And this makes how many senators/governors/mayors involved in scandal and corruption just this year? Let's see....Blagojevich, Edwards, Craig, Foley, the New York governor, that senator from Louisiana wasn't it....feel free to jump in, I'm sure I am missing some.

The corruption crosses party lines, position and geographic locale. We need to keep that in mind when these threads turn into a blood sport. Politicians, in this day and age, should be considered guilty until proven innocent as soon as they take the oath of office. That way no one will be shocked, upset, disappointed or even thrilled when we learn about the dirty politician of the month.

I believe in a healthy distrust of polititians, K9,
      - but I don't think I can agree to assuming they are guilty until proven innocent.

That would lead to even more fighting; and even more cynicism.
Nor would it be fair to the accused, (of whatever party); and all the honest people would
just give up running for any office.

        Crymp

It seems to me all the honest people have already given up running for office. It's very hard not to become cynical.

I'm still running! (I just have no delusions about actually being able to win)

k9kssr, I agree it sure seems that way, but we can't give up innocent until proven guilty, besides that's what the government seems to do.

Is this a by-product of the FBI's greater vigilance against terrorism? All that "listening in" has got to have some other payoffs than catching terrorists, eh?
