I trust Dan Rather's and depth of knowledge in news gathering and reporting. To say that the Bush administration pressured CBS to suppress this story is not surprising to me. Compared to the legacy that the Bush administration is leaving behind, that should not surprise anyone in the least. This whole administration was built and ran on lies and see where it got us. Dan Rather should pursue his legal remedy to the fullest extent.

The Bush administration and the neocons as a whole are a scarey bunch. They held fear over everyone, especially the press. They knew that if they controlled the press, they controlled the propaganda machine. Where oh where did they learn this? Sounds a bit like the 1930's Germany don't you think?

I think the headline is somewhat of a misnomer. Rather's beef with CBS has nothing to do with Bush's legacy. Any time a news person decides to broadcast something as fact without verification, he's in trouble. Come to think of it, doing anything important without verification will get you into trouble. The lack of verification could be equated with Bush's intelligence failures, no real verification there either. Look what that got us!

in the best case, bush will be in court for the next twenty years in dozens of independent cases, finally having to rely on the public defenders office, because he will be broke.

in the worst case, he'll just move to paraguay and die fat.-

With a little luck the new Paraguayan government (having finally gotten rid of the decades of right-wing dictators) will not allow Bush into the country, will conclude an extradition treaty with the US (and extradite Bush) or will turn him over to the international criminal court.

This is hilarious. Why would anybody bother to deny anything found in what were obviously faked documents. The font was from a printer instead of the typewriters that were used at that time. And this foolish man is trying to sue people for $70 million. He is living in la la land. He did not do what all reporters do with information like that to verify it is real. There needs to be at least 2 sources for information. His ego was such that he wanted to believe this and went with just the forged document. He paid the price and does not want to admit he was wrong. What a loser. His hate got in the way of the rules of the game. He blew it.

You just automatically defend George Bush..everywhere and anywhere. You're hilarious.

Don't you ever realize you're defending a bad guy??
EVER??
Are you really THAT oblivious? Or is it just stubborn, like those Japanese soldiers ton those remote islands they found in 1948 still fighting for the Emperor?
Your act is now reduced to comedic status around here.
How will you ever get any credibility here if you still attach the stink that is Bush to yourself?
Still! -

This is hilarious. Dot matrix printers were invented in 1970 by DEC and sold in huge numbers to the DoD. This is an entire FOUR YEARS before Bush was allowed to drift out of his "commitment" to the nation.

Endo, what's actually over the top funny is the way you and Klarissa and others here will suddenly become amateur crime scene investigators when the matter involved serves your interests. Yet the few reasoning and logic skills you actually *do* have will conveniently plunge into hibernation when it involves Barack Obama's citizenship or ACORN? ;-P

The one thing that makes me believe the documents are true is bushboys own words..When asked about where he served he said he couldn't remember..lol...Are you a vet endo ?Ask any vet where they served and unless they are in the last stages of dementia they will tell you precisely where they spent there time in the service..every minute in most cases..it is not something you just forget.

Endo you bush zen question. Do you have a stake in the robbery or are you just stupid. Many of us are not sure the answer but we know that you are a manure salesman either way. The document was confirmed by all the reality based experts as being a 12 year old writing by an English college student which W knowingly called the fraud realty. They scanned it and used character recognition software to turn it into a data file that could be sent everywhere on the internet. When the local outlets printed it out I am sure they thought it was more important to get the story reported on a printer it than hand type several copies and demand that anyone who reports the story have an official replica instead of just the words. By the way stupid these words will only appear on your screen and not a typewriter so don't bother claiming I wrote any of this.

It would seem that the media was very anti Bush during most of his administration, that does not equate into saying it was liberal in its bias. After the Obama honeymoon is over the press will go after him as well. That does not make the press conservative or right wing. There is a common thread here. Ever since Camelot , the press has been the 5th estate, anti government without regard to the party in power. After all, scandals, half truths and distortions sells when the simple truth will not. The media has one cardinal rule, don't get caught in an outright lie, maintain credibility at all costs no matter the price. Rather broke that rule.

this is more about rathers legacy than W's--the service records for bush indicate he put in WAY more time than the minimum--but why let the facts get in the way of your fanatic bush-bashing--time for the media to finally start looking into barry's background

--bush's record..this is what was widely published and acknowledged at the time--entered may 68 and spent the next 80 weeks in training ..flight school..etc not weekends..full time plus..you need 50 points a year to fulfill your guard req's--bush's record..68..253 pts..69..340 points..70..137 pts..71..112 pts..72..56 pts..73..58 pts..he also racked up over 300 hrs flight time in f-104 intercepters--he didnt just show up--he showed up A LOT--even in the last 1 1/2 yrs he had enough points to meet his req's--by 72 the war was wound down--there was a glut of pilots and no jets and a lot of them mustered out early..he finally took a discharge 3 mos shy of his 6 yr hitch-

They can find military records from even the war between the states, so Bush's records are somewhere and they will show what he did.

I have trusted Dan Rather ever since he took over the nightly news on CBS. Rather is one Texan that I have a lot of respect for and I beleive he will win the suit. I hope he does not settle it out of court and I hope the verdict is not sealed. I want the whole world to know the truth, if Dan Rather is wrong it will not be the first man to be wrong, but my money is on Dan Rather. -

He is 77 years old. By the time this suit comes to trial Bush will be long out of office.

I hope that Bush bashing will be a thing of the past. Perhaps we will have stories by Tocnwth-03 about Obama's first year achievements that are really interesting.-
