On Monday, December 1, a SWAT team with semi-automatic rifles entered the private home of the Stowers family in LaGrange, Ohio, herded the family onto the couches in the living room, and kept guns trained on parents, children, infants and toddlers, from approximately 11 AM to 8 PM.

Sad that our freedoms are degrading so quickly. It amazes me that the descendants of pioneers and colonizers are so accepting of the level of government interference we currently have. Problem is no one sees this as an issue until it affects them or someone they personally know.

Personally, I don't care what the gov't regulates, as long as every rule/law/regulation is made by Congress (rather than hired bureaucratic leeches in Federal agencies) and clearly states the rule's Constitutional authority. Also, it's ironic that many restaurant menus caution consumers about undercooked red meat, fish and poultry, but they will cook the food any way you wish, nonetheless. Where's big brother SWAT when you need them? Guess I'll pay closer attention to the waiters from now on -- they may have Uzis in their coats in case I order my food extra rare.

PsychoHoseBeast, you may be right about the story being a bit skewed. Can't argue with that. However, I highly resent megalomaniac hirelings that make up "the government" regulations (DOT,DOL,FDA,IRS, etc. etc.) and aren't answerable to anyone but their immediate bosses. If they're not producing new regulations, they aren't perceived as doing their jobs so the weight on "we the people" gets heavier and heavier by the day. All the while, an ELECTED Congress continues to delegate the regulatory details to the agencies. Is that what we elect these bums for? I don't think so.

Well...unless whatever they were doing involved committing violence against someone sending in a SWAT team was over the top ridiculous.

What were they gonna do...open fire with the kids in the room?

If not...then why the stormtrooper style raid? Take folks out back to shoot them? What was the need for a military assault?

Insane...like the horror stories I heard as a child when my father was giving me reasons to believe other countries had evil leaders. His tales always revolved around Tyrants mistreating their people with military style action for simple offenses.

He told me that was what was great about America...People didn't get treated that way. I am truly glad he is not here to see days like the ones upon us.

We don't need to worry about anybody selling raw milk. The gummint is going start taxing cows for farting because it screws up the o-zone or something, so cows will soon be on the endangered species list and will not be milked. No raw milk, no beef, no shoe leather, no problem.

There are many reasons we need Ron Paul. And many special interests who oppose him.

I am reading the comments posted here. Seems many want to spar over the idea, that the Government should "protect us" and that the Government should "ensure" we don't get ahold of food that may harm us..etc etc. Great idea.My question: DO THEY REALLY NEED TO USE SWAT TEAMS AND POINT GUNS AT CHILDREN AND TODDLERS TO DO THIS? . Reread the story. If this were your family, your children, would that be ok with you over some food? This country is losing our rights at a ever quickening pace..the same rights our fathers have bled and died and struggled to keep, many of us are all handing over with no conscience. This country had better wake up.THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS TO TREAT "FOOD" AS IF IT WERE SOME DRUG BUST. ANYONE HERE KNOW WHAT THE 4TH ADMENDMENT SAYS? TRY KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS B4 YOU LOSE THEM.

The thing is, the government should be there to regulate INTERSTATE commerce - sort of like the CONSTITUTION says it should. INTRASTATE commerce is NOT any business of the federal government. Since the story indicates this WAS a state swat team, it was done within the bounds of the U.S. Constitution. Whether or not the government should have any role in the selling of raw milk is a different matter, and I would say that if the government wants to WARN people, and they decide to consume it anyway, well -- caveat emptor.
