Comments for Astronomers Aim to Grasp Mysterious Dark Matter »

Posted By guyro 11 months, 4 weeks ago in Science & Technology

For the past quarter century, dark matter has been a mystery we've just had to live with. But the time may be getting close when science can finally unveil what this befuddling stuff is that makes up most of the matter in the universe.

One things for sure - however many mysteries of the planet we "solve" there'll always be plenty more..
Sometimes I lay in bed letting my mind simply boggle at the scale of the darn thing and how the heck it ever happened and being part of etc. etc.
That's without even ingesting anything either..
Of course the first time I took psychedelics I understood all the infinite aspects of the universe, for about 12 hrs.

To me, "Dark Matter", is one of the atheists' names for God.

You must have a rather mundane god there Mutainia, one who does not interact with the electomagnetic force, but whose presence can be inferred by it's gravitational effects on visible matter. Most folks prefer to imagine a god with more of an effect.

One that doesn't interact with the electromagnetic force?

I have Dark Matter between my ears and Dark Energy is what drives me...

Ok...on a more serious note...it will be interesting to see if anything comes of all this experimentation. I do believe we only see a small spectrum of all that exists.

I tend to think of it as "Galactic Glue" something that holds stuff together and might be leftovers from the formation of galaxies. The stuff that wasn't needed at the time.

It will be interesting to see if dark matter does exist or if there might be some other principal at work that holds it all together.

Who needs religion when the actual universe is more wonderous than even the greatest jewish story teller could imagine. Your virgin birth derivitive jewish egyptian mythology and resurection derivitive egyptian sack of lies is pretty pathetic in the face of a universe full of a mass yet uncharacterized, driving galaxies away from one another, more powerful than gravity, accelerating the expansion of the universe you are wizzing about on an encrusted molten rock about a ball of fusing hydrogen.

And you don't have to stick your head up your stinking stupid hillbilly arse and telepathically communicate with the invisible floating jealous Charleston Heston head in the sky asking for eternal life.
