Obama’s Helpful Hand in Blago-Rezko ‘Pay-to-Play’ Scheme »
Posted By pc25 11 months, 1 week ago in NewsThe president-elect sponsored a measure in the Illinois senate that made Rezko's kickback plot a lot easier to carry out.
Against the backdrop of Chicago’s Wacker Drive, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren stood and analyzed Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s most recent “pay-to-play” scheme, the auctioning of President-elect Barack Obama’s seat in the U.S. Senate.
Absent from the analysis of Governor Blagojevich’s role as auctioneer was the governor’s involvement in an earlier scandal. That earlier story went generally untouched by the media — outside of Chicago — because it had a direct bearing on the character of THEN-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE AND MEDIA DARLING BARACK OBAMA

Enter Barack Obama, state senator and chairman of the senate’s Health and Human Services Committee. Obama successfully introduced legislation to cut the size of the board down to nine members. Now you only have to bribe five members. But Obama’s legislation didn’t just cut the size of the board; it put appointment power directly in the hands of Governor Rod Blagojevich. And Governor “Blago” (as we Chicagoans love to call him) quickly appointed a number of Rezko’s cronies to the board.
If Obama could be connected to the “pay-for-play” scheme for building medical facilities, both Rezko and Blago had a reduced jail time card to play. And just as the latest Blago scandal broke, Rezko, whose lawyers were screaming for a quick sentencing hearing, has had a postponement. And in a rare display of coordinated silence, neither the Rezko defense team nor the talkative Fitzgerald is commenting on the delay. -

The connection between Mr. Auchi and Sen. Obama is tenuous. But given Mr. Auchi’s shady past, his history of bribing politicians, it’s not unreasonable to ask if Mr. Auchi, through Mr. Rezko, was trying to buy influence with a rising political star. And it’s curious that outside of the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune, both of which have written extensively on the Rezko-Obama relationship, only a British newspaper is asking.
as always questions never answered.......... -

You know, we really do have a pretty good system of checks and balances, that is when it works like it is supposed to. I know, there have been a lot of gaps in the system, that is where you and I come in.

As someone who grew up in Chicago, it's easy for me to say that you don't know the first thing about Chicago politics. Pay to Play is not how Chicago works. The system is set up on loyalty, which is where Obama is weakest to practice the Chicago style of politics. If there is a job opening, you put one of your loyal friends in the spot. That person in return, shows his loyalty back by backing you up on any subject matter that comes up. Where everybody gets off saying that Obama is a Chicago style politician is beyond me, he just your average crook, that's it. He does not deserve the honor of being associated with Chicago politicians just because he lived there for a couple of years.

Isn't it amazing that the MSM descended upon Wasilla Alaska like a pack of hungry wolves yet couldn't be bothered to go to Chicago?

Unless you were reading the Chicago papers you were totally unaware of what was going on in the Rezko trial
And how many reporters went to Chicago to look at the story on Michelle Obama and three of Barack's close advisers were involved with a program at the University of Chicago Medical Center that steers patients who don't have private insurance -- primarily poor, black people -- to other health care facilities. In other words, patient dumping
Also involved in the scheme were David Axelrod, Valerie Jarrett and Obama adviser and close friend, Dr. Eric Whitaker -

Unfortunately G corruption is rampant in both parties and we only rarely get a small glimpse when the most arrogant/foolish one's get caught.

All former presidents seem to get large paydays from foreign powers. Payola is rampant throughout the House and Senate some we know about most we don't.
3 trillion dollars a year go to DC and vanish as quickly as paperwork and creative book keeping can be done plus a few trillion here and there for their buddies that crashed our economy which in turn did the same world wide though the same sleazy things happens in world wide politics for those in the "Club".
It may be time for the serfs to rush the ramparts of the Elites of the world with pitchforks in hand demanding justice. -

God Bless Us Americans as we rebuild a true conservative base for the Country to lean on. Until then we will have to 'muddle thru' this liberal mess. I hope Obama is wise enough to see thru the 'trees' of DC. God Bless him as well.

Blago isn't worried. Did you hear him yesterday? Why he did nothing wrong and he has the powerful tool of the TRUTH to stand behind!

Gawd you can't make this stuff up.
He's like the kid on AFV with the chocolate covered face adamantly telling his Mom he wasn't the one that pilfered the cookie jar.
I'm still doing the wait and see for Obama, I'd have hoped he'd have a definitive answer by now about whether anyone in his administration has been involved with all this mess. -

I don't know of Blago is sane or not. What I would like to know is why it took 21 conversations between Emanuel and Blago to come to the conclusion that Blago wasn't going to get anything from Obama for his effing "golden thing".
Reply
Maybe Blago isn't insane and thinks all it takes is a denial that he didn't do anything wrong because that seems to work well for other politicians.....just deny it and it will go away.

IMO, things are NOT going to get better in this country until WE THE PEOPLE, put OUR partisan politics aside and demand the corruption to stop.
I'm tired of having my intelligence insulted by elected officials who think we are too stupid and lazy to understand what they are doing to us. As Harry Reid implied, we are just the unwashed, stinking masses. We even have our own political
"royalty" as evidenced by Bushes, Clintons, and Kennedys dominating the political scene for the last 30-40 years. -

George Bush and Co. cooked the intelligence and effectively lied us into a war and then messed it all up. Why weren't you concerned about this?

You lost this election, get over it. Instead of constantly trying to stir up crap why don't you try to help with the change that this country needs. -

This is another amusing piece which is trying desperately to link Obama to governor Blago's malfeasance. Unless you can show complicity, collusion, or active knowledge and participation in these crimes, your just engaging in self gratification. People know people. When you are in politics, it is probable you will have had contact with many politicians. Its not rocket science. If you started your career in Chicago, you will have had contact with the power brokers of that city. Now, if you waded through this machine and kept your nose clean, that only speaks highly of your integrity and it appears that Obama has done just that unless or until it can be proved otherwise. The more pervasive this scandal appears to have been and the fact that Obama wasn't a party to it demonstrates that he wasn't even deemed approachable by these other clowns for participating in their corrupt schemes. One can't help but miss the sorry and yet desperate tone of these articles. It is further vindication that Democrats have chosen well this election. God speed Obama!

frct, - "we" don't have to say anything. Blago is innocent until found guilty. It may be that the wiretapping can be found illegal by a Chicago judge, or Blago will be found of mentally competent.

No matter what, a lot of Chicago and Illinois political types and office holders are quaking in their boots.
