O.K. Lets straighten out immediately that the Czech Presidency of the EU doesn't start till Tuesday and that the CURRENT incumbent, France, has condemned the Israeli action - and the Hamas rocket attacks - but ALSO highlighted for criticism the disproportionate use of force by Israel.
Reply
That's all from the story which this post references [except for the DATE of the handover to the Czech Republic]:
"France, which will hand over the EU's rotating presidency to Prague, has condemned Israel's strikes and the rocket attacks from Hamas militants and called for both to stop immediately.
It also said it deplored the many civilian casualties and condemned Israel's "disproportionate use of force," echoing comments from U.N. Secretary-General Bank Ki-moon, who has also called for a cease-fire."
******
How can anyone NOT deplore the use of violence, be it by Hamas or by the Israelis? That its disproportionate is indubitable. Hamas' hand-made rockets had killed 3 Israelis the last time I heard and the Israeli air-strikes 360 Arabs.
Schwarzenberg is a friend of Israel's, who very recently paid a visit there and also chose to spend his 70th birthday there last year.
Who knows whether this action may have been discussed when he was there?
Details of this visit were discussed here - less than a month ago:

As someone who should have some awareness of the geography and the situation on the ground it seems either a considerable dissimulation or exceptional level of chutzpah for Schwarzenberg to indicate as follows:
[also FTA]
[Schwarzenberg]said Hamas had excluded itself from serious political debate due to its rocket attacks on Israel. He also indirectly blamed the group for the growing death toll, saying it put its bases and gun warehouses in densely populated areas.

This in reference to one of the most crowded locations on the planet!
"The density of the population in Gaza is one of the highest in the world. For example, in the Jabalya refugee camp, there are approximately 28,571 people per square mile."

The world prefers their Jews to be docile. While Hamas was lobbing rockets into Israel with little or no effective response, the world was quite happy. But they're outraged now that Israel has responded. Hopefully, Israel will give the world's opinion all the attention it deserves.

I agree with engineer. If Cuba was firing rockets at Florida, I don't think we would wait to attack them, no matter what anyone thought. Israel has the right to defend themselves, just as we do. I mean, Saudi Arabia attacked us with our own airplanes, and we attacked Iraq. Who are we to question anyone?
