RNC Issues Apology To Negroes »

Posted By TimALoftis 11 months, 3 weeks ago in Humor

Just days after the news broke that former Tennessee GOP leader Chip Saltsman had released a song parody entitled "Barack the Magic Negro," the Republican National Committee issued what it called "an official apology to America's negroes."

In the statement, the RNC ripped Saltsman's song, calling it "tone-deaf, unacceptable, and offensive to every negro in the country."

"We do not want one ill-considered song parody to create the wrong impression," the RNC statement read. "The Republican Party has always been, and will always be, the friend of the negro."

But while the RNC's official statement was designed to quell the outrage surrounding Mr. Saltsman's song, it may have created a controversy of its own.

Just hours after releasing the official apology, the RNC issued a second apology apologizing for the first apology.

As part of the apology, they included a free mailing of 1952 calendars and "I Like Ike" buttons.

The GOP needs to desperately start listening to people like Colin Powell. the Republican Party must start to 'Reach Out'

Even Newt Gingrich understands something as basic as this.

If it weren't so tragic, it might be funny.

Is the LA Times apologising as well since they are the ones that started by calling PEBO the magic negro?

I'm a life member of the GOP. I know the comments may originally have come from comments made by members of the DNC, there's no reason why we would have ever used this song. Besides it not being funny, it's in very poor taste. We are the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower. Racism isn't in our history. We are the party that won the Civil War.

It was the LA Times that called Obama a "Magic Negro", which helped inspire the famous song.

So it's written in the LA times once and y'all feel your can use the term derogatorily or in a poorly written parody and then blame someone else for making you do it? The never my fault republican party at it's best. Take some responsibility for your party since bush hasn't.

Those who patheticly attempt to justify racist nonsense,
on the grounds that it was inspired by the opposition,
or was meant to be funny,
or was no worse than what some other person did,
              - make the same dreary error that brought the republican brand to its present low market share.

The Republicans are looking for new leaders; let us hope they chose ones that can at least recognize old mistakes.

The song was in poor taste, but the apology was hilarious. I'll give the RNC the benefit of a doubt just because they gave me a good laugh.

What I liked was "Jeremiah Was My Pastor", by Shanklin, sung to the tune of "Jeremiah Was a Bull Frog". Sounds just like it would sound if Obama was singing.
