Locky, I'm not sure what your point is regarding who founded media matters.

The topic at hand is 'Disinformation'.
Now, no one would care if Rupert Murdoch owned FOX if he had chosen to promote objective truth.
And no one would care if he hadn't placed Roger Ailes in charge if Roger had carved out an objective approach.
But Rupert, who happens to be an Australian, ...(and who had to bribe Republican Legislators to change a law that forbade foreigners to own our media) ... chose to hew a strict right wing perspective ... on all issues.
And Roger Ailes ... (former RNC campaign commando) ... has chosen to further his credentials as a rabid, partisan 'pit bull' campaigner.
I see Media Matters is simply a response to the disinformation being purveyed by FOX. It's a self avowed watch-dog to this 'foreigner's' (Rupert's) perspective.
Personally, I salute ANY effort that counters Propaganda. Perhaps if in pre-WW2 Germany, more people stood up to the immense power of the NAZI Propaganda machine, WW2 may never have happened.
See?
And believe me, Locky, there will ALWAYS be room for dissent in America.
But it's highly disingenuous of you to elevate what Sean Hannity promotes as 'Dissent' ... if it's PROVEN to be untrue. If it's PROVEN to be Propaganda.
Do you see? You do a major disservice to the whole notion of dissent.
If it's PROVEN to be untrue, how can it be said to be 'dissent'?
Plus, if you want an example of 'allowing no room for dissent' ... just watch Bill O'Reilly sometime ... and watch the way he shouts down those with whom he disagrees.
THAT'S what's known as allowing no room for dissent.
See?
