Intruder Lives In Family's Attic For Days »
Posted By TimALoftis 12 months ago in FamilyPLAINS TWP. – A male intruder slept in the attic of a township home by wrapping himself with blankets and insulation, and stealing food and clothing when the homeowner and her family were away, township police said.
“It appears he was staying in the attic for a few days,” Sgt. Ron Dombroski said. “He was stealing items from the home and taking it all in the attic. It’s a double block home with a shared attic.”

I've got one of those trolls in my attic as well, he keeps stealing my reading glasses. I have bought hundreds, none are ever where I put them, and I only have 3 pair left. Maybe if I start a fire, I can flush him out. Or I could just blast away with my 12 guage through the ceiling.

That would be horrible to have someone intruding on your privacy like that. If he was cold and hungry that'd be one thing, but the guy stole lap top and other things....well now he can have 3 hots and a cot.
My Mom swears every year before Christmas, someone goes in her basement and tangles up all her Christmas lights lol!-

Maybe it was a homeless person's last resort and he figured the owners would not allow him to stay if he asked. Too bad. I think this is an opportunity to help each other. Don't think that just 'cause homelessness has not happened to you, that you are safe from it. Maybe he was hoping to go to jail. At least he'll have 3 meals and a bed there.

Food and shelter, maybe I could understand, but taking the computer and the ipod? Uh uh...he was taking advantage and it was getting good to him. He was starting to get bolder and bolder, and that's not a good sign. If he had kept a lower profile and just been satisfied with a little food and a place to sleep, he may not have gotten caught, but he was obviously after more than that.

I had to laugh when I read about this because an even more bizarre and frightening thing happened to a friend of mine 2 winter's ago.

Her in-laws are in their 90's and both are hard of hearing, in fact her father in law can't hear it thunder. Her mother in law called one morning, insisting someone was stealing food from them, so my friend went over to check it out. Sure enough, there was evidence someone had broken into their garage, so my friend called the police and began to search the house since the couple was "bad" about not locking the door from the garage into the house. When the police got there, they said about 5 days previous, they were chasing an escapee and he had gotten stuck in the snow, jumped out and started running and they lost him. They looked around outside and said there were footprints leading into the outside garage door that had been broken into, but none leading out. One of them went up in the attic and there was evidence someone had camped out up there. They asked if the house had been searched and my friend said, "All except the guest bedroom, I was doing that when you arrived." So, they drew their guns, stormed the bedroom and found him hid in the closet.....with a butcher knife he'd taken from the kitchen. Scared my friend to death, she felt she and her in-laws had had a close call. He'd been sleeping in the bed at night and hiding in the closet in the daytime
He got 7 years for Burglary First Degree. I still tease the little wife about her uninvited guest and she says, "He wasn't any trouble, he was real neat and always made his bed". -

This took place in my neck of the woods. A lot of homeless people, many of them drug addicts who won't stay in shelters, have taken up residence in empty homes, where they burn candles for light at night because the utilities are disconnected. They also frequently start fires for heat, which often burns the house down, along with adjacent property. Local law enforcement is insufficient to deal with the problem.

That's scary, we live in a huge historic house that was converted into 5 apts, we have an outside door off the street that leads to the basement or attic, sometimes kids would go down there and party, and I'm pretty sure some people had been sleeping down there. Who just goes around checking doors, and waltzes right in and makes themselves at home? I guess desperate people and teens. I'm seriously afraid one of these days someone will bun the house down, we find cigg butts on floor, fast food wrappers and last week a crack pipe! and have to keep notices on the door to KEEP it locked. It's weird having people around hearing your every step, 'watching' your comings and goings, if I was to find they came in my place, I'd freak! In 12yrs I've had 2 different people just open my front door and walk right in (drunks) I was sitting right here at my computer, my common sense goes right out the window, I yell "WHAT THE FUC# DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" and rush them......I know I should keep my door locked, but it's hard, I lived and grew up in a neighborhood where we never had to lock anything. We just aren't as free as we used to be.
