Funny how Liberals forget the good things religions do. Countless hospitals have been started by Catholics here and throughout the world. No one cares about that. Christians and Catholic groups send millions to people in need and have started countless charities. What about all the places the homeless can go to that are paid for by religious groups. I Guarantee that Religion has done more to help the homeless than any Liberal has.

So next time you start bashing Religion like the haters you are, there is always good to go with the bad.

The good things religions do....... you mean like spawning such great humanitarians/religious fanatics like Osama Bin Laden and George W. Bush.

"Christians, in persecutions of other religions, in wars about religion, and in wars of conquest, have perhaps been more violent than members of any other religion except Islam.”
Shafer, Grant. “Hell, Martyrdom, and War: Violence in Early Christianity.” The Destructive Power of Religion: Violence in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam Vol. 3. Ed. J. Pg 193

Faith by definition is a belief in something that you know is not true.

Remember those that had faith that POTUS GWB would find WMD in Iraq and fix social security and rebuild New Orleans and support and defend the Constitution and obey and enforce the laws of the United States! Heckof ajobBushies!!!

Funny how CONservatives assume Catholics aren't liberals. Or Christians.

          Jesus was a liberal.

He overturned the ruling structure and prevailing social structure of the time and embraced the poor, suffering, and marginalized.

Social Justice certainly isn't a conservative movement.

Please stop trying to hijack Catholicism as a "conservative" religion. Haven't your kind done enough to destroy Protestant Christianity?

I negged this because it is a straw man. No one has claimed that religion hasn't done good things for the world. Some of us, however, believe in doing good without resorting to ancient belief systems that preach hell and damnation for all eternity for unbelievers, which a perfectly forgiving God would simply not do. 8)

            That's great.

Do me a quick favor. Count the number of soup kitchens and food banks run by Atheists and then count the number of soup kitchens and food banks run by Theists. Get back to me, yes?

        When Carlin also said..........

“Haven’t we done enough. We’re so self-important. So self-important. Everybody’s gonna save something now. Save the trees. Save the bees. Save the whales. Save those snails. And the greatest arrogance of all, save the planet. What? Are these f'ing people kidding me? Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves yet. We haven’t learned how to care for one another and we’re gonna save the f'ing planet? I’m getting tired of that ****e, tired of that ****e, tired. I’m tired of f'ing Earth Day. I’m tired of these self-righteous environmentalists. These white, bourgeois, liberals who think the only thing wrong with this country is there aren’t enough bicycle paths. People trying to make the world safe for their Volvos. Besides, environmentalists don’t give a ****e about the planet, they don’t care about the planet. Not in the abstract they don’t. You know what they’re interested in? A clean place to live. Their own habitat. They’re worried some day in the future they might be personally inconvenienced.”

He was and is, right. I'll definitely miss him!

Carlin was a first class atheist, and made fun of atheists, liberals, and basically the entire human race, but he had a special bucked of liquid crap to pour into the vacuum that is the space between the ears of religious baby-jew worshipping arrogant inbred cousin humping tent revival morons who think there is a Charleton Heston invisible floating head awaiting their last breath to take them to the walmart in the sky.

He correctly identified these scum of the earth fools as the lowest form of life on the planet.

But like you, I suspect he was very angry at life and lonely in his life.

carlin ended up as an angry, bitter, ranting old man who stopped being funny a long time ago.

Sounds like you're describing the current Pope or maybe a Fred Phelps. Carlin, on the other hand, was working right up until he died, so obviously at least some folks found him funny.

I didn't think Carlin was funny. He was just a god-less preacher good at exposing the obvious, is all. And, hey, the reason why that last bit of beacon in a package was so strange and weird was due to the way the machine cut the ham.

I'm glad I got to see Carlin perform in person. One of my favorite quotes of his is, "Some see the glass as half full, some see it as half empty. I see it as too big."
