Shades of Red »
Posted By Shana4Liberty 10 months, 1 week ago in NewsThe GOP has offered up a very clear brand by way of its actions and words and this has been soundly rejected by the voting public. It is also being rejected by those who once considered themselves GOP members. The GOP can’t even sell its current agenda to its own members. How does it sell this to the general public?
The current GOP merely offers us a different shade of red. Until the GOP seriously offers a credible alternative, it can expect to continue its embarrassing decimation at the hands of the neoconservatives its members continue to trust.

One of the biggest problems with the GOP is they have in the last 8 years brought to light what both parties have been doing for even longer and that is fullfilling their own interest.Still little has changed. Now we have Clinton back on foreign policy. Well I have a question. IF the Clintons were so against soldiers in Iraq then why were they not removed in the 8 years Clinton was in office? If these two parties are not working together then why did Clinton sign into act the NAFTA policies started by papa Bush? If Obama is change then why do we see so many former Clinton admin. back in office?

Neither the Dems or the GOP have the interest of the people in mind. This entire election was a fraud on the American people. At the end both parties will blame the other for the problems that do not get solved and their internal goals will be achieved. They will keep us fighting among ourselves when they steal all of what OUR land has to offer.
How many public officials have been sitting years in DC and done nothing? They keep us diverted on non issues and continue their game. Steriods in baseball? Come on entire economic system was beginning to crash and this was important?
If you are an American and you want to look for your family and your land best interest, then look outside these two parties, get informed, get invovled and take OUR nation back out of the hand of greed and corruption.-

Before anyone can convince me to "look outside these two parties" I need to know that they are at least aware of their own biases. HTH did you manage to steer a story critical of the GOP to an indictment of the Clinton administration? HIllary Clinton was First Lady in the 1990s and our presence in Iraq during the Clinton administration was relatively insignificant compared to what it has ballooned into under REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP. What I get from your post is that you hate the Clintons and you apparently slept through the first six years of the Bush administration (because you have very little to say critical of the GOP). Both parties have their faults but the positives of the Clinton administration are roughly proportional to the damage and destruction created by George Bush and I have a hard time believing you when you make your anti-Democratic party bias so obvious.

George W. Bush saw Reagan as his hero and it is the Reagan Presidency that GW modeled his presidency upon.
And if you look at BOTH men's approach ... they are remarkably similar.
Reagan cut revenue while simultaneously ratcheted up spending to unprecedented levels.
Bush cut revenue while simultaneously ratcheted up spending to unprecedented levels.
Reagan was a huge fan of 'Trickle Down' economics.
Bush has implemented 'Trickle Down' policies.
Personally, I don't know how much impact a President ... a single person has on an economy. I believe Reagan was lucky to have a bounce that came after the Oil Embargo began to subside and our hostages were freed.
Bush has had some bad luck, but in his case, I think he brought more upon himself than other presidents.
For instance, his dis-interest in Government has caught us all up short as the people he placed into positions of oversight shared his belief that Government needs to 'Get Out of The Way' of business.
That's why, even as people in the know were warning about the Sub-Prime Mortgage Commoditization ... their ideology caused them to keep their 'hands off' ... ... ... to the mis-fortune of us all.

This is a very meaningful issue for me.
As I've often said, I voted for many Republicans in my younger years. Republicans were a great party throughout the 60's and early 70's as I was beginning my interest in politics.
I can dispassionately recognize the accomplishments of Richard Nixon even as I realize how dangerous his political behavior was.
I had a great deal of respect for Gerald Ford.
When I was growing up, every Republican I knew was straight-ahead pragmatic, maybe somewhat stodgy, but very sensible and reasonable.
But that all changed when Newt Gingrich brought his 'Scorched-Earth' style to DC. He almost single-handedly changed the Republican Party into a rabid pack of attack dogs who no longer had personal dignity or valor.
And ever the Machiavellian and lusting after the mailing addresses that Jerry Falwell had assembled, he made overtures and wooed the leaders of the Christian Evangelicals and merged the two 'movements'.
That's when it came to pass that ... Republicans no longer relied on their cogent arguments to win the day ... they began to bludgeon their opponents as being essentially immoral.
And of course, the Christian Evangelicals lost as well. They could no longer claim their goal was a personal Spiritual Awakening ... now ... America sees them as just another Solid Political Block ... to be given automatically to the Republicans ... and ignored.
.
There were NO winners in Newt Gingrich's 'Republican Revolution' OR his "Contract With America" ...
But I ask y'all ... what would ANYONE have expected from such a despicable character? Did anyone stop and think ... do we REALLY want this Pugnacious, Highly Partisan, Adulterous Hypocrite to define the GOP?
As it turned out ... the Post 'Republican Revolution' is more of a reflection of Newt Gingrich than any could have imagined.

I am one heck of a lot more left wing than I let on.

At least in terms of the way I have voted.
I have always pulled the lever for the folks with a “D” after their name.
I confess to silly partisan ignorance.
During this last election I decided it was time to be a bit less ignorant, and try to look at thing a bit more pragmatically.
There are quite a few things in the “Conservative” hand book that I agree with wholeheartedly.
I do not trust the government, I hate paying taxes, and think they should spend less.
Unfortunately I trust large corporate entities even less, so I have chosen to back the power that pretends to give me a modicum of choice.
The Republican leadership has not demonstrated restraint in spending or reduction in the size of government. And it appears to me that they are more willing to use the power of federal government to control lifestyle choices and make them crimes.
It seems I differ from many of my fellow lefties, in that my faith plays a big role in the approach I choose to vote with. I was raised in a peace church tradition and realize that my view point exists for the sake of balance.
I seriously considered voting for Ron Paul, until I listened to Obama’s Philadelphia speech on race. From my perspective he took lemons and made lemonade from the situation. He has done a few things have caused me to question my choice.
The dude is going to **** me off, but I am tired of lemons. -

When describing the acts of malicious torture ( described is the milder forms of torture ) and at least one mention of taking photographs of dead detainees.
Reply
The most famous photograph is of the body of Manadel Al Jamaidi being stood over by a female soldier. That night Manadel was tortured to death by Navy Seals and were assisted by mercenary soldiers. Jamaidi was not the only detainee tortured to death that night at Abu Gharib.
And speaking of torture, there are over a hundred documented cases of detainees being tortured to death. The undocumented is left for you to guess.
One other little fact: of the over 100,000 detainees so far in this war, approximately 93% of them have nothing to do with Al Qaeda. That percent is what has been sold to the U S for bounty. And tens of thousands of these people were tortured.
I am all for a new party. -
