It's true that Holdren used his position last year as president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) as a platform to prod the Bush administration to do more to limit the carbon dioxide humans put into the atmosphere. But it also paints Holdren into a corner as not much more than a presidential climate adviser, and the implications of Holdren's appointment will be so much deeper.
