"Owned by the corporations profiting from war in Iraq, the media demands silence from its broadcasters; "Do not blame lust for oil on American interests in Iraq!""

Corporate control of the media is certainly one of the filters. But there is a far stronger one.
The media gets its information either through "embedded reporters" who see exactly what the military wants them to see, or directly from the military in the form of press releases and similar.
There is not a great deal of opportunity for independent media coverage of the Iraq occuption.
But the info is out there. Anybody who wants to understand the motives behind the invasion of Iraq, and the planned invasion of the remainder of the Middle East, need only read up on what the PNAC and its associated neoconservatives have been saying. It's no secret, it's right out in the open. The thing is, the stuff has been out there for years, so it would be problematic for a news outlet to regurgitate it now as "news."
