need to be punished the same as men. I'm tired of women who comment heinous crimes getting off on lesser charges because of their gender, class, skin tone or age. A white male their age would get jail time. Maybe not as much as a minority but would get it.-

Thanks CM for posting this story. Most of us have been around this site have learned who the hateful creeps on Propeller are and why they would neg your opening comment. RRcon is apparently one of them.

That being said, the elderly are vulnerable and easy to abuse. They are taken advantage by unscrupulous sales people, scam artists, and the sadomasochistic nurses aids that are mentioned in this article.
Why does our legal system overlook these heinous acts of abuse? Perhaps it's because the value of our older people has plummeted in our society and because of the narcissism that exalts youth and beauty yet lacks the intrinsic values of what a human being is.
Hatred for Jews, Blacks, the elderly, and gay people are all forms of bigotry with their own fingerprints of sickness attached. People who commit these crimes should be removed from society for a long enough time to uncover the underlying nature of their perversion. Slapping them on the wrists will only perpetuate more of the same.

It's incredibly sick, I don't give a dam what color, creed, whatever, the sentence should be more than a year in jail, with mandatory psychological therapy. -

I agree that this was horrendous and think they will probably not receive the full punishment. Not sure if I agree with the statement that it is because the perpetrators are white, middle-class women or, IMO, the fact that their victims are basically the "throw away" segment of our society.....the elderly. Would the punishment be different/more severe if their victims had been young children in a day care?

k9kssr-yes I think it would be more severe if it were children in a day care, can you imagine adults getting off with suspended sentences and probation if the workers spit in kids mouths, poked their genitals etc....???? no way! they wouldn't get off, why should these young women get off for abusing the elderly? they shouldn't.

I am disgusted. My father just passed away and had been in a nursing home (luckily in Florida and not near these poor excuses for human beings) and if I found out that the staff there was doing anything like this to him, I would hire someone to make sure those gals met with a little accident.

What horrid injustice to think that they are barely being punished because of their privelege.
These women should get much harsher sentences. In the idea of karma, I would like to think that they will be punished harsher. -

What a sad story and such despicable actions to inflict on people so vulnerable. People have to be held accountable for their actions regardless of their race or gender

I think these two should be punished severly. They wanted to punish the 8 year old that shot and killed his father and boarder severely. These two are definately old enough to know better. and it for sure isn't funny. IT'S FILTHY. It ****** me off. JP

The article states: "The eight young women attended high school together and worked part-time at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Albert Lea, Minn."

This raises a question in my mind and its answer may shed some light on this despicable, CRIMINAL behavior: Were these young women "volunteers" under the aegis of some MANDITORY social program one must participate in to meet graduation requirements? This would in no way justify their actions, but I believe it would supply a motive: RESENTMENT! If these high-schoolers were forced into the work, then I would find the authors of this attempt at social engineering at least partly at fault. Not everyone is "cut-out" or has the NECESSARY EMPATHY to work in such an environment. Whatever the reason for their part-time employment at this nursing home, THEIR BEHAVIOR IS INEXCUSABLE!-

The responsibility of their actions are 100% the fault of these girls, you're right not everyone is cut out for that type of work, but only sickos resort to torturing the defenseless. If I ever had those girls as a babysitter for my kids, bet your life there would be some questions too. If I were the parent of these girls, or the child of the abused...OMG I can't even imagine what I'd do, I'm sure they'd wish they went to juvey or prison.

yeah and that's a horror of it in itself, they should have the faces of monsters.
I hope this haunts them in some way for the rest of their lives, and they do a complete turnaround, no thanks to the justice system tho if they get off with a slap on the wrist.
