The truth about those Hamas rockets »
Posted By hyperbola 1 year, 1 month ago in ReligionFive years ago, the Bush administration lied about weapons of mass destruction to dupe us into supporting an illegal, immoral invasion of Iraq. A few days ago, Israel trotted out only an infinitesimally more credible excuse -- the Hamas rockets case -- as justification for its own murderous shock and awe in Gaza, a long-planned campaign perniciously aimed at ousting a “regime” that came to power via popular, democratic vote.
Yes, such rockets exist, but they’re little more than slingshots against Israel’s incredible military might, and they’re used out of desperation by Palestinians who’ve never been accorded the democratic space within which to gain redress of their eminently just grievances.
Israeli apologists have presented absurd propaganda about those devices. We’ve been asked, for instance, what would we do if rockets were being launched on our homes in New York or Texas, from Canada or Mexico?
The proper answer is that, if those two nations had been unlawfully occupied or embargoed by the United States for 60 years of relentless oppression and repression, and if all attempts at peaceful change had been forcefully prevented or scuttled by the U.S., then such attacks would be an understandable, indeed a justifiable attempt at gaining intolerably deferred liberty.
Our appropriate response wouldn’t be to bomb the hell out of the nearest Canadian or Mexican city, but to collectively look into mirrors and earnestly ask ourselves, “What have we done wrong to incur their wrath?”
And then act to correct the situation.
Conscientious Israelis acknowledge that the Hamas rockets rationale is fraudulent....
Two years ago, in Southern Lebanon, Israel engaged in similar bombings in civilian areas. Then, too, it maintained that only “terrorist” targets were being hit. As impartial observers finally ascertained the truth, clear evidence of enormous civilian carnage surfaced.
The Israeli leadership lied then, and it’s lying now.
There’s a veritable holocaust occurring in densely packed Gaza. Think Guernica, or the Warsaw Ghetto, with all the searing irony that comparison involves.
.... Whatever the most deeply hidden reality, Israel’s gargantuan crime must be universally condemned in the strongest possible terms . . . and halted at once!

I still don't know why Hamas launched rockets into Israel (occupied Palestine) when they know Israel will kill at least 10 people for enery one of their own killed. Then again I never understood why the French resistance would kill German troops in Germany (occupied France) when they knew the Nazi's would kill at least 10 French for every German killed.
But maybe the reason I don't understand the actions of Hamas are simply because I have never lived in a place occupied by foreign troops. Desperate people do desperate things because they have nothing to lose.-

It is more than just occupation. We are subject to an immense amount of zionist propaganda in the US. Did you see this blazoned all over the news in our corporate media?

Top Israeli rabbis advocate genocide
Yesterday I wrote a piece entitled "Israel's House of Horrors" about the openly murderous statements of Israeli cabinet ministers. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, I read a news article on the website of The Jerusalem Post that Israel's former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu -- one of the most senior theocrats in the Jewish State "ruled that there was absolutely no moral prohibition against the indiscriminate killing of civilians ...
..The Jerusalem Post reported that Mordechai made this ruling in a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert citing biblical authority. The letter was published in a weekly journal distributed in synagogues throughout Israel. ..
...This kind of genocidal hatred of Palestinians is not unusual in Israel. What used to be unusual was for it to be spoken so brazenly and openly. Of course we know what would happen if a Muslim or Palestinian religious figure made such a statement. We know the international outcry when Iran's President Ahmadinejad made statements calling for the elimination of Israel. Will all those EU officials who curried favor by condemning Ahmedinejad take an equally strong and public stance against Israel's former chief rabbi? Will they demand that Olmert publicly repudiate the letter he received?
A Muslim making such statements about Jews would certainly be banished from traveling to the United States, and could end up in Guantanamo for much less.
Under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide adopted in the wake of the Nazi holocaust, "Direct and public incitement to commit genocide" is a punishable act. One wonders whether the UN Security Council, which created an international tribunal to investigate the killing of one man in Lebanon, will pay any attention to the indiscriminate state- and theocratically-sanctioned massacres of Palestinians by Israel....

And there are Muslims who acknowledge Hamas to be the problem, not Israel.
Reply
So?
I didn't see quotes from any Israelis living in the Qassam/Grad missile strike zone. I wonder what those quoted will be saying when they're all in the strike zone.
Let's face it...Israel's enemies will obtain better and better weapons, but they'll always be decades behind Israel technologically. The IAF is now destroying launch sites almost as quickly as they are established, and in some cases, before launch occurs. It's only a matter of years before Israel can destroy any weapon directed its way before it's launched, fired, or even smuggled.

Well Albmore, if personal vilification and lies (see my profile) are all you have to offer to justify zionist crimes against humanity then you have already lost the argument. Would you claim that the author of the article I linked is not American, but Iranian?
Reply
As for your other claim, much of what I link here comes from American and Israeli jews. Would you claim they are jew haters? Here is a recent example (see below) For those who have been immersed in the enormous amount of zionist propaganda to which Americans are subjected, the bursting of the propaganda bubble often comes as a shock - apparently you feel comfortable inside the propaganda bubble.
Explaining the Long — and Largely Untold — History of Jewish Opposition to Zionism
THREAT FROM WITHIN: A CENTURY OF JEWISH OPPOSITION TO ZIONISM,
by Yakov M. Rabkin,
While many in Israel and in Jewish communities in the U.S. and other countries now promote the idea that Zionism and Judaism are, in effect, the same and that opposition to Zionism constitutes “anti-Semitism,” the historical fact — largely untold — is that, for most of its history, Zionism has been a decidedly minority movement among Jews throughout the world.
Since its inception as a political movement in 1897, both Reform and Orthodox Jews rejected Zionism’s basic premise of creating a Jewish state in Palestine and having Jews either emigrate to it or, at the very least, consider it “central” to their Jewish identity.
An overwhelming majority of Orthodox Jews, unwilling to accept the restoration of a Jewish state in Palestine by means other than divine intervention, considered Zionism a false messianic movement. Most Jewish liberals and socialists, having accepted the faith of the Enlightenment, with its emphasis on optimism, reason and progress, rejected Zionism as a reactionary philosophy. ....
... In the forward, Joseph Agassi, professor of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University, notes that, “The author raises questions about the myth that Israel protects the Jews around the world and constitutes their natural homeland. This book rightly shows that this myth is anti-Jewish. -

Baby jew demi-god, god bless the military industrial complex, omniscent Charleton Heston head in the sky, bless Haliburton and Exon and Dick Cheney, let us get down on our knees and telepathically communicate, may Boeing return a good profit to its shareholders, be they arab or jew or christian zionist, and may we all kill each other so the rich will get richer. As soon as the Palestianians come to the realization that Israel is here to stay - a fact that most other Arab states have come to accept - the sooner there will be peace in the area, and not before. Most antuZionism is thinly disguised anti Semitism. The Palestianians were presented with a equitable settlement in 1948 and they chose to reject it. They made their bed, but they refuse to sleep in it.

Why does Hamas fire rockets from residential areas that leave smoke trails when smokeless propellants have been available for over 50 years?
Face it, hype, Hamas is staking its hopes on the dead Palestinians it intentionally paints with Israeli target reticles. -

this article makes several good points about the need for the Israeli govt to have some empathy for the Gazans on order to help speed an end to this horrific problem.
Reply
it also fails to mention, while criticizing the Israelis for not having made peace years ago, that the Israelis have agreed to Peace plans twice in my life time, and been rebuffed. When Clinton was President they agreed to 90% of what Arafat asked for, but he would not give the other 10%.. peace agreements are made with sacrifices on both sides.
the problem with articles like this that you post, Hyper, is that they are one sided. both siodes have a responsibility for the problems, and both sides have a responsibility for peace.
the proof is in the west bank where the situation is improving dramatically. in fact the only thing really preventing the next major step.. is hamas in gaza firing rockets.-

The problem with your statements truthiness is that they are simply untrue. In fact a jew (Robert Malley) who was part of the negotiations has condemned the propaganda about Arafat "refusing the offer" as have numerous Israeli groups.

Uri is is an Israeli Jew who heads a peaceful movement known by Gush Shalom.
Barak has turned every stone to achieve peace
At Camp David, Barak went further than any previous Prime Minister
Arafat blew up the Camp David summit
All the time, we give, give, give. Arafat doesn't give anything
How can one make peace with the Palestinians when they break every agreement?
Barak is the heir to Rabin
The lynching in Ramallah shows that the Arabs are animals
The Palestinian media are instruments of incitement
They shoot at us and the Israeli army is exercising self-restraint
The Arabs send their children against our army positions, so that they can be killed, in order to provide pictures for the world media
Again it is proved that the whole world is against us. They are all anti-Semites
We have no partner for peace

1. We would return fire.
2. Eliminate the immediate threat. Protecting your own population is job #1 for any government. (Hamas by firing off rockets into Israel, knowing full well there will be returned fire, specifically, retune fire to the point of the Hamas rocket launch, Hamas is not only putting their population in harms way, they are targeting THEIR OWN POPULATION! Morons).
3. After the threat had been eliminated we would inform the Gov of Canada or Mexico to police their own territory and not LET this happen again.
4. Inform the Gov of Canada or Mexico that should this happen again we will take that to be an act of war, and that we would eliminate their government, along with a whole lot of lives.
This would be an automatic of ANY government ANY where in the world. -

nice post Hyper. Palestine is a prison and what should any country expect whether it be the USA of Israel. The USA could exert enough pressure on Israel but they are a servant to the Jewish lobby group. Israel is a terrorist apartheid nation who receives the latest US weaponry (free) plus over 3,000,000,000/yearly in aide.

The Jews forget and forget me if I am wrong but in 1956 Nssser was clobbering Israel and word came for the Whitehouse that if they continued the USA would consider it at war with Egypt. Sad that the USA has no independent
voice in the UN regarding Israel's expansion and atrocities like confiscating land which belonged to the Palestinians.-
