The Twin Cities Pioneer Press reports that a probe has been launched into Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman's ties to businessman Nasser Kazeminy:

Federal investigators are looking into allegations that a longtime friend and benefactor tried to steer money to U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, the Pioneer Press has learned.

Agents with the FBI have talked to or made efforts to talk to people in Texas familiar with the allegations, according to a source familiar with the situation.

An update of sorts regarding Senator Norm Coleman.

No this is not made up, not a crap story, and is viable. It's all over the local media here.

And this makes how many senators/governors/mayors involved in scandal and corruption just this year? Let's see....Blagojevich, Edwards, Craig, Foley, the New York governor, that senator from Louisiana wasn't it....feel free to jump in, I'm sure I am missing some.

The corruption crosses party lines, position and geographic locale. We need to keep that in mind when these threads turn into a blood sport. Politicians, in this day and age, should be considered guilty until proven innocent as soon as they take the oath of office. That way no one will be shocked, upset, disappointed or even thrilled when we learn about the dirty politician of the month.

    Good post CM!!

    I hadn't heard this one.

It is really sad how bad the corruption lies in our government, I hope that it all gets ferreted out so that we can start this new administration out without a lot of BS to waddle through. We can't afford any more time not focusing on our countries problems and being dragged down by corruption.

I don't think that he actually got any money, knew that they were trying to give it to him, or that the FBI was investigating him. The FBI should go ahead and investigate though.

Does anyone find it surprising that the auto bailout story is being ignored and instead...we're talking about an investigation into a Republican senator...and that a investigation surrounding Jesse Jackson Jr. is also being ignored?

I didn't realize how many liberals were actually running this show...

Look, if Coleman did something wrong, I'm sure there will be an indictment....down the road. And when that indictment comes, I'll be happy to discuss it.

I think the Republican party has to start recruiting politicians from the state penitentiaries to save the tax payers time and money. They can serve while they are on work-release programs.
