The Insurance Information Act of 2008 is federal legislation that would provide insurers with the ability to displace state insurance regulations with federal oversight. Representative Kanjorski has stated that House Financial Services Committee Chair Barney Frank shared his commitment to "moving H.R. 5840 forward as quickly as possible." Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson also voiced his support for the bill in the wake of the AIG bailout.
